NRL Round 8 Review | Rugby League - Episode 127

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Following another good round of NRL footy, I return to analyse the 8 games and chat rubbish. I discuss the Broncos and Tigers return to the win column, Titans inconsistency, season-ending injuries and Knights/Dragons incompetencies. I also sort the Fox League commentary panel from best to worst and then finish off with another set of predictions for Round 9.

Hello and welcome back to the on the ball podcast. This episode a hundred and twenty seven of the show and we once again here to discuss the National Rugby League. Another good round. Actually is better around than I was expecting. I gave a little bit of a warning last week this round might be a bit of a stinker, but it didn't actually actually stink up the place as much as I was expecting. There were some high scores, there was some big margins, but not too many. Well, there's less than I was expecting. I was expecting a fair few blowouts. I went with the eight favorites for my tipping. Didn't get all late right, so that basically means it was a good round. There were a couple upsets. The broncos got up over the Times. The Tigers upset the dragons, so that was good enough to keep interesting. Looking forward a lot more to this upcoming round than the round is previously gone. There's some really, really good games this week, but we'll get to that more at the end of the episode. But we're going to go through similar structure as always. This week our list segment is going to be a commentators tier list. So looking at all the Fox league commentators and ranking them, and we're also obviously going to do the usual stuff to our predictions for next week, talk about our predicted top eight, the winners and losers. I'm going to do something a little bit different this week. I've picked a game to highlight and I'm going to go through that game in depth and then after I'll go through the winners and losers from the other Games, but by game of the week. Not necessarily game of the week, but the game I chose to in depth for the analyze is the raiders rabbitos game is a really interesting one actually. A lot of people have come out of it saying the raiders are no good, but I actually don't really get that. I'm not sure how you come out of that game and say that. Personally, the rabbits have been on fire all year, probably unanimous, unanimously, voted as the third best team the competition behind the panthers all store, whatever way you rank those two teams, and the raiders came within a bee stick of beating them. They had to disallowed tries at the end, both controversial, and they were themselves missing. I know the rabbits were missing Latrelle, but the raiders were missing Shawn's Hodge and Poppa Lee so and then George Williams pulled out just on the on the verge of the game. So I don't really get why runs hating on the raided rates. Yes, the start to their years been poor. There's no avoiding that one. But I think their performance on Thursday was encouraging if anything, to me anyway. It was really good intensity the game, good atmosphere. It was just high quality footy. You knew both the teams are pretty good sides, but ultimately the difference was just the rabbits were to classy and attack. I think most of the game is fairly even, but the rabbitos didn't really have to get out of second gear to score points, which is the way Wayne Bennett's built that side and the way they play. They would pretty much every chance they had in the opposition twenty there it felt like they scored anyway. So that was a little bit disappointing from the raiders, that how easily they let the rabbits concede, because I thought that was something the raiders were going to be different to then the rabbitos previous opponents. So that was a little bit frustrating and I know Ricky Stewart was very upset about that in the in the press conference, but I think well, the General Vibe I get from it is that these two teams are kind of this game less respected than they came into it, which I find bizarre. Wayne Bennet, I think he's preface conference might have had a big impact on the way people viewed their performance. He was really pissed off, so I reckon that might have shifted the narrative of the rabbits having a good performance to having an average one. So I think Wayne Bennett, maybe that's what he wanted. I'm not sure, but more in debt, I thought. Look, Benji Marsh, we got...

...the three votes and yes, I think you had to try since maybe two, but I don't know, like maybe I just have my tigles goggles on when I see this. I watched the den and Kemp bloken a bar business forty. That was really good, by the way. Check that out if you haven't absolutely loved those. I wish they would do if every game. I know that's pretty unfeasible, but it would be pretty cool if they could get a rotating cast and they covered every game. Because it's cool just to watch. I actually watched it after the game, which was interesting, but yeah, I enjoyed watching it. Bo Ryans a great guest. But yeah, they were commenting on Marshall stuffing up a little bit and where. I don't know. Andrew Johns did the voting and I just think if you've got nothing to do with Benjie Marshall, maybe you just see the good things, which is like we do for opposition players, whereas someone who's invested in Benji, are kind of see the stuff he stuffs up as well. So I think personally I have a more well rounded view of the way he's been playing. But maybe that's just me being arrogant, I don't know. But I thought he was exposed a little bit, especially in defense. I thought Elliott White had caught him out a few times, but they just scrambled and made up for it. So I am a little bit concerned about his defense in the big games because the raiders aren't playing well and they managed to do it a little bit. So you'd think the likes of the Panthers, the storm even the roosters will really find out ways to expose him in the Line of Defense. But why is doing so well? I actually don't think he's playing that much better than he did last year, to be honest. I just think his mistakes happened in a part of the field where they're less impactful. We saw it a few times where he cocked up passes out to Johnston. I think he tried about four times. One was a try SIS. I think the other three would turnovers and no one really cares about those three turnovers because he is giving you a try, sister, and that's his role. That's perfect. But at the Tigers, and I know I'm more as a backfoot about the Tigers here. I do get that, but at the Tigers he would do that stuff and it would be like our only chance in the opposition. Fifty opposition half and then they're back on us. So it would be more costly the mistakes. So that's another reason why I think he's looking like he's playing a lot better this year, but I'm not actually sure if it realistically is. He's having more impact. I guess you could say that much. And Yeah, Benjie ultimately got the last laugh here. was having a bit of a scuffle with Rappanna throughout the last twenty minutes. He ended up winning, the team winning the game got the three votes. So ultimately, yeah, up yours for rapperer. I shouldn't say rappanner, but yeah, I just thought the raiders put up a really good fight. I know the a lot of people are off them. I just looked at Jamie sald's power rankings on NRLCOM and I think they were down at eleventh for him. But I'll talk about my predicted top a later. But I'm still not that worried about the raiders. I think they did this last year, not as extreme, but I remember a game against the Tigers. They didn't look great. I think they played against the nights in a really high scoring game. Their defense looked awful against the nights. So without Hodgson, without Papa Li, without chance, without Williams, I thought they did well to only lose by two tries to the RABBITOS. And in the end, if those like I actually believe they are obstructions, like it's really tough one to cool. I see the argument with the first one that he actually ran to the side of Goula and Benjie came out of the line to get to gool but I still do think he was in the way and then the second one look, I think then he still be a little bit of clarification around the shepherd rule. I think in the last, you know, decorate that decade or so they've kind of put the shepherd rule away and they've just thought if he's not in the line, they'll let players run behind. But this year it seems like they've kind of started to stamp it out. So in that sense I get it, but they're still going to be more consistent with it, I think, one way or the other. So if we're going to start ruling shepherds, that's fine. Being called back there because he did run behind it, but I don't think he gone the way at the line. So if we're not going to call shepherds, and I think that one was a bit...

...stiff. But that's just showed that they were riding it till the end. They I thought the raiders are really good and defense this week, even though they did leak thirty four points to the best attacking team in the compet my opinion, I just thought some of they put on some big shots, Blosi, Corey, horse Bru and stuff, are really rushing out of defense, putting a lot of pressure on the rabbitos and unfortunately the rabbit as were just too good on the day. But if they do that against most teams, most hands will buckle under the pressure. And Yeah, so I think horsebury needs to play because I think he really brings that to that forward pack. I don't know what the best forward pack is for them. It's a really tough I thought this in the preseason. I was confused who was going to miss out or who was going to start on the bench, and I don't actually think they know themselves at the moment. We've had tarp and his wife, I think this is wife, one of his mom I think his wife, come out and some form of social media and, as they clearly torn, ricky should a new one for treating Joe Tarpany like he's been treating him. Saying, trudyules, having an international player on your bench for fiftew minutes. But yeah, I haven't watched their games too and closely before this one, so I'm not going to come out and say I know what the perfect formula is, but yeah, it's just really strange. Therefore, Ward set up the thought that Pubballi isn't in the starting team, the tough and he's on the sign team. That Hudson Young's now on the fringe of the team despite starting the year as one of their best players. How are we're and I I think, sorry, I didn't pronounce that. Why that right? I've forgotten how Denny Kent was saying, but who was saying it right. It's like had a weird na or something like that. Not Sure I'll see Y H and I'll call him. I thought he was pretty decent. Maybe needs a little bit less time on the field to be more impactful, but I think he's offloading and tackle breaking ability is the closest thing to John Bateman there is in the NRL. So I think he should stay in the team personally. But yeah, that's something Ricky's got to work out because that's a really tough one. But yeah, I get why he was mad about the obstruction calls, but I think you can't complain too much. Yeah, I know bench you played for one, but yeah, it's a tough one, but I think it's fair enough. I thought Kayleb Bacon's played really well. Not sure how long chances out for it's been changed too indefinite. So that seems fairly serious. But I thought he played really well. Had A great tip on pass for one of the early tries and I wasn't his biggest fan at penrith. I think in the podcast last year I came out and said he's like I basically was just ripping him. But I think he was really good on Thursday. But then on the back to the rabbit O's side. Yeah, Wayne Benet was just really not happy about the performance. Wasn't happy with Benjie said he's been reading about himself all week, which he have to say. I enjoyed that call, but I Benett did not at all. But yeah, to be honest, the rabbitos fourteen point winners and it in attack. It didn't look like they really overstretched themselves. So yeah, they really exposed the greatest right edge with Curtis Scott and Banley Simmons and really struggling to handle that left edge of the rabbit O's. Everyone saying it's the best left edge in the calm along with the panthers. I have to say people just need to take a breath and remember the Melbourne storm left edge is still pretty good. Old Him, I don't care. Kenny Brom much and monster like. I think it's pretty hard to be that one personally, but I did get the calls, so yeah, good game all up. Enjoyed my Thursday night viewing. World on to the raiders for putting up a fight. What I'm to the Raidar Rabbit O's for getting over the line and interested to see how the two teams roll on to this week, because sadly the rabbitos did not come out of it as clean skinned, clean skate, clean shaven. I I don't know whether what I'm looking for, but they came out. They didn't come out unscathed. They took a fair toll in the game. Cameron Murrey's out for at least a month, Reynolds is out for at least a month, kemp brands out for at least a month. Jackson Paulo's out for about eight weeks. So that's going to be really testing their depth. Now I think Latreille might have one more game on the sidelines, but...

I'm not too sure. So they've got a really tough test this week against the storm and unfortunately that was probably just a big loser. Over the weekend there were some big injuries to some big players in our competition. Corey Thompson got injured for two months for the titans, Lindsay Collins and Brett Marris out for a year. Really rough on the roosters. I know they have an older list, so inevitably you're going to get more injuries, but their injury luck in the last eighteen months has been nothing short of horrid. Yeah, the scenes of Brett Morris crying really got to me. I was tearing up seeing that. When Josh came over and gave my hug and sat next to him. That was really hard to see. Hopefully it's on his last game. Well, and truly could be, though, and I'm sure if he announces retirement or whatever, will discuss it more. But yeah, if it is his last game, unreal career, probably the best singer in my lifetime, just as he was just so good. But yeah, I'll probably leave that door open until it's official or whatever happens there, and then we'll address it. But yes, some other big news as well. Zach Lomax is out for a certain amount of time. They're not sure yet because it is just the thumb, I think, but that's worrisome because I do believe he is in the blues best seventeen. So yeah, some really sad injuries, especially to the roosters and Rabbitos, which would affect their chances over the next few weeks. But moving on to the winners, and the biggest winner for this week is the Bronchos, in my opinion. Massive cut come back win over the baby brother club down the highway, the Gold Coast Titans. Everyone's been hyping them up all we year, saying they're clearly the best Queensland team, which I still believe they are. But the broncos huge comeback victory. I think they scored like thirty six straight points or something like that. Asacho had a bit of a rough start to the game. I think he had a poor ten minutes, but then he just decided to cut loose. His best game of his career, you'd have to say, a fullback anyway. Nine tackle breaks to tries to try sis, he was massive. Yeah, it was just a huge win for everyrun involved. Really happy for Keavy Walters because he's walked into a bit of a death job. They're and it's glad, glad. I'm glad that that takes the pressure off a little bit for them. And I think to Vita Pangui also deserves a shadow. He's had a really good month of football in this new look role as an edge back roll of playing eighty minutes. He's managing to harness his explosive power. He's not like a discipline and know how to say but you know he likes living on the edge and it. That was usually suited for a thirty minute role and that was about it. But he's managing to harness that for eighty minutes and he's having really good impact on games for an extended period of time. So yeah, huge win for the broncos. They also come up against the other Queensland Club, the cowboys, this week in a very winnable game which could see them go to on the Trot, which I think would have to be the first time since codd. I think they won round one and round two last year and I'm don't quote me on that, but I don't think they one backtoback games ever since, because I think they've only been the bulldogs and then on the weekend. So well, unto the Broncos, definitely more than two points that were and hopefully they can get some momentum rolling towards the rest of the season. My other winner. Yes, it wasn't the prettiest of victories, but they got the job done, similar to the broad wall, the broncos did in a lot classies style, but we'll still get around them. My beloved tigers. They really, really needed a win this week, arguably more than the broncos. Madge McGuire was under a lot of heat, the fans were getting frustrated and also getting a lipped off on twitter, and the players are probably sick of losing. So really happy for the boys. They're putting some decent performances throughout the year. Yes, some stinkers as well, but probably didn't deserve to only have one win in the bank. They've also had a tough run of fixtures, but came up against dragons team. That said, I think it just outside the top four and they won pretty comfortably. It was only eight points, but yeah, they just outplay the dragons in most aspects of the game. I thought the dragons were really...

...bad, I do have to say that, but when you're a bottom feeder like the Tigers are right now, we'll take what we can get. Just touching on the Tigers stand out so I thought Zach Seny obviously the name on everyone's lips right now. He looked really good on debut. Played in the wing, can play fullback, can play center. Interested to see where they play him this week. With Tommy till Oud being confirmed that he will be missing a game, at least a game through suspension, you'd Imagine Roberts comes back in the centers and see he stays on the wing, but I wouldn't mind him seeing in the centers. I just hope if he plays on the wing he gets enough touches of the ball because I think he has really good impact whenever he touches it. And yet for me he's got to play the rest of the year. The fact that it took him, that they took this long to get him in the team was a bit weird, but now he's there, I think he's got to stay in there. I think Dewey and Lorie, they've been the bright spots all season. I was looking at the League unlimited shout out to them doing great work in the NARL media. I looked at their dally M leader Boor because my older brother writes for them, and Dowey and Lorie were actually the only tigers player to pole Dalian votes until yesterday because not fullooma got one. My brother decided that. Don't agree with it, but fair enough. But yeah, that just shows how good they've been in a struggling team. They're still, I think they're both in the top twelve and that leaderboard. So that's a very good effort and they look like a really good full back half combination for years to come. Both young players. So really exciting for the Tigers. Like I have to say it, Luke Brooks probably is got to leave soon. I hope he leaves for himself as well. It's just going a little bit stale the Tigers and I think if you pair books are Lori and Dowey with a new, new halfback, I think that's the making of a really exciting team. Joey Lelu I thought, played his best game the Tigers. He managed, similar to to beat a Panguy. Managed to harness that. You know, that raw talent of that often leads to a lot of penalties and turnovers, but he managed to control a little bit. He used his flair when he needed to. He scored a good try. I think they need to go to him more. I think penis pain, that that's what we call him in my family. Michael Ennis, he was talking about Colie. I just said that I he was talking about it. But they do need to go to him more in the in their own ten meter line like that's what he was so good at for the raiders, so good at deciding whether to just burst through the opposition center or flick one out to his winger. So he's probably locked in his spot for the next few weeks after just coming back into the team. The only thing I will say I'm still unsure about the makeup of our forwards. I think mcay Ley deserves more minutes. He's averaging around fifteen to twenty minutes for the year and he comes on in the looks a class above. I know he's usually coming on when the other guys are tired, but he averages like he have on the weekend. The average four post contact meters per run, which is really good. Say you run eight meters, then he's given you an extra fall. Where blokes like Alex, say Fath, we're averaging six meters a run. So I think Tom and Morn should come in for say Fath. I just don't think say Fath off as much really where. I think Tom and Moran could be pretty damaging up the middle. I think mccay Ley deserves a few more minutes and yeah, it really not exciting times. Not Going to go that far, but it's going to be an interesting month coming up for the Tigers. They play a lot of teams around them in the ladder. They've got the titans, they've got the warriors, I think they've got the dragons again, and then they go through a really hard stretched before their by. But the next month there's some winnable games in there. I think the nights are also in there. So they've really got to try and harness this momentum, keep rolling through, try and pick up a few wins when they can, because you know when they face the tough teams they're going to lose and then Mike McGuire is going to be in the firing line as usual. So hopefully they can get some leeway going in the next month. But then touching on the losers. Touching on the losers...

...from the weekend, we've got the goldcost titans lost to the broncos. Yes, want to focus more on the positives here. The broncos had a good win. But yeah, the titans really just need to sort out this consistency issue. They basically just seemed to turn up every second week and that's about it. We saw them get pumped by manly, then they turned up last week, had a good win and then disappointing again this week. So they've conceded thirty six straight points to a struggling bronchos OUTFA. That's not good enough, like it's just not good enough for a team that's pushing for finals. That means they've conceded thirty plus points in two weeks running. Oh, well, three weeks running actually, because they had manly, Soe House and then here and yeah, they've just really got a lift some of the other teams around them in that seventh to eighth tonight the bracket is starting to lift like only in the warriors. So they've got to go with them, otherwise they're going to be left behind. And they have quite a few origin stars as well who are going to Miss Games. So they've got to start picking up the wins while they can. Another team in the same boat. They're the nights really disappointing. Lost to the roosters thirty eight to two. Four. I wasn't expecting them to win, but I said they were a solid chance and I know a lot of people tip them for the upset. But yeah, they got absolutely pumped. Thirty eight, two four. My parents. I didn't actually catch this game, but my dad said it was just really awful showing from the nights. They just really overreliant on ponger and Braman best what I did see. Of what I saw, yeah, they're just look got not good enough creativity. And I don't want to bash on him because, a, I haven't watched all the nights games, is she I've watched most of them, but and a be I don't at the best of times. I don't respect the hooking craft as much as others, but I just think Jaden Brayley needs to give them a little bit more out of dummy half. Everyone loves him, everyone raves about him, but I think the game is progressed past just a passing and tackling hooker. I think now you need to add a maybe if couple kicks here or there, but in particular running game. You've he only scooted six times on the weekend he touched the ball a hundred and six times. So I think he's got to take more runs out of dummy half, especially with the set restarts. You see people like Harry Grant Damian Cook. I know they're the very best at their craft, but they're taken runs, you know, every three or four tackles, it seems. So I think that's something really needs to work on because at the moment he's really not helping out the rest of the team in terms of create creativity. And yet Blake Green, I know he's just a filling but him and Kurtman at the moment, yeah, they just got a lift because right now everything's down to ponger and Bradman best and it's not sustainable way of point scoring or work. Every now and then when Pong and plays really well, like you did the other week in the Pooh game, but yeah, it's not going to work week in week out. So that's something they need to work on and it's really frustrating because their team on paper, like you, compare it to other teams around them in the same ballpark and they should be well and truly ahead of them and in my opinion they're. On paper got a team that can push the likes of, you know, the roosters even paramounter and they're just so far off, which is really disappointing and I'm sure it's each more disappointing for nights fan. So I hope they turn it around soon. And then final loser is the dragons. They've really lost their mode on the last three weeks after a great start to the season. I think it was the loss to the warriors that looks like a really, really hurt them. I think that paramatter game seems to have been a bit like their grand final and they're still a bit hungover after it. Easy lost to the Roosters, easy lost to the warriors can pretty poor lost to the Tigers realistically from their point of view. So it's just suppointing for their fans. It looked like they are a really good chance to make the eight, but if they don't change their performances in the last few weeks they're not even going to get close. They completed that sixty seven percent on the weekend, which is not good enough for a team at the best of times and struggles to score points. You know there's teams like the Rabbitos the panthers. They can get away with having poor completion rates because when they're down there they make it count, but the dragons not, not so much so. And then in defense...

...they were all for. They missed forty five tackles, and this is compared to the Tigers, who made sixteen. So the worst team the comp pretty much will the worst offense missing sixteen and you're missing three times that. It's really, really poor. And they let the Tigers have seven line breaks, which is just unheard of for a struggling tight tigers team. So the dragons really need to have a good hearth look at themself and bounce back this week. All right, that moves me on to my top eight prediction. You know we always do the rolling bracket. Once again, controversially, I'm pretty much rolling with the same top seven, even though the raiders and times are starting to falter and the roosters have stuff had suffered some key injuries. But the only change I'll make is I'm putting the eels third and the Rabbitos Four. I just think the EELS, I think they have less origin players, that's a big one, and they're seemingly less injury affected at the moment. The rabbits are struggling with the injuries they're going to lose a lot of players through it. Are through origin, and I just think the eels in the regular season. I'm not saying the rabbits are worse than the EELS, but I think the EELS will finish higher in the ladder in the regular season. So I've bumped them up to third, the rabbits down a fourth. Still Got Storm One, panthers to roost, just five rates sick. I'm still holding on with the raiders here and I need to see more for me to lose faith. And then we have the times in its seventh. I still think that a lot. I still think they are better side than the teams below them and big change. I thought their performance against panthers was very respectable. I'm chucking in the seagulls at eight. I just think the dragons haven't showed much in the last three weeks. They were my eight last week, so I'm bumping them out. Tigers, I'm good enough. The nights are aren't playing well at all. I think the warriors are a good chance. I know Jamie South thinks they're going to make it. My only concern for them is they're going to go back to New Zealand at some point and I actually think that's going to have a bad effect on the team. I thought like conceptually in at the side of the season, I thought it was going to be a good thing for them when they go back, but I'll think about it today and I just think they've built well. From the outside it looks like they've built a really resilient culture on the central coast. They don't have to travel as far. I know that works both ways with the opposition team, but they're traveling every second week where the opposition travels once and then for the year. So I think the travel will be really hard on them. Yeah, and also, like, this is so savage, but in Australia they're basically had no concentrate. No like they've been able to concentrate. They've had no distraction. Sorry, that's what I was meant to say. They're a lot of them have sadly not being able to see their families and they've just been bonding tied as a unit where I think when they go back home they might fall back in to old habits and in the past, really before two thousand and twenty, the warriors were a completely different side and haven't looked like they have in the last eighteen months. So I'm worried about the warriors when they go home, but they're definitely good enough team to make that top eight if they can avoid falling into old habits back at home. So yeah, well, onto the sea. Goes pretty crazy to think they're in my top eight after looking like a bottom feeded a few weeks ago. Or moving on to the famous list segment. I should make a name for this segment, but I just like calling it list. You know, last we got to the coaches teer list. I was thinking about with an out my draft idea, but I'm going to say that and I think I'm going to do pretty much a draft every week from a certain point and discuss who would have got drafted where in what year if there was an nrl draft. But this week I'm doing a commentators tier list. My tears are number one, which what would watch them talk about ants. So they just, you know, make everything exciting their fun. By the way, there's a mixture of commentators, presenters, borderline Comedians, but we'll all have a look at them next. I've got happy to see them. So whenever I truck on the TV see they're commentating or on a show. I'm you know, I'm happy that they're next, I've got serviceable like. I'm not mad about it.

They're going to do a good job there, not going to take away from the game or anything. Fourth, I'll COP. Obviously would prefer someone else, but I'll get over it and try and enjoy the game. And Fifth, get off my screen. I don't want to watch it when you are commentating. Hopefully doesn't rain on me here. It's getting pretty dark, but we're going to make a way through it. Andrew Voss number one, straight into the goat tier. Would watch him talk about absolutely anything, and of course I would watch him talk about aunts. Him and Brandy, for me, are the best commentary duo there is. I'm not going to be talking about the channel line crew, by the way, because I don't watch much channel line footy. So yeah, Bossi and Brandy. Without they can make any game exciting. They have the right balance of Rugby League at analysis but also having a laugh. One thing I like about the me my mum. We always, you know, like to point out things in the crowd or like when a player loses their ducks. You know, have a laugh at that. Some of the other series commentators are too focused on the game where they don't point out things like that, where Vossi often points out the things that, you know, the regular punter season enjoys. So I love that about him. Cheese, it's raining leaves out here at my house. And then next I've got been I can I have to say I don't see too much of him around. He does a few super sad days here are there. I don't watch much of NRL three hundred and sixty. I'm going to put him serviceable. I don't hate him. I think sometimes Paul Kent can bring the worst out of him on nl three hundred and sixty. Years is legit. Raining leaves here, but I wouldn't really want him to sit see him getting any more gigs. You know, you should just just does a job. Braith a NASTA. It's tough between serviceable and I'll COP. Really depends who is with A. Probably going to put him in the all Hep sometimes he's good when he's having a laugh. He's really funny, but sometimes I disagree with some of his rugby league opinions. Next I've got fletched. Serviceable is really funny at times, but other times he can be a bit annoying. Doesn't know much about footy, in my opinion, but he's funny, so I'll put him there. Corey Parker, I'm going to put him in. I'll COP. Not the biggest fan of Corey Parker. He's better than some of the ones in the past, but yeah, not the biggest fan of me. Does a job. He has a laugh sometimes, but I'll put him in. The Old Cop Gordon Talis, I'll cop once again. En I'll put a few in there, but he's not great. He's probably not built for TV, but he does a job. He does a job. Brandy would watch them talk about ants. I think he's one of the best analysts of the game at Fox League and probably next to couber con, who's actually not in my list here, but Kupakong's pretty good as well. But yeah, brandy, right up there with the Fosse, is my favorite commentator. We're actually getting rained on here, I think, so we might have to call this off, but we'll keep pushing through the rain for a little bit see what happens here. Next we have hannahless. She's serviceable. She does a job. Nothing special and yet it's under rain. So I'm going to have to call halftime on this potty. And we're back. It is approximately nine hours later, but we are back in to do the second half of the podcast. Different location, as you can tell, but we may do was what we've got. So I believe I got up to Hannah Holis in the presenters. I did realize that there's a few missings. I'll try and do a few of the end that I know I'm missing that that might be a few that I miss or there might be someone here that old but after had a horse. Is the professor. Obviously not a commentator or anything serious, but he's right up there. Not Going to put him on boss he's level, but I put him on the happy to see them. I regularly watch their segments for the money John Show on Youtube and they're very, very funny blocks. So he's right up there. Put bonney up there as well. Jess Yates or she she serviceabile? Don't just straight up and down both good line and links. Yep, she's solid. Justin Hodges. Yeah, look, I'm sorry, man, I'm putting you get off my screen. Just don't think he's really a natural at it. Yeah,...

...it's a bit rough. Obviously it's on his main job as he's a bloody good footballer, but yeah, get off my screen. Justin Hodges, sorry, mate. Keny Walters or, I'm going to put him. Happy to see them. He's very energetic, very enthusiastic, loves getting up and about. Obviously in a coaching job now so he's not commentating, but we'll put him in the happy to see them. Laura Pitts, serviceable. Again, I probably prefer her to jest Yates, but still, once again just solid, does the job. Mawmningar or, I'll go, I'll call up. I won't put him in the get off my screen, but he's a right I don't think he has adds too much the experience but he does a job. Maddie Russell, happy to see them. Very, very good at his job. Similar to like a Andy Raymond was a Fox. Just bit of sideline work, sometimes comments, but usually sign lime work. Tries to get a few cheap gags here or there. Maddie John's happy to see them. Probably not putting him in the wood. Watch them talk about ants, tea like fossy and Brandy, but very funny man. Watch his pot. Listen to his podcast in lockdown and here him and his family a very funny so put him there. Megan Barnard, or I'll put her in. Happy to see them. I think she's one of my favorite. She's probably my favorite out of the Laura and Jess, but she's right up there. Very good at a job. Michael Lennis, or really depends who he's with. Similar to Braith, at times he could be very annoying. At times he could be pretty funny, like he was on I think it was Thursday night, Human Vossi. We're just taking the PISS. Might have been Thursday. I'm not sure that would mean the Tigers game. Actually, I'm getting confused. But and it's I'll go serviceable, nothing special. Sometimes his pronunciation of words like it is as the most Ozzie accent of all time, like fool goes in for the might, like he says the toy waggers, where it's the Tigers. Maybe that's right. Hindy, I prefer Hindi to Fletch. I'm going to go hindy. Happy to see them. I think Hindi Ken and talk about footy when he wants, whereas fledge not so much. But yeah, he's also very funny. Man. Can Ti get off a screen. Shocking blown said blocker. I've to say, even though I'm a Tiger's Fan, I'm not a fan of blocker. I'm just going to put him in the alcohol borderline. Get off my screen, but I'll just go. I'll call. I think a lot of his opinions are outdated. Some of the things he says about like high shots and stuff just belong in the s or ever when he played. I don't think he adds too much, but he has a good laughs sometimes, so that that'll keep him in. Warren Smith, now that's a tough one. Probably got him. He's not as good as Bossi, but he's probably the second best play by play care on my opinion. I actually don't mind Bretton speed, but yeah, I'll go him. Happy to see them likely set until Warren Smith. Call Yvon Sampson, serviceable. She does very well. I think she does Super Saturday. She's very good at that, but yet just good at a job. Who else are we missing? Cooper Cronk, I'll put him in serviceable. Very smart guy but sometimes needs to be a little bit more succinct with his points. We usually laugh about it with our family. He likes to make a point over like two minutes, which isn't really the greatest in a life sporting game because you know, the Games always moving. Dangnanne. I like Dan at the start, but now I probably prefer the other guys to him, so I'll put him as serviceable. I don't think he's anything special. I think he's probably better for radio than TV, but yeah, he's solid. Anyone else? I'm missing Barney kind of account of him. Andy Raymond, if he was in there, all to put him in the would watch them talk about ants. He was one of my favorites. Brandon speed, happy to say I actually think he's pretty funny, although he doesn't know as much better rugularly, because some of the others is pretty funny. So yeah, let me know your thoughts on that list. Let me know if there's any I...

...missed. Maybe do channel line one in a few weeks, but I don't really watch much channel line L. I know it was gus could would be get off my screen and so would raps, because they're both ninety eight. That's that's the average as well, not combined or right. That moves us into our week round at nine prediction. Didn't believe it was around eight on the weekend. Sure better the week. It's a tough week. This one is really looking forward to. It should be a really, really good ground of footie. The only one I'm really confident in is the panthers to be the sharks. They're some other ones that you done. Seventy five percent sure they'll win. Definitely going to tip them, but not going to put my house on it. We're like panthers to beat the sharks. The sharks and really bad form right now. They are due for a bit of a bounce back performance, but I think even at they're best they're not good enough to beat the panthers. So, and it's also a blue bet stadium. Panthers don't would in general, so they'N. I'm going to lose there. Ever since the John Morris Sucking, they've just gone down here with the sharks, which is good to see because the way they treated John Morris they deserve a bad results this year. So yeah, actually can't want the panzers to smack and really upset of the week. I'm going to go. There's a few. I think you're a good chance this week but I'm going to go the bronchos to beat the cowboys. And I know it's a bit weird to bind to the bronchos after one win over a non bulldogs team in you know, eighteen months. But I think on Paiver, if you compare the cowboys to the bronchos, bronchos are a better team, I'd say their form lines, although the cowboys have more wins, if you actually adjust it for who they've played and how they've played, I would say the teams to been playing fairly similar. Yes, the broncos got that blowout loss against the EELS, but I'll scribble that one off. Where the cowboys just beat the Tigers, they beat it out of form braiders. They lost to a warrior's team, where the Broncos have been putting up some okay performances against some tough teams. So I'd say similar. Their formnds similar and the broncos seems better on paper. So I think the broncos have more match winners. So I'm going to back in bronchos for backtoback victories. They're paying two dollars twenty five. It is hard to play in towns. Will but broncos usually get up for the cowboys games and I reckon that win will do wonders for their confidence. And looking at the game spreads, so I've got the panthers. I like them at minus eighteen point five start. Think they're going to put the sharks to the sword, to be honest, after not a down week last week but a tieder game than usually against the seagulls. The raiders are playing the nights in I'm not sure where it is, but it's not in camera. It's somewhere in the country, I believe, or it could be in the northern territory. Not a hundred percent sure, but they're the line is six point five and the raiders a favorites, obviously, but I reckon the raids will bounce back. The nights are in really, really bad form. Got Pumped by thirty four by the roosters. Yes, the raiders aren't playing great and yes, we don't know if any of their injured players will come back, including George Williams. But yeah, I reckon their chance for a bounce back and I think they're going to win. So that's a pretty small margin, so it's a good chance happening. And then the broncos. Obviously at the line. I tip them in the head to head. So why not at the line? Actually, I don't know if I'll be tipping the broncos in Headtohead, but that's the my low most likely upset. Some of the other likely upsets just running through the Games here. I think the storm will be the RABBITOS. Are Not too confident the rabbitos. After all, their injury losses are by the way, it just came out in between the recording of this that Adam Reynolds has avoided surgery and could be back this weekend. So that's good news for the RABBITOS. I think their eels will be the roosters. I think they might be too short odds in terms of like I think the roosters might be decent value, but I'd still tip the EELS. At banqueest the raid is to be the nights. I like that. The Tigers and the titans. I would tip the titans, but I do think the Tigers are a sneaky chance. Then on the Sunday manly in the warriors. Yeah, I'd probably tip manly just given their recent form. Warriors are good team...

...and have a a crude quite a few wins, but I just think mainly would be too good on the day. And then dragons dogs. You can't really tip. The bulldogs can use so the dragons are playing bad, but you got it back in them there to have a bounce back victory over the doggy's. So yeah, exciting round a footy. There's no real shore bets apart from the pencils to be the sharks. So they should get seven competitive games, hopefully anyway. And hopefully I'm here next week talking about a brilliant round of football that is captivated the country and the world's rugby league fans, because that would be great to see. And then we've got magic around next weekend and then before we know it it's origin. So very exciting period. Right now in the NRL the ladder start and take shape. I've got the panthers up top, the EELS and rabbits tied for second, then the rousters and storm fourth and fifth. So the big dogs have already separated themselves. But below that, sixth and down is going to be so competitive this year, especially if the raiders don't get the shit together. Teams like Manly Times Warriors Dragons, sharks, even the nights, even the Tigers, maybe even the cowboys. Any one of them could make finals. So that's really, really exciting for the competition. After the last couple of years, you know, the top eights been decided fairly early on, so hopefully that keeps going. And yet go the tigs. Good luck for your team's let me know what you've thought about the episode down the comments and social media. But yet cheers for another week and we'll see see next week. Cheese. By.
