ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Hamish's Dad, Fraser, joins the host for a chat about his relationship with sport, his passions in life and provides some interesting stories about sport from times gone by.

...o CES welcome back to the honoable podcast. This is episode. Nineteen of the show so we're starting to get up there. NextOne's episode, twenty, which is another little milestone for me, but today I'm doing another interview withone of my family members, the final one we haven't ticked off, yet probablysaving the best tol last whele. He would think anyway. My Dad Fraser he'sbeen on the podcast a few times, but today we're going to get to know alittle bit more about you. How are you today good? Thank you. We're recordingthis on a satday and or beloved West Tigers, ard playing in just under fourhours, so some of the mental thought processes might be alittle bit off we're a little bit on edge, some four yeaht three and a half. So some of youranswers, maybe ont Yrou, some point all right. So, let's notstuff around so the where we're going to structure this we're going to havethe same questions that we've asked everyone and then at the back end. So after we've doneall the usual questions, Il also just doubl little bit deeper into yourpassion for Oggby League. So first, what was your? What like? What Rol did sport play inyour childhood? Did you play many sports or play it well, pletty huge par my dad used to watch. It was veryactive. I think it was active younger before we came to Australia, but sportwas a big part of his life on whe. He watched a huge amount of sport. Golf an soccer was in his two bigpassions, and so I grew up in a house where, and he also loved cricket, so it was Lu. Wy was that Wat's. I neverunderstood because it's Rad for Scottish Guy, but he knew all aboutBradon Bradman and we dona been in astray, for I regon it two weeks and wewent out to the SG to watch cricket a so. He used to take me out to thecricket regularly. We would go and watch great cricket sitand sit, sit on the hill, a great cricket and watch it. So he was heloved watching sport. He probably didn't get time to play itbecause he's pretty busy with work. So I grew up with that. So I developed passion for watchingSport, all sorts of Sport and I played sport, but it wasn't because I was small and in those daysit's not like now, wherever I get to go when you're small and when I grew up oryou didn't get a go like you, wouldn't you'd, be on Youd, never get the ballor you'd played cricket. You came in last and all that sort of stuff. So Iturned more into sort of solitary sports away from teams, so you so what sports did you play?Well, I've played football ruggby leg at school is wellaition half back Ho and then Iplayed cricket for a couple of seasons. But then I did weird things like I didtempin bowling. I got into that competition to him compoling to be fair. What I'm assuming was a bit more popular Ani Wantta. Now my parents andI used to go and then then, through my mates, it got into rowing and becauseit's small ease to bi cock- and I did that for quite a like three or fouryears- was that the school or club club now ron club. We still go down onsatday morning, INM noand, then I think we did it because you got free chipsand free drink and then we, then I got into Skateboarding andsurfing and all that stuff, so it becomg bad dog. Well, escapeoat a lotslike on the weekends at all, skateboard go off to the in those days theshopping centers were empty, so you could go into the big Multitea, capucksand skateboard up and down the ramps, and it was good for Doyou. So you cameto Australia. When you were six yea six from Scotland do. Do you have anysporting memories from SCO? Yeah I do have. Did you pay sad toore? No, Ididn't. I was a Nismadic, so I think I didn't.I remember gallered pool and things to swim because my parents used to drag meECAUS. I think they got told by a doctor that I had to swim becauseMassman, so I remember getting dragged pools indoor pools in Scotland, but Ido remember again: Ceseltic Caus Dad was a mad celtic supporter, and thatwas probably one of the last things we wanted donein Scotland. I'm not sure what Yeuro went, but we went sort and remember it waswhere they play now, but obviously a different stadium, and it wasn't longafter that they just won the European Cup. So I do remember that,...

...but that would be the only memoriessporting members ar got from Scotland. Yeah wait. So you said your dad used towatch soccer did. Could you watch like Celtic play here? No, you couldn't. Allyou got was one day a week. You got a thing called big match, which was on aMonday night it'just like Cremileagu match yeah. It was a premie league, Mei,wate, first division, those days match of the day. Maybe it had o were the best teams.Back then, like is that before forest or yeah, that wasbefore Fiv, it was arsenal and Chelsea wasn't as good, but it was astal andteams like Westhown and leagues. I remember all those teams yeah butArsenal- was pretty big Liverpool worst sort of float. Theywere good, I don't think them. I don't remember. The Manchester teams isdefinitely manchis. City was't, big but united, must have been big because we,that was a team. I have started folloing and the reason we did it hadsomething like seven or eight Scottish players and that's what dad did it andthen mums? My Dad Mynana used to send ad newspapers out from Scotland andhe'd get those they'd come regularly, so that was the only way he used tostay in touch with Engl Scottish football. So it waspretty tough. You know it's not ligkt. Now, where you guys can watch whateveryou want. yeahwhere. We Watch the Tigers as we travel across the Scottishborder holed when we watch date of origin.Doing a Lord to Ur aver. You ever told you that when we were doing our Lord to on ourschool UK Trooyo List Weir we because we had the origin game on him as well, find the too gard. We were just out the back wate. So a of all those and Momwa saying youguys played a lot of sports together when you were like in your wis, likeyou played volleyball touch yeah, we used to play ICANT Reso, sh Bagin, youout actually sest, saying you're a bit so that episode comn today, but she wassaying you're a bit violent with some of your touches used to follow throughit was it was I'm compat, I'm holhly competitive, golf lorn walls, so we yeah. We did alot. Actually we did God lessons. We did like Boart, sir. We don't have kids, and so we used to go to these towns and we didn't, you know, lived in towns,Wewe didn't know anyone, so we did. Mum Did lawn balls. I didn't do that, but mom got rightinto it and then we used to do volleyball, I'm on a Monday night andthen we did. Then we went to orange and I did golf. We did golf lessence ThrouhTafhe for about three months Isran and then she was in temption Mamwas in tempingbawling competition. I didn't do that because I used to go away, so Icouldn't do that one. I trying o think what else we ya. Wedid touch football in Calgoly, you guys Wer, you sit and watch you can't Ha. Ido used to in your numbers on your Redyon, that's IIN and yeah. The otherteams used to get a bit upset with me, but thet Asjsi could actually be one ofmy ealest verics thin about that. I used to charge up now ias playing RugbyLeague, so you knew to move up defense really fast, and people thought thatWer Striatyn, but you're just playing the game like it's meant to be played. So it was a bit weird but yeah. I was also saying a mom. Why is out of allthe places ID youve lived? Why did you play touch Western Australian town? That's bizarretouches play everywhere. It's a yeah but o make more sense for you, guys eplaying in towns or something I don't. I think we met someone welike. I was sa met, someone that said o you guys because you're from eastern Australia, you want to play touch and it was a new Chris team. Oh really yeah, because wewere saying like it's not like at least I rea play Quiv Siday fl really, werethey any good or Yeathey'r all right? Well, so out of all the sports, you'veplayed what what do you have? The fondest memories of playing you caninclude snowboardingskateboarding yeah? I think so. I think its skateboarding snowboardings, thetwo things I didn't say snywbodyn before theyare, the two things I reallyenjoy the most and still do I love both those eai think. That's it. I mean cricketLok iws, Neve Good. It was never likey guys, so it was always a bit of a youknow. You wanted to be good, but you know there's also other kidsthat are better and so its bet, like you know it's a bit like when you guysplay sport, ing, thes, kids, making up the numbers. It's a bit. The same soprobably didn't Enjo enjoy the team sports as much, but I certainly enjoy snowboarding and skateboarding yeah. So right now, what are your top three favorite sportsto watch to watch what Lik to follow yeah? Well, it's a question. It's time I mean. There's lots of things I like to watch mean obviously my passion, Rugmy League. So I make sure I watch that every week yeah you easily watch more ruguleaguethan anyons yeah and then then it's...

...time because it generally becauseyou're watching ruggbeleague on the weekends- and you got work I do enjoy. I do- do enjoy English soccer, but justtry finding the time yeah, I think in another life or if we who knows what you guys will do in thefuture. But if you move somewhere where the time sones are a bit more friendly,I definitely see and then the other obviously number two test cricket. I Idon't enjoy the big bash and, like you know, we, I don't watch a lot of bigbash yeah. It's just a background. I don't like one day criens because Ijust find it boring, but I really enjoy test match cricket and the other one Ilike, but we don't watch a lot of is golf. I recon golden to his elite sport, but it's just again. It's just another yeah like the masters like ae all O wetimes yeah and like someone who work Lov. I lovethe Wintr Olympics, really don' really look forward to the WINTRLINEX gamesyeah, because I ye Awat that Wot we watch that time. The Snow Ski CS, R, oing backwars in the Guy Een Tellanded on top of him every run was someone was anambulance, so yeah nothethe main things I watch and I look like I'm not INTFL, I'm notinto rugby, I'm not into Australian SOCCO, so very selective. What a watchyeah! If you could play any sportprofessionally money aside so say, you're getting the same pay for everysport. What would you play if you were good at it? Yet? Golf interesting, was it any reason, or Ijust think that well be I like being outdoors and like walking and like, andI just think if you could be really good at golf and really in like ifyou're really good at it, then you'd enjoy it, because I think that's thething that frustrates most people t golf its such a hard gain yeah thatpeople don't really enjoy it because you're never very good at it, so that when I was young, I wanted to be aprofessional. You know it wasn't going to be, but it was always. The ideawould be to be a professional surfer or snowboarder. Be Those sports yeah. I think Don'Think Rugby Ligal his too hot yeah too violent. I think it's good to watch itWut the money aside. I definitely RECON like surfing it. Snowboarding would beup there or you just imagine the lost. I ts lifestyle. You live yeah, you knowlike if you surfed all year and you you know yourself like these guys that doski scree instructors mean they spend theEAS game yeah an it's like, there's, not really anywhere. It's like not anice place that has like, if you were a surfer, I don'tthink that'd really be training anywhere. That's not nice! A they gotthe great countries yeah exactly. This is a tough one to think of on thespot, but we've been talking about it a lot last few weeks. What is yourfavorite sporting moment of all time? You can either go when you've seen liveor if you just want to broaden it at any moment, look well! It's alwas! It's always a a mediacy thing, because your memory, you know, as you get older, there'the', so much sport, you've seen and so manyepic events I feel like I'd, have to make it live. To give you a chance. Iknow but I'me just saying even then, as you go through ye you've seen so much Americas com well, yeah, that was veryexi A, but it was exciting. Probably three, the treece three or two its obviously, the one that stands outmost to me is two thousand and five semifinal between the Tigers anddragons that', my ultimate sporting event, because there's a was a magical moment withfive minutes to go where you knew they weren't going to lose and you knewtheywere in the grand final and the crowd, which was probably seventypercent tigers, just when absolutely nuts- and it was like after years andyears of falloing, this team they'd made the gramd final before, but I wasalways away. Soi never seen do it, so that was ia that it had been a fair gap.Yeah and I ve found that what was my number one ten yearsbetween so I mean the fact I found the I found them winning the week after abit of. Actually, I don't know what happened there, but I just foundanticlimatic, it wasn't. Thit wasn't e pinnacle that I thought it would bethat I got more out of the week before. Is it because you thought is becauseyou knew they were going to win yeah? I think you knew they were going to betthe cowboys and by halftime. You thought this game's over so and you guys are young a maybe now housyou're older, a bit more exciting but yeah. It was that then I think athat's. Why I'm Sarin Gonta be careful, because this is all I mean I've seen so many good cricket games, but the onethat stands out the on with the ashes the other year with at the Gaba youguys are right were Australia, one on the last day,Ith Mitchel, Johnson, Gard Nuts O. I was forget about that. I love those a Y,his family, Hey, I tho. When we sat...

...yeahs family yeah. I thought it was agreat day as it was just so excited comn. He S, yeah, brother and kempesantbrother told him off. I thought it was really that was agreat day and I was really exciting to be there. I think I enjoyed it becauseyou guys were there and thin them. Then the one really isrecently with Liverpool. I just thought that was just such a as far as it notthe actual game itself. Yet is spectacle off it all that the buildupof going you know the prematch seeing the lunch, then the bus there and thenwalking with the crowds. It was just something special. You know.Actually all those Manche City wasn't exciting, but arsenal was as well andit was just great to do that. So there theyre, probably three that stand outyeah, but I said Youre Gon a be that's nearolgy I mean I have to sit down and you knowehit's hard to Ur, like I feel like I just crap on aboutthis all the time, it's hard to balance between recency bias. But then you canalso go the other way and just favor things that have happened in the past.So it's hard to kind of get a balance there and Imembe he's big, like withthe Tags Tis big brothers Bu, like they had a good y good decade in th s, andthen there's a big gap toll two thousand and five. So there's not a lotof games that tigers, juse go I mean, there's games a Wen and its buter. Weget excited because they just wint a game. Yeah Thet A notit wo back on theBali Wa es they Wen a gate yeah. It was like in my in the first episode of thispodcast men. PILCH did a actual top five sporting moments and I at theTigers, been in the storm and a regular season, O tat and looking back, Iwatched the highlight- and I was like this- is just a last five minute: Trylike this actually Isin that special, but we've been food ond tough times.Who is your favorite sports person of all time? You coul give you one alltime, and maybe one currently playing. This is a tough one M. unsurprisingly spent I look, I've gotold minutes. I can't pick one I mean I've got so many that hime with some names. Well, one thatstands out to me is Greg Norman, because I think I grew up in the EroWen Greg Norman actually dominated a straight sport like you guys, neverunstear, jhoke yeah you, and that was part of the that was a part of thestory and Lhenou particularly co Tiger support its like yeah get this, but I think that he's his impact onAustralian sport was Massyv Fin. He was the number one golf from the world fora long time, so I wasn't like het was just a flash in the pet was't like late.He when he was, you know world number one for like it was what was a year orsomething, but he was number one like four yeas. For Year D, he reallydominated golf, the other one that I was Micke,Richards and surfing. He won, I think, was four or five world champions in arow and he you know he was like. I remember I used to go and watch himserf, and he had that auro about him when he walked through the car, parketand Hese, with Hes Mark Ritches, Bor deat. The begna he's got the Supermanlogo, the users yeah, and you just knew that that was pretty special. I, like I mean regular Leagu. There'slots of players that I really enjoy. Probably for me, Jez is hard. I mean there's so manygood tigers, players, probably Benny a lice- would be up there for me becauseI just think they're really exciting foorpallers, whereas you know the gen like BenjieMarsh was pretty exciting. I like watching him, but he lets you down toomuch. You know likehe's good, but he does a lot of stupid things, whereasBenny Lics and those guys were actually good footballs and then to be fair. They were surrounded with each other when Bengi's kind of been yeah on hisown yeah. Most of his time, so I mean theyre doesn't help and then cricketcricket DK. No, you noras Fello love. You Morlike yv Thompson. Yeah, probably he'd be up there as well, because e again the Hem was just magical. That guy, like ISO, it'sofortunate to see these guys at their peak and the thing about Thomson is. Isaw him actually before he made it beak. We Dad and I went to the shield- youknow hut. He shells like there's no one, there yeah and he's playing for newselfwiles Isas, his last season for new self wels and t was year before Yeu gotpicked for Australia and he just I think, was Queenslane they played andhe just almost every time he bowl Yeu got you know not just stumps would justgo flying everywhere, yeah, and then I saw him do that against the West indies, two years later, where he just destroyed the West indis. They didn'tnow how to play with Yiu- and I said every ball- this we ned got wicket itwas. It wasn't like catching on. The boundary was like stumps flyingeverywhere. So as a kid that was really exciting. Now, like cricket, no one really stands here. I didn'tlike the modern generation you're, not really a man of lace, the earlytwoousands late, Ni sqot. Are you? No, you don't really like Mgra Warne. Ididn't really warm to any of those guys hat. Her was a site. I like Mik Taylor, but yeah. There was something tyoucouldn't war to so that it's...

...interesting like I watchd so muchcricket, but there's no one that I really look to and go well yeah thatwhere's those other guys I'mtrying to think there's. Anyone elseprobably is all right. So that's that's! TheGeneral Sport ones well touch on your ruguleague passion. Later I was going to just keep thesequestions to mom and Campbell, but I'm actually, I feel like there'sinteresting questions to get more of an insight on people. So what your anotherreally tough, one to think oon the spot, but what 's your favorite move here alltime, if there's like one, you hade to justwatch over and over again Wat Cambell Sal sa be Wednesdaywhichyea gase I've got ugomy favorite movie a full time. You can throw a fewnames at me. If you well back to the future yeah ack to the future, I reallyenjoy. I enjoy first Billis Day off and I like there was blike Wall Streetthere's movies at Thir's, random movies hat. I do really enjoy it. I StillWatch Way Wall Street Yeah Thas. I, the Warf F Wabin thebacomfus, maybe in theID Switcho Bern, and it was all about you know. Greed is good. Much was whatthe Ades is about just had n alone, but it's got out ofmy mind, but that you know they're the ones life thchevy chase yeah likechristopas vacation. I love those. I mean yeah, there's lots of movies youlike to watch yeah and they're the ones that you knowstand out. I I like Mabol, I, like I like watching sport movies that what'sKevin Costom on draft field of dreams. It's awesome yeah. You know ther, Ilike those sort of movies, but no I'm not a I'm, not a person. That goes. You know, like my taste, change all the time. Yeah, it's fair to say. I think you andme at least into movies out of the family. Well, I watch a lot of thosesbecause of planes because all the plane trips ar do watch so you just getdragged through like our choice. I am Ni. Ninety percent movies, we goand, see rubbish an you're, not interested, whereas a Gu just go because you guyswant to go so go along but and then but then I do watch a lot ofmovies on the planes yeah. I know all the movie or you often come back likethe founder. That was in my top ten of the decade. That was because that's atiny movie only box, I could you not pay on you, guy see them and butthey're available, whereas yeah I'm not in the marvle and all that stuff, because I just think yeah I, like a storyline, not just special effects andplus it's kind of high involvement fora like you have to watch every movie, littal Sanes, a bitof eseeves mean the thing ikate about the Menof, thedestroy cities yeah. We don't Ge to talk about that and then what happens? How do those cities get magic? Talk about that on the Marvle podcast, butyeah now you're, not the biggest musical fan,it's fair to say I that's not true. I used to be heavily into the music, nomusiccoals, I not musicals. No, it's fair to say: If your son wasn'tinvolved anythink, you know wouldn SA. No, if Campbell wasn't around and momwasn't round, I wouldn't see any music al because not you have been dackedquite a few. So what's your favorite that you've seen the least painful, maybe or fers probably machilda, Ma Matilda was alittle. A lot of action scenes were short. It was s sor that was pretty good camel was in it, which always helps yeah. I mean Chidi Chi Bangbang becausehe was in it was his first one and onthy went for three. We MayeEMAMMA, MEA, but the rest of them. You know any of the UK one or no H.Well, the first one, woe w Juliet and what was Angelli Lihts. You Know JetLegs Yeah, O te Statru that one the cooking one was dreadful and waitresssix S, six yeah Eah six was all right, but I was like save bout it. It wasshort. You know I wouldn't as fast paced yeah but whay it was. I mean Ithink the problem is mom hypes them all up, so we yeah to see them I's. Like Ilove mom, but I've never well, she never sae Shi. No is mysical thatpissed me off. Like I came in to Matilda thinking it wasyea, that's e!! well, you emember and I lik actually left it thinking thatwasn't yeah. That's that's what happened to us all the first night. Wesaw that first of all I thought Campbell was. I was a bit surprised toCampbells Rhole and then the other thing was yea shouldpainted. This FIS show was so great that the first time I watched it went, but once you got into the character Meing, you know I don't am Imse I meanI would hav. So you tilhe said she wasted Forty Times Sherkins yeah, Ireckon I oul sor nuts she's Olbaly been close to ten. I don'tthink I'veve ever Wotgh a movie little on a musical more than ten time. Ithink I salin about ten times if I added on Myi eny watch them four timesMatilda. Now, because we went with PO Y...

...thet used to go yeah. It was like workfriends a couple times and stuff yeah and I yeah that would be mine, but yetit's a short short list, because it's not a favorite, genere and plus it'snot like movies, like you, don't see fifteen a year so, like I think, I'vein seen ten or something in my life m. If you have to another, these are sometough ones. Tu just sing a new spot, but on the spot. But if you have tolisten to one song for the rest of your life, what are you going with once like? It doesn't have to bepermanently on repeat, obviously, but whenever you want to listen to Junes, this is, unfortunately, that only song. What's one song, you just love. I know I don't even reckon you knowthis song, but Irakan. You Love the art of Flight Song Yeah. I did like that sosweet disposition, but the IDID like that. I did like that, but it'sprobably not attall BIS, probably an excess level tears apart. So what's called I, I o, Never Tearus, eveer Paris, Pat Yeah. I like that full on the hill by the peetles. Well, what if you had to listen to oneartists, collection? Well, yyou're, going to lean towards Beatles, becauseI got so much music, yeah Nho, Queen Yeah quids, all right, but they're, notas I enjoy queen, but nowthe well, they'l be up there. I like there's lots of music I like, but I'mnot into big collections of music. I mean to lops o Asis me yeah, I'm notInjon, I'm not into I've, got to have a thousand albums of the one group moreinto I like songiming yeah, I'm like that, my playlist Jist Chop and ChangeAl Yeah. That's try the change changes all time, but I'm not A. I don't listen like, for instance I,when I drive, I don't listen to music. I, like we radio, because I likehearing news, Yeah and people's views on news and then when I run, I don't listen to music, a listen topodcast because I think listen to music. Actually, when I was running today, theradio was on and they kept flipping. This songs and I found that I didn'tenjoy running to the music because I like to escape whet I'm doing it yeah I on I'm,not a fan of this in music. When I exercise people like listen to likebangirs and stuff, but I'm not about that because yeah, I don't know becausehalf the time you've heard the song before so you just get bored likelisten to it. This is a rigd question. I'll ask you, though, if you went onthe voice, what would be your audition song? WHY HAVE TO BE N? Remember what mom I think my mothersaid Dancing Queen Yeah. She was saying I know everyone in the family thinkit's anal vice, but I do girl from Ebeneba Epin Eve. I don't even knowthat song is my wife Franks, an ATR, because you pick up Franks and atresssong because he actually talks Alit Ycans just put the Voie and you can Odo those. So you go for the criner songs, you'd stay away from anythingdifficult to GE straight hit the ball straight down the middle of the fairwayyeah saying Tomo. Maybe she should wrap limit the Vos co N, the dancing as well, so not move O, not sing yeah. Maybe I go n Australia's gottalent, but I wouldn't go ta voice because I think it's an appalling showyeah actually I'll be honest. They were watching it. The other night and I waslike hat- was this thing still still gon't? It's a limited t thing. I don'tunderstand is trys to go small population and if you do it every year, there's eventually, where you skim, it's like skimming leaves of to Pul.Eventually, all the good ones are gone but and also left is the rubbish. Don'think Theyre singings bad just the same thing every year. Well, the yeah! Youcan sing good on your yeah, but they just Mimi so Ihon know Marterchef, eventhough it's the same thing, because technically it yo, like l, individualexacty, OOK wheres. What these people are doing is just mimic songs, so theytry to get to sound as close as they can to the artist. Whereas if there wasserious about it, you should come on and seeing your own music, that's true yeah. I don't know, then, just talkingabout Marta look at all that successful. Look at bands they're successful, because no it's not because they can sin it's because they got a uniquesound ar they write, really good songs. Whereas if you think about your roadfrom the voice, all you're doing is being a karaoke singer. How's thatgoing to work yeah, I neey to wake up to themsel there you go sorry Christopher, F, fe, listening bigfan of the voice. Now, just some general ones. I wouldlike you. It would been lucky enough gone quite a few nice holidays, Iwo'LDlike you to rank your top three, that's easy! The Englinh England,Scotland trip number one number two would be Vancouver and San Francisco Aaand then number three would be one of the Japanese troops number one on Numto ill Saynamomye. Idon't even know...

...well number two. We lived in a little.U, we lived in Thet Unit near the restaurant down the bottom of othisyear and we didn't. We stay in Shaboiel, yeah, that'well, the first INAGAA YeahN, then the the other one. We stayed in the hotel, so that was NTO on Shitagal, which wasn't which it was all right, but it was in, like the business, JoSoi, say Japan number two yeah Coud Booki to yeah. That's good shit! If you, if you were stuck on a desertedisland with one of us in this household who, who noi hoping it is you can't ask me thatquestion? No everyone else has answered it come on me. I can run you through the Anser, but Ilike actually no can't because I, like N, I don't care you pickin. My Mateveryone picked has answered so far. I pickd mom. Obviously yeah she pickedyou a so that's ut. I mean for you three. I know y no MOM's included so yeah youPi Tik Mammaiti mean you three. I am no I'maskin. You've Al got your strengthand weaknesses. Yeah Lock Pi me because this is such a deep answer from lockone, because we can make a footy and pass it, which is the priority in life, reallybecause I think ou be picture you because you know the rocks of theisland is very good point Gi because I think you're all we're allthe same were all pretty head strong people. So if I picked one of you guyseventually drove each other nugts, whereas but yeah no Ma'm, because youknow we've been together forever, Yeah Yeah, she said you, so you haven't beendogged there. If we all went on survivor, separate seasons, nothing to do witheach other independent who's, making it the furthest you you can includeyourself now you really I'm car that I thought Itod be Rabber Shao. Now Ithink everyoundas said I'd be shytted. It so far, lock on my go pretty well, but locklans Locklamad lose it in the challenges with people e go nuts and I think both you and locker go reallyfar. Mom Mom couldn't do the challenges and I think, for mom, just living inthe whole surviivor environment would just wouldn't work for ar and then Campbell. Not, I don't think you know same of thechallenges I think Cam and struggle. The challenges for as youtoe would bereally good and the challenge, but your pusyou can kind of get carried at thestart, but you trib they the only Har. To imagine the only problem you is you,I mean the Vanager Lock Ov, you lock. Actually, when he's in Hes we've seenthis when he's in Hes, mellow, moods, hes, actually or other people he's veryeasy to get on with yeah talk o you trigger you get triggered too easily. So maybe maybe my yeah don' think I'd do very well. Personally, maybe I lockmysn what could be in trouble, though, because he wouldn't help out withanything around camp. I think he would because I think he knows and he' be letLoksit look likes to be led, so thers people are doing work, lockor joiningyeah and if it's just like hard Yako Lik me Wonni UPU. Why ar you to Goin tofind some sticksas? I wouldn't last because it would. I just drop me insoneyeah, I don't I'd be out within the first Fou of us. The said Campbell, though, because we reckon he could entertain everyone, but I don't knowit's got no strength for the gets a bit. GRANDPE went tired, yeah and he oesn't,like its Dirthi fingenals, gets bet stressed. I would get tre shit. I get kicked offbecause I don't like being around people. Look like that. All the time wodrive you insane Magini be on top of each other yeah. I think I'd be done because and I'dwant to Guassh about Peo. I'd want to go big walks around the island, Shitlike that which I don't think you' like to do. Yeah last general question before we hidtothe ragular history of phrase, Ofe Cokdile, if you could travel to oneplace on earth, so youre only allowed to go on one moreholiday, but it's only one country O Lon, for I don't know that ill capitatsix weeks were Yoon. You can say a raging, but then I wanteYo bick country as El, but you stuck in one region in thecountry or you can do things in the country. What do you mean? Well, I likewell, I might sell pick whistler because I get to ski every day. Well, yeah. You can pick that, but it's like a holeiday yeah, but I'm just notliving there tera every day, or I could say England because there's lots to do.But if you're soyea yeah not say you can say a whole country, we ICA again I'll. Give you two answers. One is whistler, you know if I could gothere for if I could live in a place like whistler for the whole winter andjust ski in Snowboard as much as you wanted. Do you prefer whistler to theSwiss Alps, yeah o Yep mom says ' Swiss outs, ishould have been E, ie Yo SawtAba was from Sotze Tobl, so I've been I've been Tostran Skin Ostra, im yeah. No! I now I like the I like Canada, better, because I think it's prettylike bat. You know they speak. English...

...was a big thing, yeah sure Theyam, SaiPo e Pro Biyouad beint been t all those likely. I mean the only other thingwould be yeah the UK. So there's my tube bit but differentholidays. One, because I get to do what I love every day, which is snowboard, but the second one is because it would be really nice to live in Sa Edimburougfor six months, because titd be cool yeah. What so you've traveled to so manycountries with work? What's one that you haven't been to yet that you'reinteresting going to or is there not really no well, I've been to Lijez I've beento just Aso, pretty much all the main terrorist ones and I've been throughEurope. You know so bens like spa, an stuff. No, I haven't e would likethat's good I'd like to get to Spain, Africa. Well, I've been to I've been towest Africa, which is not probably the nicest part of Africa. But then, when you look at the rest ofAfri, a will watch there so and I've got no desire to go see thebig five because e go the zoo, see that I don't need to see them in theirnatural state. So Africa would be a big cross. South America, I've been toChili Agentina Peruan Ecuadors Ive, seen all and Colombia ive seen all thereally nice parts of South America. I've been to Central America, PanamanNicaragua Been in Mexico, obviously north of South America, thenall through Asia, I would say I could say New Zealand. Now I couldsay I would say the West indies. I would like to spend some time aroundthe islands a bit I've been to Barbados, but I be good to spend some time there, but that's a different sort of holiday port of Spain. What's the capital Ois abridgetown, I don't know Bo Badoias, trying to remember the ca we' trying tothink the thing is BA bators thinks one of those islands for its an island orcity yeah yeahw. West indis are maybe Spain,Portubal Yeah Girolta, now so a bit deeper into Rugu League. What are Y, what are your earliestmemories of Racguur League? Like? Is there a specific game? You remembergoing to foryeah well non to well two memories of God. Remember sitting, which is a FACS, actually famous part of the famous you guys are too young, but there's a movie called Donna's Party, which is a famous australanmovie, and it was like a change sort of like a change of Ero movie and what itwas was the one thousand nine hundred and sixty nine the day that tigers wonthe grand final. There was a big election and they thought that golfwitland or the Labor Party was going to win like and litral party been inforever and so thought they thought that this was the big ero this. So thisthis movie is all about Don'e Party and in the background on the TVs, actuallythe tigers playing, but I remember sitting outside where mom and dad hadto go and fod to me had an old holden and the radio was on and the Tigerswere playing. So I remember that's one of my very first memories of rugbyleage and then the following season Dad took me to see what how did youvote? I didn't Fiht Mamma Dad voted Tover, you want citizen Jit. Were youyeah? I think you were straight away. Te Did something! But U because you, UKcitizens, that's likete. Well, we am a greateal. I remember we mmigrated, sowe had citizens. You know we were part of we calwe weren't here in tourish, presons, so and then the following year I went to likeot over when it was aproper over that ran the other way and saw them play new town. So the tigesplay new town and they won that game. So that that is my and we sat on thehill was dad me think mum was there an? How does that work? If you're anthe other way well, there's no hill- I was a cricket field like od over wasactuall. So is that hill, fake yeah? You know that yeah! You know I was Gonto, say that's well! You knowwhere the IL. You know those little grand that tiny little Bastan. That wason the side, so the ground that was halfway line so that I field went thatway. So what they did was when they turnd into a rectangle they actuallycut in. They dropped it Rostyeah they dropp the ground and then from all thedirt. They built the Big Hill Yeah. Why did you pick the Tigers? I had afriend called David Donny Hugh when I came from Australia to Australia, and I didn't wouldn't have done it MaNi. Then then everyone used to play Ruggbyleage at lunchtime like you know so most of a is quite weird because theschool o went tashvill primary is the back wall. This is physical. backwallof the school was the western South, es least club. So westwere we were rightin the West, western suburbs Ashfield,...

...but most of my mates went for all thepeople. I've made friends with was South causses for a big club and manly for some Weid manly were big,but it was bit we that in the West you know in Aweste city had people gone formantlly and then the tigers sort of floated, and there was West supporters,obviously- and I got to Knog David and so follow the tigets yeah. Did you everlike flirt with any other sports or when you first got here? No now Y gothooked on Ragby Leag Dad I mean I look back now and this you know. I feel bitbad about this. Dad Naturally missed it. You know it's a bit dad miss you. COULDHE MISSED IT FOOTBALL? You know SOC yeah, and so he went. He used to go and watch Apia play, whoUPR Licart, who actually just down the road from likeadovil yeah, and hewanted me to go and I would say no, I don't want to go so I look back now and feel really badabout. That was some very nice son and so he's to Goin his own Wut. It was nationalities up here,Italian and that's what put that off because of it was all. It was all racially basicyeas like the creationteam, N and T et was, and there was a Celtic play there. I can't remember:WTHERE was a Scottish yeah, he ha, and that was a really d. They just move outhere to live, and then they just play or did they actually? I think it camedown and so dad went down with the Celtic book or something got asignature of filli Col, no, not Winter Sports Bisa. I mean Rugby Union S. Interesting,Roby Union was on TV a lot more in those days, the local league in Sydny n.That was actually quiet, used to watch because because in those days, Yo onlyhave one Gamer Ri be League on TV yeah, so you'd watch other sports, so ous Tish Sydney, rugby, an thet actually becauseall the Wallaby's Playe se use to watch that so ye'd watched l like the easternsuburbs, Gan that we play. I yeah so watch that. Never really you gottremember when not you have a team Ono. No, I never really. Well. Obviously, there was rand week who wer like the one every year and then no ther was there was awestern. There was a western suburbs team which play that concord were like awhere the Tigsan ar train. That was their ground. That's a concord, but I dont thinkthey'll call western SOMORS. I think they' called something else, but theyknow that's where they played and IV few of my matesactually ended upplaying for them because our school played rugby. So there's a few friendsplayed there. Then I never really got into AFL,because when I grew up I wasnan insydney- and it was this. You know tused to be on TV vl, but you didn't really pay much attention to it andthen the swans arrived in the s but well by the by the ate. By the time itarrived, I was Ata Gon, yeah, who's, your favorite, Oh know, you've,ANSA Benyo lies but who's. Your who's, the best play you've ever seen fortigers and just in the League in general, one feach, the best tigetellery Hanley yea, closely followed by waine pierce like very closely pierce, wasn't the most skilful player, but he's the guy that they desperately Lakright now and that he was just he had a motor on him heas a bit like Victor. What's his name like exactly same sort of player, he he could tackle when yougot tackle by Im at Hert and hed do about forty. Those tackles yeah and hejust was Super F. He was like the first. You know that year wasn't into fitnesslike that now, but he was super fit and he you know he just tried his hardestand that's what you want as a captain. So but la Rehanley was somethingspecial because he he arrived in eighty eight in Roma England and turned theTigers from a bottom five team to a well. They could have won the premiership began and Bei knocked out in the grand final. How many years di you playfor the tiles one? Well, no, that's not right! He played one, he played onehndred and eighty eight, and then he went to western suburbs, and next yeardogtors that's at then he came back came back in the mids when Te Wase Shitand I think you might have played to maybe two years with them as last Hes I loi by then, because hewas like it's been like some of the big playersnow that he was really strong like Muscula, but superfast, so he could break tackles. He would just physically break tacklesbecause he was super quick, but also highly skilful and kicked. I think HEU kick goals aswell. Actually, I know that's probably bit different wit like no Internet andstuff, but with her beast in the superleague or nonot really yeah and Wa is one of the, because what used to happen is becauseO it's one of the, I reckon it's one of the sad things with superleague andthen are all playing at the same time like now, it's gone to the summer inEngland. Yeah. The way it used to work was thesuperleague season would fin al English.

Rugby League would finish in about, maythey'd have all the big competitions, and so they would come to Australia forthe last two months of the Premir ship and it was actually pretty exciting, because suddenly, your team really would have these guys well. Hanleyturned up in June late June and they only play like six or seven games, butboy so and every team, a lot of the teams had them targets just have abouttwo or three of them would rock up, and I think it's one of the sad thingsbecause they were really go and they're really good players, and I think that'swhy, in the s that lates earlyis English Rugby League was actuallypretty strong and they could challenge Austray because they were playing inthe Premi shop. If there's one thing about rack BoLeague, you could change what would you oh actually, who who's the best play? You've seen the sonotags player, Jothor Thirston, let's Gosa live or nowell, you could have sen them live or I look there's so many players in atmeans Andrew Jons, yeah, Look Johns Andrew Johns was good. I mean I was putthirstond above Johnis because I think first was like wane. pieace like justtried his hardest, never ever Gat out and that's why the wane to premire itbecause he newver ev gave up yeah where's. I I remember that match. Wewatch them play in H, Albun and every tackle lazy, every scrambling,Tacklewoul just beach on a ball drops on the ground. Where is he is right?Next to it? So there's him. I think I liked back in the old days Iliked Bobby Fugton was pretty outstanding Y, a like he was just a. Hewas just a really good player. Steve Rogers met Roger's, Dad Survivor, fame, you know and then Pete Stolin, yeah, stillthos, Goys Yeah. So sorry back to much question. If there's one thingabout rucgbuleague right now, you could change. What would you change? Well, I think they're getting on to it.It's get rid of the wrestle, but what I would love to see come back into thegame, which I think I don't. I know why they didn't, but it's striking for theball and the playthe ball yeah, because then, then what that means is because Ithink th, the biggest downfall of Ruggbi league, you Nin. This wite couldget boring and I understand why AFL people go its dull. If you get teams,it just run. Five kick run five. Kick it's pretty dull, going yeah, whereasif you know every time- and if you don't like you sortof, like human tidesplayed manly, and that was that shocking game were mainly just dominatand they just get te ball ikkeds and it was just like this is boring in lot usin. Whereas if you strike for the ball, it meansand that's the way that ruck is design that play the ball is actually mini.scrum. It means the balls in play every guy every. So you could get that Oro,punion yeah! That's why it should be, can turn over at any point. Yeah, that's pretty much wal I've gotforyer. The eight minutes till Super Saturday starts first to Saturday backup to lockdown. So I'm pretty keen thanks for coming on mate yeah. Thanksfor Y, be my questions a bit veguea thing but yeah. No, I'm looking forQestion, O yeah answers, theyre great man, they yeah. I mean, I think it's an interesting one. I coan finishup on Ruggby ly. Here's a little story, frrownd or something mom doesn't get this right. Mom's nevergot this about rugby league. There is when you live in Sydney, there's a CTand when you work into state like I've, have and lived into state there's ahuge anti rugby league feeling and it's just a snobbry. It'sthis people look down on rugby league and you know, like the people, go toprivate schools and Sitny and the north shore and the eastern suburbs, and thatthey look down an rugby league. It's a game played by the western suburbs andit's all meetheads at play. It Al People think the same. It's a stupid, scort sport, although run into it. So when I first came out of Uni and Istarted being moved into state you'd end up in these huge brawls aboutrugbyligue versus Afilm, and so I just thought after a while, I'm not going totell anyone that I wrote like Rugby League and even if you askd my people,I work with that. I work with lots. If you said you know, what's phrasespassion I dont wy pick rogbylea because I kep it very quiet yeah and that'sbecause I just know that people judge you on it and but it's interesting. I had a guy thatnow works with me Camp Switzer. He he sat with met. We were talking oneday and I said, ah sort of shepily. Let it know that yeah I'm going to fly downthe city with the family, see the Tigers and he said to me: That's really goodnessaid Ika and he said you know you've got to be passionate aboutthings in your life and it's great that you're passionate about football, andthat was a like what we say at work, Er and amoment. Where you wake up and yougo, it is true. You know following...

...sport is really good and it's. It is apassion and you should really enjoy it. You know th, it's it. You know I. I canunderstand why people don't like sport, but Jesus, nothing better, that thatwhole g, it's because it's like got a church really because it's like minepeople to instead of praying you're all going tothe ground and that feeling when you walk into the ground- and you see allthe Orange Jumpers- and you know it's just awesome so yeah I mean that's it Imean that's advice. Als, give to you guys if you're going to do anythingfollow anything be passionate about it. So if you pick a team, be passionateabout it, you know don't and that's why I'm probably Fussy that I don't haveother sports, because I've only got. I only got you know. YouKnow How passion I am about my team yeah. I don't think I cal lot a lot ofpassion left for anything else, a the hearts and so it s O. I can watch sportlike AFL, but you're, not you're, not you're, not into it, because you don'thave the passion about it. So it's different. It's like the rock pebblesand analogy. You've got your big rocks of filling up. The Jara can't get manyO it's like Righbela like like in Mike Trug Bileagu Games and be totallydisconnected from them because you go tages not playing, but as soon as thoseguys cross the line. It's game on. That's OI'LL, finish up on that littleyeah Li Siful, matright, okay, wor coming on Al Ri, Sep.
