"Wout van Aert is the best Cyclist in the World!?!" Tour de France 2020 - Episode 60

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

A debut solo operation is on display to review the first 9 stages of the 2020 Tour de France. Hamish goes through team by team and discusses their performance and who the contenders for each jersey is.

I'd change he settle. Hello andwelcome back to the honorball podcast. This is episode sixty of the show.Today's a bit of a different one. Normally joined by one of my matesor a family member, but today I'm here on my own. It's asolo job for me today, and the reason that is is we're talking abouta sport that, let's say, it's not that mainstream, but I myselfI've been hiding it, not hiding it, but I haven't really gotten around togetting around it at the moment in this show's history. But today we'reticking that off the bucket list and we're going to be talking about the Tourde France. So the twitter France. It started, I think in thelast day of August. Maybe there's been nine stages so far. It's thefirst rest day, so I thought it would be the perfect time to sumup the first week and a bit of action. So yeah, there's notreally anyone to introduce or anyone to check on, so I don't see whywe can't just get straight into it. First of all, just a generaloverview. It's been a great start to the race for from my memory, obviously I'm only young so I haven't seen like a hundred editions or whatever, but it's been the best week of racing over the witnessed at the Tour deFrance. Usually the first five stages are all fairly flat. We just getbunch sprints, maybe the breakaway last to you know, F K's left togo. That's the biggest excitement of the week. But it's been. It'sbeen a hectic start. That was cross winds, there was bunch sprints, there was little punchy climbs, there was huge mountains, mountaintop summit finishes. We've had it all really and yeah, it's just been awesome. We haddsAdam Yates in yellow for most of it. I think you held it for fourdays, which I believe was a Mitchelton Scott or that team. It'sbeen under many names, but that team's record. I think he broke SimonGaron's and Daryl MP's record of three days or something. We had our Philippekicked out of the Yellow Jersey for grabbing a drink bottle when he wasn't allowedto, and now we've currently got primos Roglitch in it in the Yellow Jersey. So I'm going to go team by team and we're just going to reviewtheir teens performance so far pretty much. So yeah, we'll go straight intoit. I've just mentioned the great man, Primos Rocklich, probably the most informedrider in the last twelve months. He's team's team Yambo VISMA, andthey've basically just come out. Everyone was kind of expecting it was being predicted, but I don't think this dominance has been predicted. They've come out andthey've basically just been the new team sky. We've seen it in the last threeor four stages on the big climbs they're just doing the sky thing wherethey just get five at the front, the leading man just goes hard forfive to ten minutes and then falls off and then before you know when you'redown to the last like three blokes the pellet on his will down to justthe GC favorites. So they're really testing at the legs of the field veryearly on in the stages as well. Last nights or stage nine, wewere down to the GC favorites with quite a long way to go. Sothey're doing a very good job with that. So primos rock which is coming firstin the GC, so he's got the Ollow Jersey for stage ten.He was the pre race favorite and I'll be honest, I don't really seeanything that suggests that he is not going to just hold that the whole waythrough. There's obviously going to be a lot of changing parts. There's twoweeks to go, so many mountains. We haven't even hit the Alps oranything yet. So the next two we'll talk about it later the future stages. But Um, Yep. So he's in yellow, Tom Domla. Heis in fourteen, three minutes and twenty two seconds behind his teammate. Look, he's not really going to be going for yellows he now. He's settledto just being like a super domestique for premos rock lhitch. But yeah,he's doing well himself. He looked to crack on one of the climbs,I think was stage seven or something, but he decided to do the teamthing and he chopped out for four Primos, and that seems to be the wayto go for Tom Dum Ala. I think it's going to be toohigh. I think the field is too widespread to try and get a oneto finish, especially in the first week. I think you've got to just setup for one bloke and then, if eventuates that way, will thenyou take it. But yeah, Tom dumlin sitting in fourteen. I thinkas we go, since he's in such a strong team, he might findhimself on the top ten. But yeah,...

...he's aspirations the same as rock, which is at the moment that's what Prim us to be in yellow atthe end of the week, at the end of the two weeks in Green. Well, for now is actually sitting in third. He's probably been therider of the of the race so far. He's just put on an absolute clinic. He's been crunching the Pelton up up, you know ten percent climbs. He's been leading the pace, sometimes you know rock whits and stuff,or even struggling to keep up with him, and then he's winning bunch sprints. You want too to sprints. So he's he's just a freak of nature. I've heard a lot about him. I haven't really we saw him alittle bit in the tilto France last year, but I haven't really seen him athis best. But yeah, he honestly looks like say, gun versionsSagar version two, but better. Just does he's faster. Well, maybenot faster in terms of bunch sprints, but you can climb better. He'ssmarter. Yeah, like he just seems like the ultimate ride and honestly,we could be witnessing on once in a generation talent here. And while Fana, it's interesting where he's going to go in the future. I think hedoes. I don't think he's good enough, like I don't think has the mountaincapabilities to go for GC in this race anyway, but I think hedefinitely could. Well, he's third and for the Green Jersey. At themoment he'sn't even tried for it. So I think Green Jersey something you definitelycould win. I don't think you'll go for it here unless it just happensto fall on his shoulders. But yeah, he's firmly. He's solely looking outfor rock glitch at the moment, but to two wins for him ontwo different stages, you'll take that any day. The team is hitting infifth in the team's classification. I don't think they'll win that because they're probablygoing to expect too much energy just trying to break down that pellet on everyclimb, as opposed to you know, Mobby Star Trek Seca Frado, whomight have three in the pellet on for quite a while, like you're setcussers and stuff. They will just be sending sending it to try and eliminaterock letch and DOOMLAN's rivals. So yeah, they top. They've had three stagewins and then rock gage came second on the stage and nine got outsprintedby pocket chast. So yeah, really great start from Yonbo visma. Itwas expect it, but still to see it actually fabricate as it was expectedas being pretty special to see. That takes us to the team who they'rereplicating, team sky, now known as innios Grenadiers. So their leader isEgum Bernal. He's sitting in second, twenty one seconds behind rock litch, and I'm pretty sure rock litch it would be interesting to see if you tookaway rockotches bonuses from his finishes and stuff like that, whether Bernal would bein yellow or I don't think he would be, but I think would bea lot closer than twenty one seconds. And then Carapas sits at fifteen, three minutes and forty two seconds behind rockliche. Interesting one with any OS. They'velooked good at times, but then they've also looked weak at times butnow looks awesome. He started slow but each stage he's looking stronger and stronger. And stage nine, to be honest, if rock which or burn all cracked, I think it would have been rock hitch. I think Bernard wasreally pushing him, and pockets share as well. Rock lache didn't look tootoo good at some points in those climbs, and then Carapas. Obviously he's hereto work help out Bernal, but I think now we may be hopingfor, you know, a Thomas and froom kind of one too or something. I don't think carapazzes in that kind of form at the moment, butwe'll see how he goes in the big mountains. Obviously South American, sohe's probably going to suit the big mountains in the Alps and staff, butat the moment he looks a little bit out of touch, but we'll seehow he goes. He's going to be crucial to burn now because although theirteam still dominant stuff, there's been quite a few times where burn Al's beingisolated pretty early on in the climbs due to jumbo vismas dominance. And thenin terms of the White Jersey been our leads out. Obviously Rock Leitch isn'ttwenty five or under, so Bernal's winning that White Jersey. Will talk abouthis contenders later for that Jersey, but he looks like a good chance tohold that one right through to Paris. Terms of the team classification, theirseventh. Once again, they're not really going to be focusing on that, are they? They're going straight for that win. But you know, havingBernal and carrap has up there will always helping that classification. They've only hadone top five finish. Obviously, as I keep saying, they're not goingfor that. Bernal's been in the top ten four times, so he's beenpretty consistent across the opening nine days. On a sour note for any USgranadiers, Civikov. He's fighting hard but he's currently in last place in thewhole race. He was looking like he was going to be a really goodasset coming into this to it of France for Bern all. I think hedid really well on the Dolphin A and...

...then, yeah, he crashed. It was either stage one or stage two and he really just has struggled sincethen. He's getting dropped on the climbs very early and at the moment he'snot really proving much help to the team. Is a bit of a passenger, but I'm sure over time he's injuries will heal and he might come goodthe third week, who knows, but we'll keep an eye on him becausehe could be huge for Bernal because if Bernard Haska, patters and Civicov helpingout and you've obviously got quiff Kowski and Castro Viejo, all of a suddenthey look like a force in the mountains again, Cofferdis, we've got GilMartin sitting in three twenty eight seconds by primos. This is a probably upthere first shock of the tour. We maybe should have seen it coming, given the fact that last year, I think it was, he came justoutside the top ten and he had no help from his team. Wanting groupgo bear, they just said go for GC will see how you going. He came twelve. So coming twelve with no team helping him out, that'spretty impressive. So yeah, he's doing really well. Interesting to see.Now the French media is probably going to turn to him. Our Philips LostYellow. He's lost heaps of time. Pino, we'll talk about that later, but he's gone, but a still there. But they publicly came outand made a point of saying that they're not going for the yellow but youknow, they're thirty second spines, so they're not going for yellow. Definitelynot. But I think mar time will start getting a bit more of theFrench Press Media, the French media pressure, and we'll see how he goes, because we know a lot of the Frenchman really struggle with that. Buthe's writing really well at the moment. been looking really good on the climbs. There's not much else going for coffer this really. They've had a fewtop ten finishes. I'm not too sure what's happening with Elia Viviani. Becamesixth and stage one, but we haven't seen him since and there's been afew bunch sprints. I think there was a few stages where there's a bunchsprint, but there was like a climb to get over and I don't thinkhe got over or he might have crashed early. There was so many crashesearly it's hard to keep track of WHO's injured and stuff. But yet gayon Martin's the Shining Life for coffetis at the moment Harada came second on astage. I think that might have been too Letz ECCO, I think thatwas that one, and so that was pretty good effort. They're a bitstrange that cough it is because like Martin sitting in the third but they're stillgot blow scum for the stage win. So like LaPorte came forth on stageseven, Harada second stage six. So I don't know. We'll see howthey go the next two stages. Suit Vivanni. He's you know, weknow he's one of the best for all out flat men. I'm in thosebunch sprints. However, his team is a lot worse than the team's he'sused to dealing with, so we'll see how he goes there. They havehad one DNF so far, Anthony Pairs, but I don't think they'll affect Martintoo much. As you deserve, Lamondi Al Roman Barda, as Imention him before, he sitting in thirty seconds behind premos rock litch. He'dreally impressed me. He's looking like normal barde. There was a lot oftalk going into it. The Butt is just going for the stage wins latein the tour, like you know, into the mountains. But he honestlylooks like the Barday that's finished on the podium before and he looks really goodin the in the climbs. He looks like he's ready to attack. Soyeah, and he's obviously a great descender. So in the big mountain stages Ican't see why you can't, you know, even push Bernard Rock Glitchand try and crack them. So Yeah, France actually having a pretty good tourto spy Al Philip and Pino under achieving. They've got my time andBUD A and fourth and third and fourth. What other things going for? Asyou deserve, they've got the king of the mountains. They've actually gota one two in the king in the mountains, which is pretty rare. They've got been WHI COS nevoir on thirty six points and then they've got knowlspeters in the on thirty one points. Cos Whi is making a concerted effortfor that Jersey. I'm not sure if Peters is. I think that's alljust from his breakaway win on stage eight. That was probably another highlight for,as you desert, Peters one stage A. and then there are arethe top tens. Have come from Bard A and Venturini, who actually finishedin the top ten. I haven't heard much about that bloke, but twotop tens on the stages where you had to get over a few climbs andthen there was a bunch sprints. So good footy from him. Other thingsgoing for us. You deserve. Oliver Nice Nice and I wanted to mentionhim. I can't lie. He burst onto the scene two or three yearsago. He's a bit of a classic specialist, so we have to allowhim, you know, some slack. But he's gone for a few sprints. He's not even crack the top ten.

I think that's why they gave upin him. Went venturiny. He's being dropped on the climbs very early. I just don't really know what he's doing. He's kind of just inbetween at the moment, which I guess is what a classic specialist is,but he's not you can't really produce results for the team on the flats. He's not really helping out BART AI at any stage, so I'm not toosure what he's doing. It's a bit strange. Also Pierre Latour. He'shelping our bart a a little bit, but hopefully he finds the form hewas in, you know, two years ago, where it can really helphim in the high mountains. Next we've got ARKAU SAM sick. They've gotNiro Kintana in fifth thirty two seconds Pine Rock Leitch. I've been what Ikeep saying this, but I've been really impressed with Nara Cantana, I thinkon the I don't remember what stage number it was, but the stage wherethere was the crosswinds. I think he didn't get enough plaud it's there. That's usually a kind of stage continner would lose time on. He's always beengreat on the climbs, good to sender, but it's these little attention to detailmoments with narrow which is where he usually loses out to the you know, the team skies the world. But he nailed that test and he's reallynot failed anything. Lost a bit of time on stage nine, but onlylike ten seconds or something. So I think he's looking really good and thisis I think, in in history. This is like the most mountainous toa de France of all time or something. Least flat stages. Maybe I thinkthere's only four. So really suits narrow and if we get some hugeor category climbs. I think Nia could really push roglitch. We'll see howit goes against Bernal, but burn I will probably enjoy those climbs to butyeah, I think Niro can be really dangerous in the next two weeks.Big Concerned about the team around him. A lot of the Times he isby himself very, very quickly, but we'll see how he goes. Hedoes have Warren Bargeel, who you know he's done well in the past,so he might be able to help him there. But yeah, they're therest of the teams kind of struggling, but Niro seems to be doing itall on his own at the moment and it seems to be working for him. What else is going for Ark? Samsick their ten and the team thing. Once again, they're just focusing on narrow, so it doesn't matter toomuch. They Diego Rose, who was a DNF early in the tour, and they're two top tens are from Niro himself. So not too much goingfor Ark Apart from Niro Warren Bark Geel. He's the kind of guy who couldwin a stage. But obviously with NARA's performances they're not going to belooking at stage wins, they're going to be looking at that Yellow Jersey orthe podium. Next I've got ef pro cycling education. First they've got rigabertoran, sitting at six thirty two seconds behind Roberts, so tied with narrow, and they've got serger a Gita, nineteen, sitting six minutes and eightseconds behind, so he's probably not going to be going for himself. Theykind of came in looking like mobbi star. Last year they kind of came inwith a bit of a trident with Uran Danny Martinez and Serger a Gitar. But run's the clear leader there, so hopefully he guida turns his attentionto Iran rather than focusing on himself. However, is only six minutes behind, so I don't think the pellet one would let him get away too easily. But yeah, I don't know why every time they showed a guitar onthe on the coverage, he seems to be getting dropped. But I guessyou've got to be there to get dropped and usually by that time there's notmany left. So I guess he's doing well. But yeah, Ruan's beenreally impressive. People were questioning him coming into the tour. Thought he wasa bit past it. You know, he's kind of in his prime, like two thousand and seventeen eighteen. But he's been really good. Hasn't lookedat all phased on the climbs. Never really look like being dropped massively.Once again, like Naro, he lost a bit of time the other day, but only ten or so seconds. And then in the Young Jerseys,Young Jersey Sergio Gee to qualifies for that one. So he is fourth andthat five minutes and forty SEC seven seconds by Bernal so. Once again probablya bit out of his reach, but who knows? The mountains are prettyoutrageous. Could be some crashes, God forbid. But yeah, we'll findout there if pro cycling or also coming second in the team classification. So, as I mentioned, they've got that tried in there. So they're goingto be right up there to the very end in that classification, you'd think, with two guys in the top twenty and a few other decent riders.Well, pretty good riders. Are got a grand tour rider there. Theyonly lost out two trek Sega Fray on a trek Sega. FRAID I lostout as well. They lost out to movie star, sorry, on stagenine to you know, be superseded in...

...the team classification. In terms ofstage finishes, powerless Nelson Powers or Neilson powers, the American climber. He'sdone really well in two breakaways. He had a fourth and a fifth,so he's been really good on the climbs. Just has run out of a bitof gas at the end of the stages, but he's he's done well. And then obviously a guitar had a top ten in their teacher. I'vegot a few question marks around if pro cycling though TEACHEV and garden. Iknow he's past his prime, that's for sure. He had a lot ofinjuries when he was in his prime, so I'm sure that's all catching upto it now. But Um, I just questioned, like I don't know, he's just not really offering the team much. You never really see himup there late in this late in the climbs, helping the boys out.I think he's over an hour and a half behind rock litch and yeah, you think someone of his experience and his climbing ability he would be great serviceto these leaders. But I'm not sure he's providing what you'd expect TJV andgarden to do but I know he is past it, so I don't wantattack him or anything. And then Daddy Martinez. He came in looking reallygood. I think he won the dolphin a but he crash. I thinkhe had a few crashes early and that's really hurt him. He's up overlike forty minutes behind or something now. So that's a bit of a letdownfor pro cycling, but ef pro cycling, but there might help them. Wesaw Mulvey Star last year really struggle with juggling three leaders, so maybehe'll help to just narrow their focus on to Rigaberto. So we'll see howthat goes. Next up, we got you a team, Emirates. Thisis this guy's been an absolute star. So sitting in seventh we've got TaddyPoga Char forty four seconds behind rock litch. He's Slovenian counterpart. How crazy isthere's two Slovenians in the top ten beer. Yeah, anyway, rightnext to van art and Gayamatan, pocket child's probably been one of the mostimpressive riders to me. I know he had big raps on him. Ithink he might have won a stage at the Walter at the age of liketwenty. But yeah, he's been awesome. He missed, he got dropped onthe crosswind day. He lost about a minute and forty five seconds. But then the last two days, stage eight and nine, he has beensuperb, just attacking at every at every opportunity. Yeah, he's just beenscintillating to watch. He's had for top tens, including a stage win onstage nine, and yet he's just been breathtaking. The he's speed like whenhe attacks on the climbs, he does it with such pace everyone just panicshe's so good to watch. So he sits in second in the White Jerseyas well, twenty three seconds behind burn now, so that he's a genuinecontender there. But he's also a genuine contender for the GC. He's probablyapart from that crosswind day, obviously he's probably looked the most impressive of allthe GC riders on the climbs in the last two days. And then anotherthing for you. A team Emirates. They had Alexander Christophe who won stageone, which meant he held the Mayo John or the Yellow Jersey for Stagetwo. So That's obviously big highlights for them. It and then Christoph sitsin sixth in the Green Jersey. I don't think he's really competing for it. I don't think he has the mountain capabilities of a Sagan Saga. Butwho knows, if he wins the next two flat finishes and starts grinding onthose intermediate points, he might be there in Paris wearing green fabia are ruhe. I don't know if he got caught by the car at the backfor like the time cut or he just quit on stage nine, but he'sout of the race. That's really disappointing. I can't lie. There's a bitof attitude issue. I think they're we saw he struggled with the leadershipof Nibbli when he was coming into the Astana setup and yeah, he justseems like a bit of a Brat. Can't handle the pocket chase, theteam leader, and we saw one day in the mountains, rather than helpingout pocket char you just went for a little attack himself. so He seemslike a pretty selfish bloke and he crashed and he said like Oh, it'sa shame because he doesn't get to help pocket chat. But I honestly don'tthink he gives a rats ass about that. So that's a little bit annoying becausehe will probably get a lot of fame and stuff in other races, but he's a bit of a dog in this race. Another guy I questionedfor Molo David from all low. He's over fifty minutes behind Rocklich so himhere's a lot out of touch. He' is a great climb up when he'sin form. So hopefully in the next...

...two weeks he finds some form andis able to help Pocka Char. Next up we've got Mitchelton Scott. Theytheir leader. Well, I don't know who their leader is. I thinkgoing into it was actually meant to be EST bun shovers, but Um andand up being out of Yates. He's in fifth the moment, a minuteand two seconds behind rocklitch and he held as I mentioned before, he heldthe Yellow Jersey for I think four days, maybe five, due to other Philippebeing, you know, kicked out of it for the drink bottle incident. But then Adam Yates well and truly earned defended it beautifully and I haveto say his team's pretty weak. I Know Matt White, the Sporting Director, sporteeth of Mitchelton Scott came out and slam some of the support cast animYates and I completely agree with it. I think they've been pretty soft. He's been left in the pellets on by himself when you know young both visitorand Innyo still have four or five riders. So he's sitting in eighth EST,Bun shovers sitting in twenty. He's been a bit disappointing, I can'tlie. He's been getting dropped on the climbs very early. He said onone of the backstage passes on Youtube that he struggles when it's like, youknow, a short, sharp climb and he rathers like a k a longclimb. But yeah, I'm sorry, it's still not good. And offhis twelve minutes back on Roglitch. So now he's basically just turned to beinga super domestiq for Adam Yates. But I don't know Mitch was got.Mitchelton Scott's in a tricky situation here because they know Adam Yate's not going towin. Like he doesn't have the climbing capabilities. I'm sorry, but they'renot far enough out that they can go for stage whin yet, which wastheir goal coming into the tour. So it's going to be interesting to seehow they handled the next two weeks. They certainly than team classification, apartfrom Yates, who had four top tens, Mes Jack, he came sick, and one of the sprints, but ultimately he's not the fastest sprinter,so he's doing the best with what he's got. Their six. You'll takethat any day the week. Mick could navy. Michell Navy. Sorry,he's been a little bit disappointing. Similar to shave as, he's been gettingdropped very early. Hasn't been helping. Adam Yates marts much. And thenDarrell imp he's been very quiet. Usually he's hard to avoid in the tour. De France is usually everywhere. Those you know, Rolling Hill days wherethey're not too mountainous. He's usually up and about on those and, youknow, sprinting for the finish. But we haven't seen him much at allto be honest. And yet Adam Yates is going. He announced just beforethe tour it was announced. Sorry, not here now is that he's goingto any offs next year. So that's an interesting one. They've obviously gotfrom leaving GT Garant Thomas. He's getting older, so maybe they're looking atYa eights, is a pretential GC guy, or they see him as a superdomestic. So we'll see how that plays out. But yeah, movingon to a starn up. They've got me go and go Lopez, thebest name to say in cycling. In nine he's a minute and fifteen behindrock leitch and I'll be honest, I just can't see this blow winning thetour. I don't think he's consistent enough. He's similar to narrow back in hisprime. He's very prone to a crack on one of the big mountaindays, despite being a super climber. So I don't see him winning, but you know, top ten finish would definitely be a likely thing, maybeeven a top five. I think his team's they're doing all right that they'rekind of inconsistent there. They'll be three there at points in when no onehas anyone and then he'll be alone very quick at the back. So it'skind of inconsistent with the stanner Letsenko. So he had a great win onstage six. Can't take that away from and breakaway win. Blah Blah. But with a guy like a climbing. He really impressed me on the climbs. I was just wondering why isn't this guy helping out Migueler and go Lopez? And I haven't seen him helping him out on the climbs in the precedingfollowing days. So bit confused how they're using LETZENCO there. They sit insixth in the team classification, so we'll see how they go. They're probablynot going to win it, but who knows, they could aim for that. Next up we've got Barra McLaren. I think it's guys have kind ofbeen going under the radar. They lost time, I believe, on theCrosswin Day. Land is sitting in ten the minute and forty two seconds behindRocklich and Damiano Caruso is sitting in sixteen three minutes and forty two behind rockhitch. So they could be looking at two top fifteen s, maybe atop five and a top ten if things go well, which would be anawesome result. Their team sits an eighth, so behind that those two that itmustn't have much depth. But landers looked really good in the climbs thelast couple days. He was there with the leading pack on the stage ninewith, you know, Bernard Rock litch...

...and pocket share and port kind of. So yeah, land has been really impressive despite that Crosswin Day. Soon a big mountains day he's the kind of guy who could win back sometime. He we've seen in the past he attacks well on the big mountains. So you've got to really keep an eye on lander. I don't thinkhe has the best team around him though, which doesn't help, but he doeshave Caruso if he needs so yeah, they're an eight and the team,as I mentioned before, Raphael Vals, he is out, and Sonny Colbreally he's my question mark there. He's crushed all he crashed, Ithink, on stage one or two, so he's been really struggling. Butwe'll see how he goes in the next two days, I guess, becausehe's normally a pretty good sprinter, normally in the top ten. So we'llsee how he goes, but I think he's still recovering from those crashes,so maybe not. Next up we've got check Sega Fredo. This is theOzzy Ritchie ports team, is sitting in Eleventh, a minute and fifty threebehind rock hitch and Barkholmolema is sitting in thirteen two minutes thirty one seconds behindrock hitch, similar to lander and who I mentioned before. I can't remember. They lost time. I'll pocket are. So they lost time in the CrosswinDay to rob which in the leaders. But they looked really impressive on theclimbs. As I men should put kind of made it to that topgroup on the climb on stage nine. Just was a couple meters behind themand then got dropped on the descent. But he looks in really good form. He normally crashes out on the stage nine. I think is crashed outthree or four times, so he was calling it stage eight to b buthe got through that safely and he's looking really good form. I think there'sa lot less pressure on in this year. I don't think people were expecting toomuch coming into it from the Ritchie, which they normally do, and Ithink that's really suiting him and the dynamic Jew of him and Molema isquite dangerous on the big mountains because you know they can work together and stuff. So I like both of them for a top ten finish here. Theirteam is sitting in third and the team classification, but if they both cometop ten. I think they will be a good chance that the win andthat classification. Yeah, glad to see port doing well and staying on thebike, keeping the bike vertical, because he's had issues without in the past. In terms of the Green King in the Moundains, they've got Thomas Conson twenty four points, but I'm not sure if you'll be focusing on that. I think they will be focusing on the leaders, but who knows?TREXIC Afrado, they're a bit of a random team. I think they've hadthe most top ten finishes in this first nine stages. Mad's pedicons has cometop ten. JASPERS DUIVENS had three, Bacamolem has had three, Ritchie portshad one, Toms coins had one, Dylan turns has had one. Sothey've had a really impressive first nine days. Actually probably one of the more underratedteams, but just got a lot of depth. All their guys arepretty good at something. My question mark. He did come second on stage one, but mad's Pedison, I was probably expecting a little bit more fromthe world champion. I thought stage five and seven the one then are one. I thought they were kind of stages that pedicson could do well on buthe was nowhere to be seen. So I'm not sure if he's had crashesalong the way, like I said, but there's a bit, bit,bit of a question mark there. Next up we've got mobbi start. Interestingone for mobi star. They have not been atty much airtime at all.Normally they're one of the most televised teams. They've got, you know, valvertA, Kintara Landa in the past, but at this year they've got enricmass, Aleander Valverta and then you know mark. So all are buthe's quite a long way back now. But I don't think I've seen Valverteonce in the nine stages and Enrique mass only a couple times. Masses comingin twelve, two minutes and two seconds behind rock glitch. VALVERDE's in seventeen, three minutes and forty three seconds behind rock glitch. Realistically, neither ofthese guys are GC threats. Masses only two minutes back, but I justcan't see him winning once again they've gone for this juwel leadership thing, whichit can work sometimes, but it can start sometimes, you know, playagainst you. But mass, he's doing well, doing well to be aboveValverde. I think Mark Siller's been a bit disappointing. I think he's aroundthirty five minutes back or something, which you'd expect more from him be inthe team classification they're coming first, which is important for them. Sorry aboutthat, the camera just turned off. Had to turn back on. Butyeah, Mobbi Star, they really put a lot of importance on that teamclassification that I think they've wanted for the last five times. So they're comingfirst and that and probably the favorite to carry that out in the mountains with, you know, Mass Valverta and Solt or, good mountain specialist mass. He's also eligible for the White Jersey. Shits in thirty minute and forty onebehind Bern I. Honestly I can't see mass finishing above burn or Poga Chah, but definitely a top three there is...

...likely. So yeah, Mobbi Star, they've had a bit of a strange one. Probably a little bit lessstar started as all normal, but you know, they're having the impact onthe races normal and we'll see them, I'm sure, a lot more inthe mountains, you know, with their climbing capabilities. Next up we've gotBora Hans Grow Mannie Bookman, Emmanuel Bookman, in eighteen five minutes and forty fiveback. So now we're starting to get to the section where these guysare they still in it? It's up in the air. It will takea big mountain stage or even a breakaway probably get this blog back into contention. He came in. I believe he was only told he's going to beracing the two de France about three days before it started, so that's notthe best preparation. But Um, yeah, he did come. I think I'mfourth last year, so eighteen. That'd probably be expecting a little bitmore. However, obviously, for Boora they've got Peter Cigaran and he iswinning the Green Jersey, surprise, surprise. He's on a hundred and thirty eightpoints. He's got a seven point lead on Bennett. So I don'tknow if saga will hold it for the next couple days, maybe even thisweek, but I think if he stays in the race, I think overthe mountains because after these two stages, I think the next flight ones arethe last stage and Paris. So I think, I think if Sagun can, you know, race out the whole three weeks, I think eventually throughoutthe climbs and with breakaways and stuff. I think you overtake Bennett or whoeverwins the next two sprints or overtakes him on the Green Jersey points still landings. So I think he's in for I don't know, it might be's EighthGreen Jersey now, which is just insane. He is the best bike ride ofmy generation, well the generation I followed. I put him above ChrisRoom, which is debatable for a lot of people, I'm sure, butyeah, not my much else is going for them. I'M SAG on.He's not looked great in the sprints, I have to admit, but he'salways in the top ten, which is important, which is what is importantfor that Green Jersey. He's come fifth, he's come five twice and a fourth, so you know that's big points and I think each time he's finishedbehind Bennett only one or two places, who's probably his biggest rival for thisGreen Jersey. So he's just a master of it by now. He's doneit so many times he knows the perfect game plan. And Bora, theycause the chaos on the cross Wednesday. So congrats to them for making aflight stage spicy. Next I've got bemb hotels. At first I can't lie, I did think this was air BEMB. I haven't seen too much cycling thisseason so I haven't seen this team really their leader. Well, they'renot really going for GC or anything, but their main guys Pierre Rolong, obviously hero of French cycling. He's sitting in twenty one, fifteen minutes back, so he's almost getting to that stage where the pellets one will let himgo into breakaways, let him have a crack at the win, and withwith rollins capabilities in the mountains, I definitely think the stage win from himwould not shock me at all. Then they've got Brian Cocker sitting in fourthand the Green Jersey one o six points, so he's thirty two points back onSagun, doesn't have the climbing ability of, say, guns, sogood luck to the young Fella. Well, he's not young anymore. They weresaying on the broadcast that he doesn't have a single professional win, whichis outrageous for someone who's contesting to a de France prints and stuff. You'dassume the dominating other races. So I hope he snacks one in the nexttwo because he's always there or thereabouts. So far this this race has comeeight to nine, seventh and third, so I guess he's getting closer, slowly but surely. And then they've got pashare in sixth on the King ofthe mountains, on twenty points. But you know the King of the mountains, it's not like the Green Jersey. It's kind of just like, forexample, Hershe, who will get to he had one big day yesterday onstage nine and now he's up to third. So it's very volatile the king ofthe mountains, depending on WHO's in the breakaway and stuff like that. But I'm sure pass are will try and get in a few more breaks andcontest that POKA DOT JERSEY. Next up we've probably got disappointment of the race. I hate to add to the pressure that he already is receiving, butgroup IM FDJ tbol Pino, he sits in twenty four, twenty eight minutesback. So I guess if you want some silver lining, he's far enoughback that they'll let him go for stage wins in the breakaway, which he'sdone before in the past. He looks a lot more energetic and lively doingthat because there's less pressure on him. So I'm sure we might see thebest of Tibo Pinot in the next two weeks. But yeah, he looksout of form at the moment in terms of GC riding and yeah, it'sjust it's rough to see because we all...

...know he's got the physical ability todo it, but at this point it's just a mental capacity, and Idon't want to question a cyclist on mental strength because that's basically what cycling is. But just the scrutiny he coughs from the French media, he just doesn'thandle it as well as some of the others like Alla, Philip and barday's cracked once again, and the thing that I don't know frustrates means ifyou are no, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, butwhen he cracks it's almost like he gives up. He doesn't seem to fightand just try and keep the gap to like a minute or two, likewhen he cracked. I don't know, I think it was on stage eight. You just he was riding with his team. He's based his team basicallysat up, so I don't know if their plan was to get the gapbig enough so he could win stages or yeah, but they just didn't looklike they were really that interested in keeping him close to the Yellow Jersey. So that's a little bit disappointing. It can't be avoided there. That's basicallyall has happened for group. I'm F DJ they haven't really brought a sprintersall eyes on pin know, and that happened. How that hasn't happened. So I'm sure we'll see some breakaway, a tense from them in the nexttwo weeks, hopefully some stage wins for their team. But yeah, frustratingfrom Pino. And I can't lie, I think that's his Yellow Jersey windowgone. I hate to be the bearer of bad news their tipo. Nextwe've got the CCC team, Triple C. Their top guy in GC is illnesszaccherin thirty three minutes and fifty three back twenty eight, he came secondon it. Came fourth on stage eight. We all saw. He's horrible descendingall that the commentators were describing as horrific. Can't say I'm a descendingexpert myself. So He's far enough back that he'll be able to go formore breakaways. He's such a talent to climb. I think he might beable to, you know, get a few top five finishes, but probably, like the probably just be stage eight on repeat where he climbs well andthen he's descending lets him down. So we'll see how he fares. GregVan Alv the mart as well. He's probably been the quiet achiever of thistour. De France is ten in the Green Jersey, sitting in sixty fourpoints. He's had a fourth and a third, so I can't lie.I haven't noticed him too much, but he's been pretty close to to stagewins, which is impressive for Greg Van Alphamat. I think no one wasreally expecting him to do that this year. And then they've had Meteo Trenton beinga little bit disappointing in the bunch prints. I can't laugh, Ibut he's sitting in fifth in the Green Jersey. Look like he was goingto contest saga on early but he's kind of given up on the last couplestages. But yeah, who knows, a couple wins in the next twostages could be right back in the hunt for that. Yeah, CCC,they're a bit of a strange team. Formally BMC, who are always oneof the best teams in the Peloton, but this year they didn't really bringa GC rider. Zach Arin. He's gone GC in the past but he'sa different rider now. Vent Alf of Mart's past his best. So it'sa bit strange what they're achieving at the moment, but they look a lotworse than what they used to. Sorry about that. Total direct energy, they've got romance card their top GC guy, thirty one thirty seven minutes back.I can't lie. This team hasn't really done much. Calmos arm wasa DNF food is probably their most exciting rider. They've had two top tenswith Turgy and Bonifatsio can't I don't really know too much about those two blockseither. So yeah, just moving on. Sorry, direct energy. I'm surethey'll be fair and the breakaways and push for a few stage wins, but good luck to him. Next we've got to coined quick step, JulianL Phillips team. He's forty one minutes back on GC despite having the YellowJersey for two days. I think it was earlier on in the race.So I think that's a little bit disappointing. I think they could have been aimingfor a top twenty finish, maybe even a top ten, but Ithink now they're just going to go for stage wins. They've got Sam Bennettto contest the next two flat stages in the SCHAMP's least a stage and thenthey've got alphalyte for the mountain stages. So and he's got such a quickturn of pace I'm sure he'll cause some havoc there. But they've had apretty good like. I know people are saying all phillips been disappointing, butI think if Bennett comes second in the Green Jersey snags a stage win,Alla Phillips had two days in yellow, maybe he stags a breakaway win allof a sudden. That's a pretty good tour. From decoine quick step they'vehad something like six top five finishes. So ben at Fourth Stage one,all phleete first stage to Bennett, second stage three, Alla Phleet, fifthstage four, ben at third stage five and all PHLEET fifth stage six.So they've they were pretty dominant earlier,...

...especially in the mountains. They camea little bit unstuck, but now you know they've got no one in Contentifor GC that can just let loose for stage wins and the flat stages.Next I've got NTT pro cycling. Forty five they dominic pots of EVO fortyeight minutes back. I just read, though, he's quit the twitter Francefrom earlier crashes. I was going to quite put question marks around him becausehe used to be a very good writer. Well, he still is, butforty eight minutes back, that's unheard of for him. But I've heardit's crash related and that makes a little bit more sense. So I can'tlie. There's not too much going on for this team. They also hadYacamo and it's only the Italian and European champion as of two weeks ago.He crashed out. I'm pretty sure he crashed early and then he quit thetour. But he had a seventh and third before he did so, sonot too bad. But they would have been hoping for early stage win fromhim. And then Boston Hagan came second to what Vanat on stage seven. So I'm sure bostn Hagen will have a crack at the two flood stages comingup tonight and tomorrow night. Next I've got team sweb. Another guy upthere for rider of the debt will not tournament rider of the race. Sorry, they've got Mark Hershey, young Swiss ride, I think is twenty twoand I think it's like fourth youngest in the race. He's coming sixty andsixty an hour behind. So I'm to non cycling fans has sounds alien aminute an hour behind, but he's one of the riders of the tour. But yet he came second on stage to third on stage nine. Both ofthem he put in really impressive attacks and yeah, he's just really just beenpipped for two stage wins. He's coming third and the King of the mountains. So he could contest for that. He's twenty six points. He's goodenough to do so I probably their disappointment, though I don't know what's going onthe Nicholas Roach, or Nicola Roach however they say, but he's anover an hour back. Used to be a really good writer but he's kindof fallen off a cliff recently. So He's a bit I don't know what'sgoing on there. And then cease bowl. He's done pretty well, but they'llbe hoping for a stage win for him and the next two days he'shad a third or seven or second. So He's been very close, butthey'll be hoping for that state, that number one stage and all of asudden if they if they have a stage, when they have Hershe win the kingof the mountains. It's a pretty good tour for somewhere or our lasttwo teams we've got Israel start up nation. Look, without being disrespectful, theyhaven't done much. The men they lead guy is Damn Martin, buthe's over an hour back. Nothing like the Damn Martin of old. BitLike Nicola Roach there that they've had a quite a few top tens, whichI'll be honest, I haven't noticed. They've had hofstead up, he's hada fourth ten, seventh and then they had been Herman's sixth on stage eight. So I think hofsteader might be contesting tonight and tomorrow night's stage, sowe'll see how he goes. The question marks with this one, Andre Grappel. He's not even contesting the stages, and no offense to Andre, that'skind of been the only thing he's been able to do in his career. So I'm not too sure what he's doing on the team. Maybe leadership forhostead, I don't know. Then finally we've got Lotos, who dull.I don't want to bash hard too much on this team. They had DagunCOLB and Gilbert Jilbert dnft on the first two stages and then last night theyhad steph crass pull out, so they're down to about five riders. Ithink they have had a stage with with Caleb U, and so any toit a France where you achieve a stage win, that's pretty much automatically awin. He's eighth and the Green Jersey too far back, doesn't have theclimbing prow West to do it, but he's definitely in contention for the nextfew stages. He's just so fast, so good to watch. I lovewatching the small compact sprinters like your cabin dishes. Now you're Caleb UWINS.So as an Azzi, I hope he gets up, but ultimately it's goingto be tough. He doesn't have any lead out men left, but Iguess in the springe you can always just tag onto the back of someone else'strain, and he seems to do that pretty bloody well. And then finallythey've got Thomas de Gent who's there. Well, not that GC man,but their mountains band famous for his breakaways. Haven't seen him too much yet,so we could see him wild say will see him in the next twoweeks, so good luck to him on his breakaway adventures. Right now willbe a previewing the next week of racing. So tonight, well on the eighthof September, because I don't know when you're listening to this, we'vegot stage ten, completely flat. I'm not too sure what the winds arelike. There might be crosswinds, but this looks like it's just going tobe a pure bunch sprint. There's also...

...an intermediate sprints, so it's goingto be a big day for the Green Jersey. But ultimate it's ultimately it'sgoing to be hard to catch Sagun with his climbing abilities following these two stages. But who knows? Stage Eleven, once again it's flat, a littlebit of a kick. There's a stage for level for climb, but honestlythat's not testing anyone. Once again, big points on offer for the GreenJersey there for those two stages. I don't think Sagon has the paste.Winter stage. I'd love to see cock hard get his first win. I'dlike to see cease bowl get a win. His fought hard. I'd like tosee you and get another win as well. It will be interesting tosee how Vivianni goes because he's kind of gone missing. Sonny Colbrelli in thatsame boat. Would be interested to see how he goes. Christoph as well. He's been pretty quiet since stage one. So there's a lot of guys towatch in the sprints, so be interesting to see how they go.And then we go straight into the big boys. Stage twelve. It doesn'tlook too dangerous, but it's kind of one of those one where it's goingto be more susceptible to attacks. Sometimes, those huge mountain days everyone's so worriedabout cracking themselves they kind of hold back. But the ones with thestage tree is the stage two is like the one with our phileep in Yates, where they attack act there can be often a lot more exciting and thenthere's a descent to the finish. So I don't know who its suits.I'll be honest, probably super must rock lache rather than some of the otherpure crop climbers in that top ten. But pocket Shah at this point Idon't think much can stop him. Stage Thirteen. This is when we reallyhit the mountains in the massive central couple. COUPLE STAGE LEVEL ONE CLIMBS, couplelevel two is couple level threes and there's a summit finish. So it'sgoing to be an interesting one. They'll probably be another one that's pretty bigfor GC and also the king of the mountains. So many points on offerthere, so I'm sure we'll see a change of hands in the Polka DotJersey on that day. Then for the rest of the week it's basically justmountains, mountains, mountains. Stage fourteen interesting. There's A to stage tolevel four climbs category for I forgot the words categories in it. To categoryfour climbs in the last twenty kilometers. So it might not be a stagefor a pure sprinter because there's cut two's and cut threes early, but surelythe team can just carry the springes over for that. And then there's twocut falls. So I don't know, it could suit maybe even a whileVanat or our Philip or great fan Alf themart so we'll see how they gothere. Then we're looking at stage fifteen. Now, Oh my God, tocut ones and all category climb in the last sixty kilometers. That's goingto be one to watch. I think the GC could be decided on thatday. If we'll probably not decided, but they'll be definitely people eliminated fromthe GC race there. That's going to be huge. So that's one willdefinitely test. And then we've got the rest day. So great I'll beback doing the same episode for that Rest Day. So it's going to beinteresting to see where we go from there. I'm going to make a few predictions. Yellow Jersey, or I don't only be boring. I'm going tosay I'm going to say Egan Bern now, actually I'm just going for a risk. I think it's going to be Bernal or up which? But I'lljust say Roman bar a look pretty good, so I'll back him in to gethis thirty seconds back. Green Jersey. I don't think Sagon will have itback at this stage next week, to be honest, but I thinkwill end up with it. So I'm going to go or. Let's goSam Bennett. Let's back him in tonight. King of the mountains could be anyone, too hard to guess, but I'll give it to t Bo Pino. I reckon they'll let him have a crack somewhere and yeah, that's prettymuch it. Thanks for listening. If you have like subscribe all that goodstuff, if you've enjoyed it, and I guess I'll see you next time. Thanks.
