Welcome back to the on the board PODCAST, another episode of the best potty going round and we're back for what's not the final I don't think it's going to be the final episode, but the final episode where we look forward to a game of AFL in two thousand and twenty one. Any future footy content will be either reviewing stuff or looking ahead at the trade period and stuff like that, which I'm sure rows very came for. But today we've got a big episode lined up. Obviously huge grand final preview. We're also going to just give our thoughts on the Brown load. That happened on Sunday night. We haven't convened since then, so interesting or takes. And then we're also going to run through the top eight season reviews. Obviously Melbourne and the dogs season maybe will like our views will change on the weekend, but for the most part of say the same. So yeah, we'll run through those, given that we did the other ten the other week. So yeah, blockbuster episode, you'd have to say. But before we get into the season reviews, thoughts on the Brownlow. Pilch personally very happy with the result of the Brownlow. Obviously first first port rep to get it done. I was surprised at how many votes you pulled, but started. Yeah, I think everyone was surprised the fact that he tied the record when no one even knew who was going to win. It doesn't quite add up to me, but Ye, have fair play. I was looking before and his odds to win next year's a like six bucks. Like, I know you just won this year's, but surely he is not even the favorite going into next year? Like to me, I just as not does. They're always solid plated as soon as they win. It's ridiculous. But yeah, and also, yeah, like six dollars for anyone for next year. I'm wanted better odds than that. Geez, like, who knows what could happen. You could do an ACL first round. I am leaning on my wooden desk, so don't worry, coach, the Jinks Lords might come. Well, yeah, but rolly, got your thoughts on the Brownlow. That was good. Who's close, like who are wanted? But I think I got to the end and once we saw wines was level with bond, when you bond sort of tired it out. So that's when new wines was home. But I ended up putting fair bit of money on it and FIG was uput of five hundred bucks but came out with about four hundred. So I lost. I lost about one hundred and fifty. So I mean it's not the worst. She's out and I was it was a good night. A few here there's that was not too happy about with some of the voting, but I will will take it. Was a good night. Hopefully this way can will be had better. Yeah, in terms of the team like most votes per team multis that we addressed last week, who were the ones that let most people's multis down? I haven't really check to one each clubs. I think Josh Kelly was a big one for the giants. He supposed to pole like five or six more than the others, but Tranto and hopper caught him and beat him pretty comfortably. So I was annoying. Collingwood, I think lots of people jump into go we but I think Chris PA won that. I think Color Mills Won Sydney's. Few people had Parker. So apart from that, off the top of my head, I can't reallymember too much. I remember my prediction of Benny Keys, trump's piltures of text walker fair and square. So my man be keys took the cake there. But yeah, part from that, I was all co wanted and get up lines. took the chocklist there. Harry mccay's well for Carlin was a good prediction by a few of us as well. But apart from that, yeah, nothing else to extreme took Miller was a shocking one. I thought he pulled so much better than he did. But and I just guess the arms in really ride him. I know they lost a lot of games by a lot of points, but thought he was going to be a bit more recognized. But yeah, those are the main ones that screwed me out. Did he hate I got a point something out?...

I was actually the only one that said Crisp for Collingwood. So well, yeah, right now, you are right. Hoodie said maybe an outside of it. He didn't actually back at me in so yeah, their play to you there. Did did Miller Win Gold Coast considerably or like was he yeah, still comfortably, but I like, I think, lots of like you. I don't think you pold twenty votes and I think most people, lots of people, would have had it for that, would including me. So yeah, that's pretty annoying, but I guess lesson learned for playing in a bad team or betting on a bloke plays in a bad team. Yeah, obviously, like some of my calls were disgraceful, like her and winning, but some of the winner. At in the five vote thing, I actually had tranto above Kelly, but then when I when I changed it down to three votes, Kelly went above him, which is interesting. So obviously they didn't see it that way. But yes, Chris, that's a bit of a yeah, I didn't really back to go and also back to mills, so I'm happy with that one because I thought he was unreally Shit. But anyways, that's enough dribble about that. Into the top eight sides, as we did the last time he did these season reviews, we're going to be giving out an MVP, a best young player, I. Most improved, and a rating out of ten. Versus the expectation we had coming into the year, five being basically bang on our expectation. So we'll go eight to one based on their regular season order. Just quickly. The best young players, like anyone who's born in like one thousand nine hundred and ninety eight or younger. So yeah, we'll do this to then we've got the grand final preview to bring us home. So first of all the bombers will get road to chat about them, as I know he's like a big fan of all their youngsters. How'd you think the bombers went this year? Obviously surpassed their expectations of bottom four. I think most people cement to the bottom for to be them, the Hawks and obviously North and the crows, but obviously to play finals as a huge result for them. They obviously came up against the dogs, who now in the granny. So in hindsight it's obviously it's no bigger that they obviously lost to them. They did put up a good fight for about half a footy, but yeah, it's overall really good season, really promising. All their youngsters really took part the competition, especially early on with Nick Cocks. Apparently he's two hundred centimeters. I don't know if anyone knows, but yeah, I think the MVP probably goes to Zach Merritt. They're just pippying. Darcy parashing obviously just a bit more consistent throughout the entirety of the season. Parish obviously had his really stronger on a form in the middle of that period, but I think marit was just a bit more a liable best young player. Probably Archie Perkins might have to give it to like the with the it was probably between him and Nick Cock. Sorry. And I think it's the same arguing with merit and Paris probags a bit more consistent and most improved. I think Paris is the obvious one of the most people can go for. But shauts to. I will snelling. Her I think, came third in their best and fairest other night from not mistaken and his hammers man. So he's obviously had a really strong season for them and really well deserve considering I was taken in the midseason rookie draft, I think in the same year as Mirland pick it. So obviously revitalized his career. So that's really good to see from him. But yeah, I'm expecting just sort of the same stuff from the bombs this next season. Expecting to be there, about to round the top eight or you just missing out, but we'll wait and see. Yeah, will snelling's an elite story. If I'm not mistaken. Pill to I think it was just twindling his sums in the portmgoose and then as you meant to record a chance, I think in the two thousand and nineteen midseason and ever since then. Yeah, he's been a pretty solid piece of that Essen in midfield. My awards, I'll give my MVP to parish, just ahead of Merit, obviously using my voting system here. So he whipped out a lot of five voters. Most improved Paris as well. No, it's a bit boring. Buddy was a weapon and best young player. People probably don't think of this guy's young, but he was born in one thousand nine hundred and ninety eight. All Australian squads snubbing and...

...that's the Jordan Ridley super coach, God man, while he super coach, got man for like a month and sort of just became marriage. But yeah, bit of a weapon in the back half of the bombers, one of them more consistent players. And then rating out of ten, I'll be honest, probably got to go close to a ten here, considering like fourteen to go from bottom three, bottom to bottom for expectations to then making finals and like people thought they were maybe a chance of upsetting the dogs. I'll maybe give them a nine voter. But they did also resigned merit, which is a pretty big positive for them. Yeah, I'll give them a ten. Why not back them? In huge season there were like no one really knew what to expect from their coach and he looks like he's going to be a pretty good ones. So, yeah, what he's doing getting out of that squad is a lot better than what some coaches are getting out of their list, AKA Carltons. So yeah, Shad's going the ring as well. I'm going to get them as well. Yeah, yeah, you know, good stuff, Pich. What do you reckon about the bombers? Yeah, hit the nail on the head. I think I had them maybe even bottom two in my preseason prediction and they've pulled out a top eight finish with a lot of young talent, very deep midfield. So a lot to be excited about and I'm going to have to give merit the MVP Ridley young player and parish most improved. Yeah, yeah, kill season really like I feel like they're expectations almost updated to where they were in the ladder like halfway through the year. But if you look at his a whole, the fact that they made finals is outrageous. But yeah, they're probably still say our that they haven't won the finals yet, but finals game, but that'll come. Can't see why they can't improve next year. All right, the giants, pilch giants are up there. Actually, do you like the giants or this one's always get confused. I like them both, but the giants. Howd you think they went this year? Yeah, I like them both, but the swannies are my second favorite. But yeah, giants were another interesting one. They kind of had an up and down year and but they just kind of grind it out wins and ended up seventh, which was higher than I had them, higher than most people had them. So definitely not a bad season. I think next year again they're going to be kind of fifty. Tough to pretty exide from my from my views, but we'll see what happens. MVP, Josh Kelly think, as we went over before, snubbed at the Brown low young player Toronto and most improved Sam Taylfdown back tornto still considered young. Yeah, one thousand nine ninety eight. Okay, fair enough. Yeah, he's one of those blokes that current who was like, I think Jis Simkin I said last time, where everyone's like they really one thousand nine hundred and ninety eight. Yeah, he's just pretty much as soon as he came into the big field is just played like a reliable veteran. But Yeah, I've actually given Tran to my MVP and best young player and then agree with the sound taler cool huge year for LE on Cameron. I think I was one of the people who is sort of saying he was in the hot seat coming into this year. I think if they finished like ten or lower, I think his job could have been in trouble. But because of sort of like not as hectic as Collingwood, but they've they sort of fell out of a premiership window pretty fast. But yeah, what they did this year. They had a lot of big scalps and yet good season. I'd have to say they've got some issues to sort out this offseason, mainly goal scorers. Really they don't and I think Jeremy Finlayson might be leaving whatever. But yeah, they've got a sort that out because I don't think you can just back in Harrison Himmelberg as you number one key forward in a finals match. But I'm sure they'll figure something out there. Rating out of ten probably, given the seven I think it was not too much better than what we were expecting, but yeah, wouldn't have pretty them to make finals and win a finals game...

...either. So, yeah, fair play to Leon Cameron and the orange tsunami row it. What do you think about the giants? Yeah, obviously, given the talent I've got on the list, I think I was half expected them to make finals. Again, I can't recall if I had them in my top eight prediction or not. I feel like I might have, but I didn't expect them to bottom out or, you know, fall down a lot. I, like lots of people did. I just think yeah, like I said, the talent was just was so it was just too good for that to happen and obviously had to get into the finals but also win that match as well. was huge. And they also took it to gelong rather to the last court. I don't know if that was the impact of the commentator is still trying to make a game out of it or not, but it was like a five goal margin in the last but anyways, good efforts from them. But, like you said, hammers definitely need to address that Tall Ford Line. It, Hogan, was a good inclusion. I think it was a bit risky, but I didn't give up much for him, so I didn't really matter. But it's obviously played his role there, but it was obviously out in that semi final, which was a bit of a bummer because that was going to be a really strong attack and definitely would have made the game a lot more difficult to predict. So whether they continue with the Hogan Himmelberg combination will wait and see. But yeah, my mvp just going to go to toby green. I think he's probably their most valuable player. If you want to stretch out the definition, you know, you just the absolutely match winner for them and these the only player in the comp really that does that. I mean they can go forward, kick five goals or play the midfield and haven't incredible impact. There's obviously lots of players I can do that, but toby does it does it in his own way. Best Young Player, I'm sure. disclaimer. I actually didn't realize that the age was one thousand nine hundred and ninety eight. onmints. I'm sort of more just going to go for the genuine kids of like two thousand and two thousand and beyond silot. These boys tackle the slightly better ones because I would have gotten for Ridley, obviously, but I'll go lucky ash. I think lucky ash provided the dash off halfback a lot of the Times where you tour apart collingwood earlier in the year, which was a bit of a breakout game for him. So I think it's gonna be really exciting and the years to come. I think next you might be a another just breakout year for him, hopefully most improved by Jakob hopper. Not Many Saur us also not many would have predicted hopper coming in the Australian top forty. I would have probably thought Josh Kelly was going to be in there over him. But super consistent and just an absolutely inside bull for them if they didn't have enough already, as force can earlier, out of that midfield. And Yeah, it's just going to be a really solid player for them overall. The rating weekly in them an eate. I think lots of people of he saw them falling down the ladder and they were probably there was a decent chance of it happening. But now the fact that they're able to stick in the top of the competition, make the finals, win a finals well was huge and also and going to be factoring in the fact that Josh Kelly resigned for seven years. So yeah, with the giants, if, whenever they get someone signed for how long, it's obviously a huge, huge deal. So yeah, I'm going to give them an eight and depending on offseason stuff what happens, I'm probably going to expect them to finish top eight next year as well. Yeah, very exciting times for the giants. Yeah, big resigning that I have to say. A freaking hate long contracts, like anything longer than for years I can't stand because I just think it's shit. But Anyway, fair play. Fell again the bag and he would definitely be good for like another three or four or five years, but not sure what it would be like when he's about forty two in his final year. Yeah, Lucky Ash, big fan of him. Is My favorite kind of player, the booming kickoff, the halfback. He got dropped like through the middle of the year, but standardly on Cameron behavior, just dropping good players. But yeah, hopefully he keeps his progression going because he'll be a good player in the future or at the Schwanni's go back to Pilach, given they are he's number two few year for the Schwannee's, I think a Horse Long, my Paul's a slew miracles. Really fastest rebuild ever. How'd you see that season there? Yeah, just...

...an incredible season, pretty much. See the only way you can sum it up. Long lives clearly one of the best in the business, and all their young talent just looks unreal as well, especially these new draft draft picks gold and looks like he's going to be an absolute beast. Pretty hard not to give them a ten out of ten. To be honest. I think they're going to be right up there next season, around the top for pushing for a flag again. So what I'to them? MVP? Think calorm mills was slightly better than park in this season, so I'm going to give that to him. Best Young Player, McCarton, just a rocket fullback, and most improved Justin mcinernye. Yeah, actually be fan of BA can Ernie. I'm probably not going to give them a ten, to be honest. I think the fact that they didn't win that finals game is a bit of a Downer, but yeah, probably got a nine. Apparently horse long marvelsn't even like nominated for the coaches award, like he wasn't even in the list like the top for or whatever, which I thought was outrageous. But that's our I reckon. He like a genuinely make a case that he deserves in over the whole thing, not just a nomination. But yeah, MVP, I've got mills, young player, m carton and improved. I've actually got mills as well because I think this is the first year. We've always seen how good he can be, but whether it be through maybe not utilizing him correctly or so, there was just better players standing in the they I think this is the first year of really seeing that it can be a Australian tie. Midfield are just weak and weak out absolute beast role. twinnies. Yeah, lots of US obviously didn't see this coming. Even round one when they flogged Brisbane at the gap, it was obviously a huge statement and they actually stuck with it. So huge coudos to them. Obviously didn't get the job done in the finals, so I think it was all building up for them to really take it to the top teams in the finals. They obviously challenged and beating a lot of them throughout the year. So to fall in their first game, I'm Olbeit by a point, and they should have definitely one, especially in that last quarter, but still obviously hurts the way they're going to see the season. But all and all, obviously got a really young list and you know, I can't seen them falling because of that thing. You're only just going to get better. So Mv pay for me. Think Peel cheered on the head. Color Mills probably just edges out Parker. Best Young play I'll give it to errol Goulden, absolute raking left foot, obviously already one of the best kicks in the competition and it's going to be setting up whichever toll forward is going to be kicking the goals with the years to come, with buddy probably going to be finishing up soon. Most improved probably Tom Hickey, with Gorne and Grundy and big Sean Darcy taking the the spotlight for much of the competition. Shot Tom he key was obviously played a huge part for the swans. Always he had a huge right problem, but you know, bring him in for next to nothing and then playing the role he did was absolutely huge for them. So give them the most improved and given they were obviously had a really strong season, given their expectations, but to fall short, and just the first game of the finals when we all thought they may go deep. I mean so I'm gonna not rate them as highly as you guys. I'll give him an eight point five out of ten, though. Yeah, they're enough very good scores across the board. Going to be an interesting offseason for Sydney, I think, because like Dawson's leaving, Hugh it's probably leaving, Dylan Stevens might be leaving. So they've got some things to answer. But you don't steps resigned, by the way, are real. That's good news for them, but the likes of like Braden Campbell and, like me Donald, we didn't even really see much of them, and definitely not the best of them this year. So there's a lot more progression to come for the Schwannees. Also good to see buddy back and just playing a lot more this year. That was one of the hearts of the season. I reckon Dogg. He's obviously the first grand final participant will be covering...

...here. To make the grand final from fifth on the ladders a pretty good achievement, but not really the biggest surprise given how great they were during the regular year. Rowy, would you make of the doggy season? Yeah, it was given last year, they'll see had a huge amount of talent, especial in at midfield, but to fall short to the mighty saints was disappointing. But you know, we knew that they were going to be more hungry this year, given more games in Melbourne and just given the heartbreak of losing in the finals, especially in close game. That always hurts. So it was no surprise that they came out and, you know, really took the competition by storm. Obviously, the researchers of Josh Bruce up forward helped for the majority of the year and just, yeah, they're midfield. We all thought is just, you know, they got too many players where's ever in a play. But I think it just it showed to be as vestiles it needed to be. And then plays coming out and improving like they did, like Bailey Dal for example, of halfback. Who would have thought that? You know, twelve months ago you'd be saying baily dolls and Australia halfback. Obviously those little factors all combined and chipped in. Obviously, the finished fifth, which given their slow ender the season, but the fact that they're making another grand final from outside the top four is huge for them. So for that reason I'm going to give them a nine point five rating and I was pretty harsh not to give them the ten, but I just think, given I think most of US predicted them to pe top eight, it's and they actually did finish fifth, probably roughly where lots of us had them, and they didn't like come out of the top eight or anything. I'll give them an outside of the top eight. Sorry. I'll give a nine point five. MVP to the bond. Obviously just finished second in the Brown either night will see if he's got arguably about a better metal around his neck. Goat tomorrow night. Best Young play I'll give it to cody waitman. Obviously he's got US fair share of fans and haters, but now I love obviously a boods boy, I'm sure all of us do. But yeah, obviously can't wait to see him plate tomorrow night, hopefully sit on a few heads and as a huge target them. Up forward and most improved got to be Bailey Dale. Like I mentioned before, off that halfback's got one of the best kicks in the competition. So yeah, can't wait to watch him Tom Right on and see what happens. Yeah, definitely a huge year. I'm actually going to give them a nine, probably half for a team that could potentially be the premiers, but I just think I feel like they've actually underperformed the last few seasons. So yeah, they're the fact that they like were premiership contender wasn't really like it was a very good effort to bounce back from where they were, but I don't think it was like outrageous. Well, I think the fact that Melbourne my premiership contenders, was our more outrages. So yeah, I'll give them a nine, regardless of if they win. Very good year though, yet. MVP, the Bond Besh young player, obviously with gone a bit older. So the BADS, lank and most improved. Of actually given it to liver, obviously very high. My voting thing. Most clearances in the whole AFL and cross the regular season. If you told me that at the start of the year would have been your hand off, because that would have just been outrageous cool. And also the fact that he gets tagged in a midfield with bomb McRae, for Law Dunkley, all those blokes to shows how much of an impact he has when he's, you know, allowed to do his own things. So yeah, I think he is sort of like I think he was genuinely stiff not to make the Australian team this year. I think it was that good, but sort of just got unfairly treated. You to the fact that he's seen as a bit of a third wheel to mcrane bomb, which is fair enough because they are elite players. So yeah, huge year from libber and he, as I mentioned, nine out of ten. Yet love code. You might talk about him later. For one of my predictions for the final pilch. What you make at the dogs? Yeah, very good. As you said, they've underperformed like the last five years of had this insane lists, particularly midfield, and they've...

...just hovered around that seven to ten mark. And then I think this year they just finally sorted out their consistency, because they've always had the ability to beat the good teams, but they've they've also lost some pretty pretty average games and they sought that out this year got themselves into a granny. So for that I am going to give them a ten out of ten because I don't think you could have asked for much more. As a dog's Fan, and then Bontom Pelly, MVP, clearly, Aren Norton, clearly young player for me. Over Smith, think he's one of their most valuable players. If you take him out of the equation, I think their Ford Line goes to shit. And most improved Bailey Dale. Yeah, Dale had an absolute blind I got to be interesting to see what happens because you know they've got quite a few talented players and there the goose that surely get ripped apart by the other team scouts that come pecking but we'll see what happens. They're on to the top four sides, the brizly lions. Bit of an interesting season for Brisbane, I'd have to say. I think if you split it up into quarters, there's like two really good quarters and then to maybe not so. I think it was about round seven or eight they were like my number one seed in the whole competition and then they sort of went off the boil throughout the middle and then by the end we were saying they were a smoky for finals. So yeah, it's a bit of a weird one. Not really progression, but I don't know if that's what we're really expecting in terms of my award winners, MVP Daniel Ridge. Obviously the algorithm loves daddy rich, biggest kicker in the COMP, which is an underrated traits, so he's May vp run on that one. But Oh my God, yeah, we get it poured. Have apparently four of the top five biggest kickers. Maybe it's just because you rge port week in, week out, but Hu mclick it's best young player. Absolute Dog Act, including in including him in that, but anyway. And then most improved of actually gone zorker. I know he was in the lite player before this year, but for me he was genuinely their best midfielder this year and probably was the third or fourth wheel last year. So I think that's a pretty huge progression in itself. Rating actually have no idea where I predicted them to come, to be honest, but I'll give them a I don't know, I don't know, actually tough. I'll probably get in the six out of ten. It's probably a bit harsh, but like pretty sure they were top for last year, so I don't think they really over performed or anything like that. So yeah, Pilch, thoughts are you don't like Brisbane. Sorry about that, but yeah, what are your thoughts? And Lines? Yeah, me, I mentioned Mixta now I won't mention damage stay. He's had enough mentions on this podcast. But yeah, for me, the lines actually had a very disappointing season. They showed their glimpses of being the best team in the COMP but overall they fell from equal first to what should have been fifth, out in straight sets. Well, one one of the finals was at the Gab are, adding straight sets again. So I don't think the fans have much to be happy about with this season, considering how good their teams meant to be. So I'm going to give them a five out of ten. MVP, jared lions. was stoked to see him actually Powell on the Brown load, showing that he's finally getting some credit, and then start a bitch for both the other two awards for me. Yeah, they're enough huge year for him. Yeah, actually tempted to downgrade my rating from five because, now that I think about it, is probably exactly where we expected them, but now I'll keep it at six. Also shout out to camerainer. That was a bit of a Downer on their year. They would be an exciting to see him run through the G that's rally. They were stiff with injuries or year. Yeah, that's true. Roy, thoughts on the line. Yeah, you guys summed up pretty well. I think we all expect to them to be sort of top...

...for top six and they just like into fourth. But yeah, like you said, Howm it was obviously in periods of the year where there either premiership favorites or smoke. He's to miss. So yeah, I mean for a top team like we've seen now the last few years, we really did ere to start seeing some success and when just not seeing it, when it come, when it's sorry, went it matters. See the MV pay as he said, pillage. Great to see Jared Lyons getting some recognition on Brown and night. So he will claim my MVP best young player. Just for the bit of variety, I think caden coleman was huge for them. Obviously offers a bit of Dash, a bit of speed and some really nice ball use. And Yeah, most improved brandon starts of each as well. Obviously flies under the radar a lot at the moment but fully expecting to be in all Australian lockdown defender. I think he's that good. Just no one can get goals off him if you look at the stats. And Yeah, given another year going out and straight sets, even when having home finals, obviously not ideal. But yeah, going to give them just a five. I was tended to give him a four point five or four, but now they still finish top four and all that. So can't sert a exceeded expectations. But it'd be too harsh to go lost. So they're going to take a five for me. Yeah, I didn't give him my Best Young of Ward, obviously, but shout out to Devin Robertson a long time and move the huge a the cuper coach side. But more importantly, I reckon. He looks like he's going to be a really, really good player and I think in a couple of years he will be one of the one of the big three lines players. Just going every cent about or I can. He will be a beast. But Yeah, looking forward to Camragn and they've got some exciting talent. ZAC Bailey as well, had a really, really good year, so share out. See Him all. Right, top three, just along. I let Pilch, actually I let row go through July. I don't know what to say. If it's a long. Yeah, I mean coming into this year I expected them to be the premiership favorite thing. Their list was incredible, especially given their offseason acquisitions. But yeah, all in all, obviously, if they finished third and all that made the Prelim, got heavily defeated. But yeah, on papermaking it third and to the prelim suggest you know, they had a very strong season, but you know, if you read deeper into it, they just collapse them themselves later in the year. Their game plan was flawed. It was too slow, as we all saw. Melbourne is completely monster them in that prelumb. So yeah, it was an ideal for the cats at all. They're aiding list didn't help them when they obviously thought experience was going to be the way to go this year. I thought it was going to be the way to go, given in especially in this final series, sor I, when there's so much uncertainty, I thought was going to be the cats that come away with it. But I was clearly wrong and was happy to really wrong because I hate you along. So yeah, pretty it was. Obviously all expected them to finish in that top form. They did. We expect them to make the Prelim and they did, but obviously felt short too much better team. So MVP for me goes to Camp Goa three. Obviously one of the players that played a huge role for them this year and could always rely on. Best Young player that literally no one. So I'm for once I actually don't wanted back to one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine, to Jack Henry, obviously a huge player for them, really versatile and all that. Most improved. I'm going to give it to Brad close. I think of the ladder half of the year he became pretty important play for them, especially the last few games with all the stars running out there and disappointing for fans. I think lots of fans were actually, you know, showing their loving for Brad close. He's Bullius, was exceptional and really good hands on him as well. So a bit of an unsung hero in those last few Games which they obviously felt short. But think it was really improved player and cemented his spot in that best twenty two. But yeah, get to give him a running of five out of ten. Didn't exceed any expectations but, like I said, probably too harsh Gim below a five thing. It's pretty harsh to give a team that finish on the top eight and played finals below a five. But yeah,...

...unfortunately the Times nearly up. All these play look, everyone says that all that they've done it before, they's happened before, but all these players are going to run out of the exact same time. So yeah, it's an interesting see what happens with them, because it's not like you can one recruit ten mature age players in an offseason. It's just want real sickally won't happen. So yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens the years to come for them, but for this season, going to give him a five. Yeah, I'm actually going to be a bit harsh. I just think if you told me Richmond didn't make finals and West Coast, I would have probably predicted that delong's odds would be about a dollar twenty. Like I just think in as you mentioned row, in a year of uncertainty, the other teams in the top five who were really the only premiership contenders, none of them really have shown selves to be like proven weapons and finals. I know Gelong haven't really either, but they've had the experience. I've been there enough. I would have thought they would find the premiership of Richmond and west coast weren't there. So yeah, for me it's probably a three. They it's a bad injury luck, but that's actually just going to happen if you have an old team. Obviously older players more likely to get injured. So I don't think you can let them off the hook for that one. But insane. I know, like Cameron was injured a lot danger. Don't know if it was healthy at all, and Tom Stewart obviously went down late. Speaking of Tommy Stewart, he's my MVP, just reckon. I know a lot of people bag him out. Maybe saying that like he's super coach is just a lot better, a better reflection of him as a player than what he actually does in the game, but I think that's not true. I think he's actually really, really good defender. Brandon Parph it's my best young player. I know no one really gives a shit about brandon path it with the greatest respect, but think is a pretty handy player and most improved Jack Henry. Also Fin Smith. If you look on his wikipedia. Not sure that is about. But I tell you what, there's some strange things on some of the lesser known players AFL players. WIKIPEDIA is like. I was on Leam dug ins the other day and he is currently a member of Mandaclorian FC, which I can only assumes he's pro club's team name. Otherwise I'm they're confused as to what that is. Matt lucky, you mentioned maybe indoor soccer, which could also be true, but yeah, and then shout out to Brag. Close red hates and for some reason, but yeah, he started picking up volts in a star started line up towards the end of year, which is not an easy thing to do. PILCH, another hater of Jlong. Not Sure I keep introducing you like that, but what do you think of the cats season? Yeah, you boys painted the picture and, as you alluded to, I think it's going to take a lot for them to maintain it next year. Just extremely old list and as we've seen in the past, when like an old when an old team just gets absolutely slaughtered in finals. I know it wasn't a grand final, but the qualifying final they got smashed, pretty limb smashed, boy, even more. We've seen it with port and Oseven, the giants in two thousand and nineteen. The following year they just that's it, so I think there's a genuine chance that it happens to delong. In terms of awards, I had Guthree, but I'm actually going to change it to Stewart copy corker. Think he's more integral to their team, as we saw when he got injured just the kind of felt a shit. Best Young player. I avoided the twenty three year olds for this and there was absolutely no one, so I've given it to Max Holmes, and when you're giving your team's young player of the year awards to Max Holmes, I think that paints the picture. Nothing else needs to be said there. And most improved Jack Henry. He's a gun. Yeah, I can't believe Jack Henry's turned out to be good, like what us we love doing his rookie year because he was making a strange faces out there, bit like Phil Jones of Man United Fame, but he's actually a pretty good player.

Yeah, I was just forgotten to mention like. Another reason why I've read them so poorly is they didn't just losing a prelim. They got absolutely annihilated and I don't know, they're just such a frustrating team. Like Quintin knockle is an absolute beast and they should like someone like that should be playing every game. Like I don't care if there's someone like short higgins or something on your squad. knokles are better player than just pick him. But anyways, that's yeah, I mean, as you guys mentioned, very interested to see what they do in the next couple of years, because this strategy definitely has an expiry date. Second last team. We will cover Port Adelaide. Obviously Pillach got the put Beny on, big portelaide fan, so we'll just go straight him. I won't talking to Jubal first. What do you make the power season, mate? Yeah, I think I'm just going to keep it brief. Very good season and underrated season until the last game, which was just a huge disappointment. That's about it. That last game. That results pretty much taken my writing from a nine or ten all the way down to a five or six. Given expectations, I think grand final, to make the grand finals a must, and we failed miserably in the end. So I'm going to give a five out of ten. MVP has to be Eli wines brandlo metal. Win Up young player, between Rosie and drew, I'll give it to Conn I just because he's younger and yeah, probably deserves it anyway. And then most improved. Another tough one between Aimon and Alia, but going to give the edge to Carl aim on. Yeah, very good year from those three guys. I'm actually going to be a bit husher in my rating. I'm going to give them a full as you mentioned, I think parl was probably a grand final performance there well, I think the two hurdles they had to overcome was winning a prelimb and also learning how to beat the big teams in the regular season, which they just didn't show the that they can do it all. So that was really disappointing. One thing that I did like, though, is I was a bit concerned at the start of the season with the likes of, you know, Jonas, boat gray their seasons coming to an end. I thought that was a pretty big core of and Dixon as well. I thought that was a big core of Port Adelaid side that would be taken out, but they there was a lot of players who took a lot of steps forwards, likes of Bergman Frederick. When he played he looked really, really good. Burton also seemed to take a few steps forward. So I'm not too worried about that now. So yeah, for maybe a five. But yeah, I'll give them before, just because they got pumped in the prelimb, MVP only wines just ahead of boky young play. I've given it to drew. He's like we saw him and he's for in his rookie season had a couple blinders and yeah, they just sort of seemed to be a one hundred forty one, either him or rocky in the team there was went with rocklift, but this year pretty happy that they finally decide to give drew week in, week out games and he sort of repaid the faith, I think, and the most improved. I know this is road because he's the MVP, but given it to ones as well. I don't even know if he was a port Adelaide top five best player last year and now he's their best. So yeah, fair played. Only wins row. Yeah, so I think most of us had them finishing where they did and for that reason my rating isn't going to be too dissimilar from you guys. Obviously to get blown away in that final was pretty disappointing for all fans, expect, except the dogs. So I'll get the only difference between that and, I guess, the cat season is the fact that pot, you know, only tripped up in one game right, whereas the cats, you know, tripped up in the back half of the season. So for that reason I will give a six out of ten, so one rating point higher. So yeah, slightly excited my expectations because I think the whole form throughout the whole year suggested they were definitely a grand final chance. They...

...definitely weren't going into that preliminary finals well after smashing the cats in the qualifying but yeah, obviously tripped up in that one game. Mb paid obviously only wins Brown, I win a huge year for him. Best Young Player is obviously a few, which is what's great about port, just to recognize the slightly younger players. Mike, just give it to miles Bergman to play as many games as he did in that port. I'd land lie up is really impressive for him, so good on him. Most improved. Yeah, it's really just a flip of the coin between a Leer and aim on, but might give to a lead given he made the all Australian team, which is obviously huge feet. So yeah, yeah, I hope Sydney are happy with their decision to back in Tom the carn no really earlier, but yeah, excited. Excited the port next year. To be honest, there's like there's a reports of there in for another big free agent, which would be impressive for salary cat reasons. But yeah, the likes of Bergman and stuff and even butters and doersmile like. I think they can still make a few big steps forward next year, which is going to be really exciting to watch. And then finally, Melbourne, the minor premiers and the favorite for the grand final. Huge Year from them. I don't think anyone expected this. Obviously we saw in, I believe, two thousand and eighteen, where they came top four and then since then they've been pretty underwhelming. So it's sort of hard to know what's the Real Melbourne, whether we should have been expecting two thousand and eighteen or two thousand and nineteen and twenty. But you do have to say they've performed well above expectations. I'll just come out with it straightaway. For me it's probably at ten, regardless of the grand final outcome. I was tempted to say nine and then, if they win, at ten, but I think either way. It's a ten that just got such an exciting list and yeah, I can't see why they're not going to be good for a few, like a long time to come. Really MVP, I've given it to Klali AR, just ahead of a trucker. Obviously they've got a really good five or six, like senior players, but I think Paul of a like trump's a lot in the fact that he's only born in like one thousand nine hundred and ninety seven. It's just crazy beshun play. I'll be honest, I did not know who to give it to. I know Luke Jackson won the rising star, but I gave it to James Jordan. He's not even pick for the grand final, but yeah, he looks like he'll be a good player in the future. Most improved of actually given it to Jake Lever. He was obviously a weapon when he came over from Adelaide and I think he's first couple of years at Melbourne were very underwhelming. I think last year he was a lot better, but yeah, I think this year is like right back, if not even better, than what he has ever been his AFL career. And he's tendem with Stephen May is and the third tall defender, whether it be petty or Tomlinson, is quite comfortably the best defense, like tall defense, in the competition. So yeah, I think he's improved a lot. But yeah, and yeah, as I mentioned, rating ten rolly thoughts on the D season. So I was just I m mute. Obviously no one really saw this one coming. But yeah, it's great to see because obviously Melbourne fans of had a tough for a lot, well, sorry, for a long period of time. So you had to come from you know, predictions of outside of the top eight to finish top of the ladder, to hit their form in final series and, you know, make the grand farm on better favorites obviously huge for them. I've predict them to be like the you know how when Richmond during their dynasty every single year, I mean it's only just happening, as it was only for about four or five years, but we'd go in thinking, yeah, Richmond's me favorite, arisoning me in the favorite barbar I think. I don't think Melbourn's going to have that same impact of just that next elite level and no one else can tromply. I think they'll obviously be up there. You know, top four favorites for the flag and all that, but I'd just give him the back that, you know, there's still like slight weaknesses in their team, which obviously silly to say given the last few weeks that they've had,...

...but you know, like their forward line isn't packed full of stars. I know, Fritch, I still don't sent radom as highly as other plate as other people do. I mean you have been brown isn't like the player used to be. But so, for that reason I don't expect them to have these huge like you know, this favorite year in year out, like Richmond did and Hawthorne did obviously back in the day. But still expect them to be really strong for the next four years and it see me really exciting to see. But yeah, for this season I'm going to give the MVP to Clayton Oliver. Obviously huge year and that midfield just took his game to just get another level. I think it was really he was talked to negatively for a few years about like his ball use and all that, and he's just made everyone that said that looks silly. This year. is obviously an absolute weapon. Can just do everything. It's just about the complete midfielder and to have the games like he has against. I think we saw it against Adelaide this year where, you know, collected like thirty five touches, kicked three goals. Just was one of the most dominant performances that midfield has had in the AFL. Ever, there's absolutely huge best young player. Obviously a lot of few candidates to this one. I'll get it to cozy pigger just because I love him. In that forward line isn't be so exciting. I actually didn't realize he's kicked the many goals. He dealing is kid forty this year, which is shit. Yeah, which is huge for him as just like a pressure forward and like his first genuine proper full year of football. Was Unreal for mum and yeah, it's just I think there was a few doubts when I drafted him, you know, but he's obviously absolutely excited those expectations. So that was huge and most improved. I'll share a bit a line on Luke Jackson here as well. Obviously the rising star award and yeah, the fact that the free I asked for him and return for chair just shows how good years so yeah, I think it's it'd be silly not to give them a writing out of ten. So that's why I'm going to be giving them. Yeah, I'll be honest, when they took a Rackman that high in the draft I was like what the fuck, like Gorney, but yeah, they've obviously proved me wrong. That's from to be very good draft pick. Yeah, I agree with your call about dynasty. Like I think for the next few years every time someone wins a premiership we're going to be very quick to jump and say like this is the next, you know, big team. But I think we've got to accept that Richmond and Hawthorne and having them in such a close vicinity, I think is pretty freakish in and anomally. So I'll be such shocked if another team for the next decade wins like another three in a row or three out in for because that's pretty rare. pilched around the soft mate. Thoughts on the D season? Yeah, they literally just did a Richmond two thousand and seventy just absurd season, like I don't know how they've done it. As a fan, you literally cannot ask for anymore. In my opinion, it's just like it's prime example of quality of list is not everything. Think they've just had a insane preseason. Everyone's just come in played their role to the best of their abilities and you wouldn't want to be a fan of any other club. So congrats and yeah, very interested to see what happens in next season. But in terms of awards, well, firstly rating certainly a ten out of ten awards per trarka MVP, controversial, but think he's the arguably the number one player in the comp for impact, young player, pick it, and most improved Jackson. That's company. Pick it. Kick forty girls. That's that's cooked. and hasn't fritch kicked like like fifty or something like? They just, yeah, seemed to rack up the girls when you don't really realize the right time. For Our grand final preview, obviously got to put a bit more attention on this in the average game, but it really excited for this one. To be honest, I haven't actually watched that much of Melbourne this year. Watched quite a bit of the dogs, but yeah, really excited to see like I don't know if it's going to be close on. I was looking through the history of the Grand Finals in the twenty one century in that has not...

...been many close ones. The line, seven and a half Melbourne. Other favorites. There's only been, for since one thousand nine hundred and ninety four grand finals that have been decided by seven and a half points or less. So probably, as Rowy has mentioned in the past, whoever you go head to head like, if you're back in the Melbourne head to head, back to the line as well, because that's pretty small margin. Just before we get into our predictions, just a couple discussion points. Rowyd Reckon, Oh, I would go to pilch. Actually, do you think that harms will go to liver after what happened in the Prelim, even though you guys tagged liver? Aud You reckon? They will change it up and let him run free? I'd after to check what happened when the bulldogs beat them toward the end of the regular season. Why? I'm going to say he's doesn't liver in that one. So yeah, it's going to be like actually have no idea what they're going to do because normally I would say definitely tag a liver but, as you mentioned, they beat them last time while tagging the ban and they've just beaten a team by like about a hundred points with liver being tag so maybe maybe they don't go with it. I don't know. Well, harms is the perfect play to do it, but yeah, it's a big one. And then Rowe. I think another big question mark for me about this is probably the one week this I'LD say Melbourne, while next their forward line, but in this matchup especially Mitch Hannon and Cody Waitman, two very dangerous players. Hadn't kicked to last time that these played and he was like pretty high and super coach, I assume. Me had a good game and then against forty kicked three and had two behind. So could easily kick four or five. Who Do you think of the match that's for this? I think last time, why? Actually, I don't know if cody are now pretty sure last time hibbard went to waitman. But yeah, what do you reckon they do about Hannon and waitman? Yeah, I'm off. I've never really heard and described hat. It is dangerous, but it's good to shed someone and like that. Yeah, I think they've brought in Hibbid for this reason, but obviously got the three tools of petty main leave we go into shaky English and Norton. I think rivers has been playing a lockdown role a lot this year. So I think it'll be accommodation of rivers and Hibbard will be taking care of those two and then they'll let's Salem obviously use his boot at the ground of I think he'll play a sort of half roll on whoever else plays in that forward line. And Yeah, I think harms might even play a role in that back line there as well. But yeah, I think it's me mainly between Hibbard and rivers. I think those are there two primary lockdown defenders for the guys obviously aren't toll forwards, so he's just gonna be both of those two. Can we stick on those other two for the most of the match? Yeah, definitely interest see how that plays out. Think weightman's are really like hard play the match up on, so reckon, he might kick a few, but yeah, definitely interested to see that one. I think that would if the doggies do get up. I think those two have a big saying it. or at score predictions boys Pilch Shui going with and by how much? Melbourne? Eighty nine hundred and fifty six thirty three point large and I think, fairly close game up until the last with like the bulldogs, like hanging on type thing, and then Melbourne just run them out in the last quarter. Yeah, that's like so close to mine. I'm kidding. So I've got I've got Melbourne Ninety one, two, hundred and sixty four, paying a dollars, sixty four headtohead. But Yeah, look at the moment, if we're breaking my favorite like who I think it's going to win into a into a percentage. I don't want to Jinson, but I probably have to be about eighty to twenty at this point. Back in the Melbourne heavily and yeah, I'd probably have to go the same as pilch. I think Melbourne will be tight and then they'll just maybe Melbourne up by two goals heading into three quarter time. Can picture the commentators...

...saying, like the comebacks coming, and then Melbourne just shut it out. So, Raley, I know you've got similar margin with watches score on. Yeah, I'm very similar, but I've got the same score as pillched for Melba. For the dogs, I've gone getting fifty S. yeah, I've got Melbourne winning ninety four to fifty six and I've got the same mindset is you boys. I've got it relatively close throughout a like, especially the first half of the game, you know, maybe like a three to four gold margin, with the dogs can still hang on, but d's definitely have the upper hand. And then it gets to, you know, the last quarter. I think, you know, the D's kick like six goals to one or something. So I think that's how well has this scenario I've got playing out in my head. But I can see every scenario. I can see it been close. I can they even see the dogs, you know, running away with it and thinking are you know, it was too good to be true for the day's, but now I think this one might just be the most likely one of the day's running home with it in the end and making the game appear on as close as it actually was. But yeah, I've got it. What's Mrs on needs thirty eight points, which is actually pretty sizable. But yeah, I think most of the damage is going to be done in the ladder half of the game because, as we seen these big, big games, if a ten gets rolling in the last quarter, it's hard to stop because a the other team is just given up. You know, they're depleted. They play a whole season and they know they're going to lose the grand final and there's not much motivation to come back once you know you've lost and you know the d's will just be running with it and usually those moments it's harder to not kick goals and kick them. So yeah, I've got that scenario playing out for me. Yeah, so pretty much all the same thing there norm Smith Boys. I'll be honest, I'm actually surprised how large the odds are for this. I know there's what forty four candidates for it, or forty six if the medical sub gets on and plays a blinder. But yeah, I think Clayton, know all that, is the favorite at six hundred fifty. I'll be honest, I'm going to be boring him back them in. I can see it like he just narrowly will. He was predicted as one of the Brown their favorites, and he's missed out on that one. So I can picture Melbourne Win. The experts reward all of the for a great season and what will be a pretty good performance. With a normal Smith, my back up would probably have to be corney, mainly hesitancy with Gorny is a that's obviously huge mismatch on paper. So surely the dogs are preparing heavily for that one. And also a Ruckman like I don't know who won in the past, but I was looking at the last twenty winners and a Rackman hasn't won it. So that puts me off corney a little bit. This will actually be the first Melbourne Norm Smith metalist. Fun Fact. So the evil one, one pill chew. You going with for the norm Christian Petrarca? Yeah, fair, I think. I think the truck is like seven bucks gone. He's like fifty in bombs, like eight. It's all very close in there with those four. Rowy, who are you going with here? Yeah, I've also got petrarca in a Melbourne Win and trucker bang a goal kicking me. You know, if you have twenty five and kick to I think it's going to stick in the minds of the jumps, not sorry, lumps. This this one the the Norm Smith decided, whoever they are, then were stick in the minds of them pretty heavily. So yeah, I'm going to have a truck. I don't mind if there's a few rogue ones, you know, like Jake Leever at twenty six. Actually don't mind that giving it could. I could definitely see him like breaking the records for most in this set marks and stuff like that. You know, is Norton if he'd if the dogs up and key he kicks a bag. I actually don't see because I've contrated myself there. I said the HELBOM defense is impenetrable. But yeah, there's a few ones in there which you know, you don't my don't mind, but right. Yeah, well, I think it'll be the trucker. Yeah, I'd love to see like Christian Salem get up here. Like I don't think they would give it to that kind of player personally, but you never know. Yeah, also would love to see may or leave it get it, because they've had unbelievable seasons and not really the kind of blokes who are going to pick up many awards in their life. First goal scorer. Obviously pretty random prediction here,...

...but it's one of the favorites on Game Day of the granny. I know my family sometimes, doesn't we? All the rest of us, well, I don't know much either. We know nothing about footy. I'm backing in the buoy cody here. He's paying thirteen bucks, which is not the greatest odds, I'll be honest, but just can see him is come back into the team. He's going to be full of fire. Seems like someone who's not going to like shy away from the cage occasion. And I can see them, you know, maybe a few shocks go through the stadium. Is Dogg. He's hit the first goal and cody's just going off off. He's nut. So yeah, I can see that happening. Pillage first goal scorer. Mate, I'M gonna go with Christian pertrucker. Those back in the for the clean sligh. That must be paid quite a bit, to be fair. Yeah, I think I'll be paying a lot. And I can I can just envision it. Like thirty seconds into the game. It gets forward at a stoppage, bangs one in and it's just like absolute scenes. Can already see it happening. So yeah, may if the drug kicks on a thirty seconds it would be hard for Melbourne fans to bloody come selves down because right the riding would be on the wall that that would be a great way to start it. Rolly, who you got here? Yeah, I always have a lot of these invisions before the game. One I've got can see it playing out for about five minutes of a bit of scrappy footy. But I can see in the dry because we be a dry game, which is good, so hopefully a decent scoring affair, which is what we all love. So I've got been brown conking one and having a set shot from about thirty meters out and obviously the most exciting player to kick one, but because of that reason it's almost more exciting and everyone gets around him. He gives a massive his pump. Come on, not the type of play you'd expect to do that, and hence everyone gets around him from the Melbourne lineup. So I can I can see Benny Brown, yeah, taking a big mark and then you're going to be thinking I melbourn going to run over the top of them or sorry, I think I'm going to take it away from them, like similar to what we've seen in past years. You know, I kind of West coasting is an example of that, where pis keep like the first five. You know, I think we're going to be maybe thinking, is this going to happen, because they're going to be they're going to look on fire the days. But yeah, I've got been Brown. Yeah, I'm actually scarred from first. I was just thinking about them first goal score, about some grand final that. I think it was Sydney dogs, and it was either, I can't remember that, somebody that kicked it behind. That I have money on, like the first behind or the he had like a set shot and like buddy ran around even ask for the ball, something like that. There was some bullshit thing and I thought I was home budd he cooked it. I can remember who was either. Might have to do some research after this. But and finally, most touches. Pretty Weird one. Not sure why I included it, but I know some people will have their same game. Multis gone. I'm going rogue. He had the most touches for Melbourne in the prelimb and I can just see the dogs putting a lot of work into trying to match up on Colom and the trucker and the stoppages. WHO's that leave free? Mr Jack Viney? Paying twenty one bucks, I reckon you'll have I don't think anyone will have huge touches back and in for like thirty three. Then he had thirty two on the PRELIMB, so we'll round up to thirty three. PILCH. Most touches Christian per tracker once again. I just think he I can just see him having an absolute blinder mate like the sounds dominant from Christian Padraca, the Norm Smith. First all score thirty, like thirty five and two. That's that's cruising to its. That's that's one of the old time greatest grand final performances. But I can't say it. I can say it for sure, rolly most touches. I was tempted to say someone like Christian Salem here because I can have a I can envision him and our new favorite word on here, you know, racking up like thirty five plus off the halfback line and just, you know, going under the radar. And I think in a similar game,...

I think bash a Huli played, and Ye should want the norm Smith. I can see him playing that sort of a game. But when safe with Jack mccrae, who's hadn't gotten there both times to see you or equaled it. So I think we're all loose. Only mccraie is going to rack up thirty plus, so it's just safe to go with him. Yeah, I think you had like thirty six in the Prelim or something. So yeah, pretty much alock for thirty plus. Yeah, I'm feeling Christian Salem. No one Smith, I've got to feel. But anyways, not sure why. I'm not sure what that is about. But that'll do us for the final episode of in Season Action. Obviously, as I mentioned, will be either doing some review episodes or some trade period free adency stuff, as we do have a professional list manager on our on our wes, just talent. So yeah, that's been it for another episode. Huge episode today, I can think. I'll back to it. We haven't done our ratings for a while. Give us a give us an eight, point seven out of ten. Think we're pretty good today. Good feeling, sons out. It's Nice Day. I'll be yeah, huge, I won't I forget it's a public holiday. But Massive Day of Sport Tomorrow Man City Chelsea as well. So I'll be changing over at three quarter time, if that's the left. But Yeah, looking forward to that. And Yeah, go. Actually I went say go the team. Just good luck to both teams. Go Cody, hopefully as a blind to kicks three and yet thanks boys,.
