Welcome back to another episode of theunderball podcast. The Best Potty gun round here for another nurl episode, andtoday we will be reviewing finals week one or an awesome week. It wasfor interesting games, all for their own reasons. We're going to take abit more of a deep dive this week. Usually because, as you know, eight games, there's a lot going on. Some of the Games maybearen't that important. I sort of just skim over the Games, have aBreaf, just brief discussion of what happened. But today I've, you know, doesn't research, got some stats, talked about what went wrong for teamsand Oh yeah, so that's probably going to take a bit longer today, but there is only four games, so I might even out. So yeah, that that should be good. Diving into a bit more into that andthen I also going to do this till next week. But the Dali mawards reportedly doesn't mean announced, as we all know well, and Rl fansdo, Dalm awards one of the all time worst run events ever. Notto always compare us to AFL, but the brownlows are very official event andrun very, very well and we still don't really know the date. Thesource. I saw today said it's over two days, over the twenty andthe twenty seven. So I'm not sure what they're going to be doing differently. I don't know if they're maybe going to spend a bit more time onthe Daly m plate vote count, which I wouldn't hate, because I dothink sometimes it sort of just goes a bit quick and they just read likethe top ten people who matter, which I think is a bit stiff.I reckon you know, the players who get vote should be credited. Ifyou're not what I mean, even if you only get one for the season. But so I'm going to touch on that because I don't know what awardsare being mentioned next Monday on the twenty. I'm recording this on the Monday,so week before that, but I just thought just in case they gothrough a lot of awards, I may as well do my dalling m episodetoday and then obviously going to preview the I guess a semi finals. Aren'tthey to semi finals this upcoming week? But firstly into the final, firstweek of finals. We bit of a weird one really. I said lastweek they weren't going to be many upsets. There was one and it was prettyclose. So in that sense I wasn't too far off. But thegame I think everyone was most excited for probably turned out to be the biggestFIZZER. The store mursts the seagulls on Friday night. I don't know,I just had I said on the podcast I think the storm will win,but I don't think would be by much. Like I think I maybe said fifteento twenty points somewhere in there. But on Friday and leading up Ijust had this sneaking suspicion. I know this sounds like I'm just saying thisand you know, bit of confirmation bias probably makes me feel a bit betterabout it, but I did have a feeling like it wouldn't shock me ifthe storm blow manly out. They'd all had a week off. Everyone wassort of starting to write them off. I think Michael Lenn has had themthird knees power rankings, which I just think was ridiculous. I will givemyself credit. I've had them number one of my power rankings all season.Haven't wave it on that one. But and yeah, there's a lot ofpeople backing in panthers for the Premiership. A lot of people backing in manlyand I just thought this is the kind of situation where Melbourne put on areal performance and short sort of just show everyone who's boss yet again. So, and that's exactly what happened. The storm had sixty one percent possession andcompleted ninety percent. So those two combined really hard to beat them. Prettymuch you need to get storm on a day where they maybe are a littlebit less discipline than usual, but that's a very, very rare and they'vejust got too much skill to when they have sixty one percent possession, you'renot going to beat them really unless you...

...have one of the luckiest performances ever. And then, yeah, ninety percent completion. That's obviously something they thoughtof. If they just have more ball than the opposition, even if theopposition has likes turbo one stuff. They just back themselves to be good enoughto win the game, which makes sense. The storm had five line breaks thirtysix tackled breaks, which are both pretty incredible consider manly hardly had any. I think they had zero line breaks in general, and the storm hadsix hundred and fifty meters more than manly, which is pretty incredible. Manly hadnine hours, nine penalties, so unlike the storm and the were veryill disciplined. The nine errors is not actually outrageous in isolation, but Ithink the storm on they had like five. So you compare it to some ofthe other games and it doesn't sound ridiculous. But when you put thosetwo together, eighteen turnovers, I guess you could say, yeah, you'renot really helping a chance. It's also something interesting. I know that theyonly use five interchanges and I haven't never checked the stat of my life, but I don't know that if manly have always been doing this. But Ithought that was a pretty weird, just weird thing to be doing. Iknow some of their bench is in that experienced and the likes of all theKauwa to and schooster can play eighty minutes, but I just thought that was prettybizarre to only be using five interchanges. It seems like it's somewhat of adisadvantage, especially when you're up against such a good Ford pack like Melbourne's. Another thing. Obviously you got to address it. Turbo didn't have thenormally impact that he has, but I'm not going to I'm sure there's goingto be a lot of people who come out and say he's crapping all thisstuff or his day jared Hayne. But he's still a great play out.Don't get me wrong. Would not shock me if he comes out and putson a clinic this week. But something I do have to question is tooponly had twenty touches and this is the first time he's had less than thirtytouches since round seven. So I hole ten less touches and that's pretty significantand I don't know, I don't know if I'm over analyzing this. Ithink the first fifteen minutes he was really up for the fight, like reallywanted to put on a show. I think he got met with some physicality, some rough tactics really from Melbourn, I think a fleas CAFUCI has,he solft and does came out and, you know, nothing illegal, butthey would definitely pushing the boundaries of what's allowed in tackles. And I'm notsaying he's soft or anything, but after that first fifteen and I know hehad wasn't having as much success, so maybe mainly thought that's not working, let's go do something else. But when you've been tearing up the competition asmuch as turbo has. I just think he's earned the right and manly shouldhave enough faith in him to just keep going for the whole eighty minutes,or maybe for at least sixty minutes, or just do it here and they'renot just go fifteen minutes. If it doesn't work, we pull out forthe rest of the game. Because, yeah, I don't know if itwas a tactable thing or turbo just didn't want the ball. I didn't noticehis positioning was a lot worse than the second half of it did almost seemlike he was a bit rattled and he didn't really want the ball in thesecond half, which it could it be true. I could be overanalyzing it, as I mentioned, but for me touches is I know you're going toget more touches the more effective you are, but touches is something that you cancontrol. You can't control how many means you get, necessarily sometimes thedefense is just going to be really on to you. You can't control howmany line breaks you get because, yeah, as I mentioned, the defense mightbe too good, but you control how many times you get the ball, and I just found that really bizarre and that's what I was disappointed infrom turbo. I think he only had like eight touches or something in thesecond half. So yeah, that was really disappointing. From me. Ididn't care that he had it off game. He was Dun off game. Hewas against the best defense in the competition, but the fact that hedidn't really go searching it didn't I think he had a run five meters outwith tender go and that was sort of something we hadn't seen since the firstfifteen minutes and that sort of bark this thinking. But yeah, I thinkthat was a bit disappointing from Turbo. But don't get me wrong, gunplayer always was duefer an less effective game...

...and I think he might be backthis week, but just thought I'd mention that. I thought that was abit disappointing. Morgan Harper also had a real shock. He's had a greatseason but it's started from go one really, word one really he sort of wasthat fault for that first try Cherry Evans, not with the greatest passbut just went straight through his hands. And can't remember some of the others, but I think I had three hours all up. Only had like sixtymeters. He just wasn't his usual self. I was attending to on the Saturdaymorning. I watched the bloke in a bar block and a bar andhello sport did a live reaction to it and kemp of bloke in a barmbmentioned that someone like him, who's like a very passionate, energetic player andways they sometimes maybe try and lift another gear for finals when they don't reallyneed to because they're already at that level on a regular basis. So thathe was saying maybe he was trying too hard, which I definitely could seethat being true. Someone like Morgan Harpery hasn't really made a name for themselveson the mainstream stage yet maybe wanted, you know, to put his namein bright lights. But he just wasn't playing his best footie and the callsfor Moses slow to come in. I think they would just be ridiculously drastic. This is the team that people were saying could win the premiership on Fridaymorning before they got towed up here. So I don't think he make changesto the lineup. Personally. On the storm side of things, however,Welch, papenhouse and a monster all massive, the three best players on the parkfrom Melbourne papenhow's and looks pretty much straight back to his best. He'sjust terms of speed are almost on sooppable and makes you understand why everyone wassaying maybe he's better than teddy in the first month of the competition when itwas the tiniest gap all the quiet, he pushed out a little bit toomuch. Cherry Evans didn't really slide and have announced and just went bang andwithin a second he was through that gap. And Yeah, he made Cherry Evansof Foosh a couple times. Monster was really good. He's can gamewas good. Sort of thought this would be a bit of a bounce backgame from months. He's not had these best season but he's the best biggame player on the competition and Welch, I think, showed that he's thebest prop in the game him in the big games. Obviously pain hasts wouldhave something to say about that, but in clubland we don't really seem inthe big game, so hard to say. But yeah, well, which wasimmense. I thaklumilumi probably the only negative to come out of Friday night. I think he was playing because George Gent on, no, sorry, was playing because out of car was injured and George Jennings was on the otherside and they weren't playing Dean Eremya, but he had a real shocker.I don't car should be fit by the PRELIMB, but if he's not they'llbe a big call for Bellamy to make whether he brings in near Amia because, yeah, Lumi Lumi was really suspect under the High Ball and you wouldguess that they're going to play pain rith in that prelimit. You don't wantmoney your back three being dodgy under a high ball with Nathan cleary kicking spiralbombs at you. So yeah, that was probably the only negative for thestorm, but I'm sure at a car will be back by then, sothat should be all good. Into the sad first Saturday game. This wasa game I highlighted as a potential upset. I thought the Times had the bestchance of upsetting their high seed if their opponent out of the four underdogsthis weekend. Didn't end up being right, but was very close. Came downto the final play. The game game of the year for me.I've I think I've said it a couple times this year on the podcast, but honestly, what more could you want from a game of rugby league thanwhat happened in this I don't think there's much more that you can tick off. There was twenty five errors, so you could argue it's not a goodgame just purely based off that fact, but if you watch it are youwouldn't know that was the case. It was just back and forth all day, lead changes. Every time the titans scored, the roosters would just bounceback. Some of the stats I found pretty impressive. The Times tackled atninety one point seven percent tackle efficiency,...

...which is just immense, especially againstsuch a talented team like the roosters. Daniel Tupo, Jameses go, matticval, you all had at least a hundred and seventy meters out of the backfieldand they were a massive reason why the roosters ended up getting up. Theroosters had a costly are in the in their intima line when Matt could ballydropped it straight into Wallas's hands, who sort of just had to dive overthe trial on. For me, I was obviously going for the titans,as I like the times and I usually do go for underdogs. But forme after the game I was sort of like, well, maybe it's justiceat the roosters got through there, because I know it's still part of thegame drugby league, but at the end of the day, if they lostand that was like the final try, The Times scored, that you couldvally just giving them the ball, that would have been pretty crazy. Theroosters forwards will also massive for them. SEC attacky Aho injured himself after justbeing on the field for two minutes, SAM walk only played nine minutes andFletcher Baker only played eight minutes. So yeah, some of the minutes inthat forward like were impressive or a hard rays. I'd like a hundred ninetymeters or something Toupernour and crime. We're huge on the edges Isaactually, whowas also massive, playing against his future club, which was a bit interesting. But yeah, the roosts for it's been great all year and we're onceagain on the Titan side of things. However, Jaden Campbell absolute star.I was just talking to my dad when we're watching this game and like, honestly, this is probably the best rookie class I've ever seen. Like I'msure you could go back through the archives and find a better one. Butjust on their first year alone. I've never seen a group of players comingand have such impact on their clubs. Will talk about it in a bitmore depth in the Dalian rookie of the Year award that we're going to dolater in the episode. But, like Jane Campbell, not saying a JEBRIMSON's a bad player. Obviously is an origin representative. But yeah, JadeenCampbell's just seemed to add an absolute spark to this team that they were lacking. Sam Walker as really impressively filled a hole in that rooster's line up,steering them around for Seventeen Games at halfback. Reese Walsh feeling the shoes are RogerTwo of us a check you'd have hardly noticed there was a change there. He was that good. Josh Schuster's being immense for manly. You toorKamanu and Dane Laurie for the Tigers will awesome in a struggling team. Soyeah, that. Honestly, I don't think there's been a better rookie classand jade and Campbell, if you'd played more games, could definitely be inthe running for that rookie of the year award because he it has been hugeever since he has been given an opportunity for the times and I think,I don't think it's confirmed, but I definitely think if they can get Campbellat one Brinson at six next year and they get Brimston firing, I thinkthat's going to be a lethal combination. And then other players that I thoughtwere really good for the Times, Brian Kelly and Patrick Herbert, I thoughtplayed really, really well on the senters. Both had over ten meters a carry, big bodies and they definitely made the most of that. Obviously, herb it was part of the unfortunate ending. I'll be honest. Live I wasactually yelling just go yourself, and I still think if you just heldon to the ball and just kept trucking, I think you might have got there. But in the end you went for the Miracle Flick Pass. It'sa tough one because it's one where you sort of commit to yourself and thenyou go or, crap, I'm not skill school, flick it out theback. But I know everyone on replay saying that he should have given itto fe feeder and I think he should have given it to feed it ifhe went early but after you'd sort of committed to running, it was prettyhard because he would have had to like go back inside and sort of predictfor feed as angle. But yeah, I don't think it can be tooharsh. I think everyone's being too harsh on her but I understand Thompson yelledat him and that's just passion and I'm sure they, you know, hada beer after the game and everything was fine. But yeah, I thinkyou can't really overanalyze a situation like that...

...because, yeah, it's probably themost precious situation you can do and there was maybe about four or five optionshe could have done and unfortunately the one he picked just didn't work. Soyeah, that I felt bad for Herbert after a really good game. Andthen in the Ford's most fought away Kad Jared Wallace and Tina for Silm awhile hour. We were immense. Honestly, Fot away, cur and Tina areso good, whileas was like legit, playing like a ball playing lock attimes. He was so agile and his ball playing was impressive. Theyall had over one hundred and thirty meters. Those three guys, Tino and morealso had thirty three tackles more didn't Mrs Single Tackle Pot awake was alsohuge in the last ten just when they need a lift. Obviously there's alittle bit of controversy surrounding the field goal with the blockers and stuff. Iwhen I listen to the NRL briefing with Gray Mountain as lead today and it'ssort of clears it up. It sounds like the rule will be changed inthe offseason. But they they weren't breaking the law. It's hard to argue. I just think Mitt. Yeah, it's tough. It's a tough onebecause miss rain he did can't run the direct line because warrior Hargraves is there. Sadly, they've been letting them do it all year and for quite afew years now actually. So yeah, I think it's something that will beaddressed in the offseason but for now, unfortunately, I don't think tides havemuch of a case. I think it happens for the rest of the finals. I'll tell it give you the hint now, based somewhat I heard thatbriefing. I think players will run into the block and hit the deck andmake the refmaker call. That's just what I think will happen because journalists askedthat and an as lie said that would be a completely different situation and ifthey are yet deemed it to be in the way, it would be apenalty. So yeah, if that happens, don't say I didn't tell you that. More just into the Saturday night game, panthers versus Rabbitos low scoringgame, typical finals. Only three tries worse scored and I know like PaulKent has ruled the panthers out and I think that's a bit extreme. They'vedefinitely made things harder for themself. It look like after Friday night that apenrith Melbourne ground finals almost a block. But the rabbit has got the jobdone and fair played away and Bennett arguably one of the best wins of hiscareer. They will right up against it their best player not in the teamand yeah, it's just huge from the rabbit as they all just put ina hundred percent. It wasn't the greatest viewing, especially after the rooster's titansgame, but yeah, penrith just look really tired. I don't know ifthe conditions played apart. Obviously more humid and hot up in north Queensland thatit is in Sydney and even southeast Queensland, but both teams playing the same condition, so you can't really use that argument. But they yeah, theyjust look tired. I think Jerome Lui. Obviously it's easy to bash on aplayer after they've lost and not so much when they've been winning. ButI do think since origin Jerome Law has been pretty quiet. He was awesomeat the start of the year but now, yeah, I don't know. Ilooked at the starts for the game. He had seven runs forty nine meters, only kicked it twice. Like you just didn't have much impact onthe game. And Yeah, I think I like, I know clear he'sthe best kicker in the game and he's also the best half back in thegame, but I still think you need that balance to be a potent offense. And like if you get Lui fire and because right now the defense isbasically no, they're going to give to cleary and the only time really louI gets the balls when clearly gives it to him. So I do thinkthey could maybe get that balance a little bit more, even in the forwards. Kick out and Yo really, really good. I'm not the biggest fanof kick out usually, but I thought he played really well on the weekendand Isaaih Yo good as always. On the South side of things, BlakeTaft did a very, very good job at full back. Had A couplemistakes, but all in all, three...

...young men only playing like his fifthgame or something, whatever it was. Yeah, super stuff on the bigstage. You would have known it was his fifth game. For me,Campbell Graham was man of the match. Yeah, I just he just seemedto be making the big tackles when it counted. He was obviously playing upagainst that dangerous penrith left edge and yet he was just snuffing at all opportunity. Lui Burton to Oh they didn't have much impact on the game and Ithink Campbell Graham had a huge saying that. I think for me this is abit of a breaking out like I know he's been in the origin campand stuff like that, but for me this is a bit of a breakoutgame for him. I've alwaice seen his skill but I've never quite seen himlike really dominated game and I thought defensively he was the best player in thepark. For sales. I also thought Cody Walker had his best big matchperformance. I mentioned in last week's podcast. This is like the final chance I'llgive walk. If he performs badly on another big stage, I'll officiallynever say he's a great player. But yeah, he was really good,I thought, especially early when the game was on the line. I knowI was on the line the whole eighty minutes, but I thought he wasreally, really good and yeah, that's something he hasn't been able to doin previous big game, so that's huge for him and the rabbitos moving forward. Tom Bird just had two hundred and twelve meters off the bench, whichis absolutely insane for a forward in a finals match against one of the bestforward packs in the COMP so fair play to Tommy. Burgess Dry Ara hada massive impact off the bench as well. I think he's sort of given themthat edge and that forward packed they've been missing the last couple of years. They've sort of like depth in the forwards recently and yet him and Burdjust coming off the bench is just dynamic and he really gets under the skinof the opposition, as he was doing, and the bunnies were more disciplines thethe panthers at the end of the day, which is important. Obviouslythe big headlines coming out of this one the press conference beef. If youactually watch the press conference, I don't think it was that like hectic. What I'van clear he was saying was true, saying that like it's a bit weirdthat you can't say stuff about the referees after a game but if yousay during the week you don't get fined, which is also which is interesting. He said he is admitted to doing it before, but he said thatneeds to be looked at, which I think like their point. And Yeah, I've been clearly just has this way of speaking. He's very measured aboutthings, so you sort of he's very persuasive, you'd have to say forpeople to get behind his point. But yeah, he was also talking abouthe doesn't think coaches should be allowed to call up refs and have like directcontact with them because like thinks it's a little bit like in intimidating or whateverand he reckons maybe that played. He was saying his players we're getting toldstuff about maybe blocking for cleary that during the game that they've never been toldbefore. So yeah, I get like it's an interesting point. I didn'treally know there was as much dialog between the clubs and the REF as therewas the refs. It makes sense and I was saying maybe they shouldn't butlike, I talked to my dad and he's like, Noah, they deservethe chance to talk about some interpretations, and that is true. But yeah, I don't know. It's an interesting one and the cleary wasn't really likeblaming Wayne Benny. He was genuinely just talking about the issue in general, where benish sort of fired some shots at Ivan cleary, saying used to workthere, he's got mates there. They probably get the benefit of calls andstuff. Way Benett's a like. It was pretty funny press conference. Ifyou haven't watched it, go watch them. It's pretty like it's a bit ofsoap opera stuff from the press conference. But that moved us into the finalgame. Eels nights on the Sunday. Wasn't came for. This one endedup being a decent game, high scoring than I was expecting. EelsTwenty Eight, two nights twenty. Controversial penalty try at the end, butultimately I don't think it had that much...

...bearing on the result. I thinkthe heels always going to get over the line once again. Go Watch theNRL referees briefing if you want to hear the judgment on that penalty try.Gray mandlessly talked about it pretty well. Mitch Moses played really well. I'vebeen critical of him in the past. I think he's a bit of aflat track bully, but, and I know their nights aren't the greatest opposition, but he ran the ball a lot, which is something he sometimes forgets. That is one of his greatest skills next to his kicking game. He'sjust awesome running's really fast and he's got great elusiveness and I think it wasthe try scored when he just ran straight, or maybe assisted a truck car,but he went ran straight between scie feeding and Clema and yeah the like. There was this ten week period for the Tigers where he played really, really well and that's what he was doing, like he was taking the game onrunning and I think sometimes he steers away from that too much and itwas good to see him doing that again. He played awesome. Ponger really playedwell. I questioned his abilities last week. I said he has hada great season. Still stand by that, but think he had his best performanceof the year. Some beautiful cutout passes that one think toil's last try, absolute rocket, took the defense completely out of the equation. He's unstoppableat times and I think you was they were making a conscious effort to givehim more ball and in better positions. Mitchell piers played really poorly, though, and I don't think he's helped his case for staying at the nights nextyear. I know he's signed up, so it's not really their choice, but I definitely think if a club comes in for an offer, even ifthey have to pay a little bit of his cellar, I think they'll takeit because, yeah, unfortunate. Like it's a tough one because I thinkthey've built this squad to be in a premiership window. However, the coachtiming and the squad timing hasn't really met lined up well. So I thinkthen for not going to like rebuild, but I think they've got to aimagain for maybe in four years or something because, yeah, right now they'restill fair way off. But you know, they've signed Gaguy there linked to TarikSims. Will see how that goes. Don't know if that will happen, but yeah, the rest of the team still pretty young. I thinkclemma leaves this year's off contract. They're still got the siffeedie boys, whichBarnett, Connor Watson's been like. So yeah, it wouldn't shock me ifthey've and they've obviously brought in Clifford. So wouldn't shock me if they dolike a mini, not a rebuild, but a mini like stagnation to tryand launch again for maybe a two thousand and twenty five premiership, because althoughtheir squads really, really good right now, just with the coaching situation, Idon't think they're really going to be in the conversation anytime soon. SoI wouldn't I think peer should leave. Personally, on the power side ofthe ball, will pennessini absolute freak. Every time I've watched him I've beenso impressed. He's so good defensively and then that flick pass to Furgo.I don't even know how he got it out. Honestly, I swear he'sarmed in Moveles, just all wrist and he somehow flung in it. AndYeah, the camera was even like where did that go? But only nineteenyears old. Looks like he's twenty five. But I reckon he's just going tobe not, maybe not as good as Josh Morris, but like hegives me that kind of Vibe, like he's just going to be a dependable, reliable center for so many years to come. Isaiah probably he had ahundred ninety four meters in fifty six minutes off the bench. Seventy one postcontact meters. I was shocked he came off the bench, to be honest, because I actually hadn't checked the team list and then once I saw whathe did off the bench, I was like yeah, fair, fair play, Brad Arthur. I have to say I've I'm not sure about Brad Arthur'scoach, but he made some good calls here. Ray Stone playing hooker washis next good call. Obviously didn't have like a dynamic running game or anything, but he made fifty tackles in fifty four minutes. Honestly, I thinkhe's still a free agent for next year. If I was the tigs tigers fantalking, I'd go sign them up because he plays with passion, playswith soul and yeah, he's a really,...

...really good defender, which is rareto see these days. Also on the night side. Sorry, andNary toil and him will hunt played pretty well out of the back. Butthat moves us on to just the headlines. I've just got one today before wemove into the Daly m porch, and also got to do the powerrankings. They moved the storm Preland today and I'm pumped about this. Icouldn't believe that there was going to be an NL prelimb and afel grand finda clashing. I know the AFL moved their grand final into our preland timeslot, but I think logic has prevailed in the NL has brought the stormpreland forward. I'm sure it actually I don't even know. I who willhurt the ratings actually, because they were probably going to lose ratings tod AFL. I think any NRL fan who doesn't think this is a good moves abit of an idiot and a bit like. I don't want to be attacking becauseI know everyone has their opinions, but I think you're a bit stubbornif you think this is a bad move. Ultimately, I think. I knowthere in competition, but I think fans, I have an interest inAFL. I live in Melbourne so I would like to watch the grand final, but I'll also like to watch the storm prelimb. So I'm grateful forthis and I think there's a lot of people in my position who they mightnot be afl fans but they certainly have an interest in watching their biggest gameof the year. So I'm grateful they've done it. For people who sayit's like an inferior move, it's a backward step. For Peter the land, he's a yeah, as I mentioned, I just think AFL and and Irella out their throats a little at each other's throat's a little bit toomuch at times and I think there's enough people in Australia to have to bigwinter codes and I can't see why they can't do well harmoniously together. Man. anyways, that's another chat for another day, but very glad the NRLdid that. Common Sense did prevail. Power rankings. Huge change in thisone, and this is really controversial. Obviously I got the storm one prettyselfexplinentally put on a clinic looking short things for the grand final. Now thisis weird, but this is how the draw has ended up. I've actuallychanged my order and it's seem me put manly at number two. I knowit sounds stupid because they got pumped by Melbourne, but anything can happen inthe grand final. You've just got to be there. You've got to buya ticket to win the lot tree, as they say. So you've gotyou got to be there and I just think with the seagulls draw, Ithink they're next to the storm. I think they're the second most likely teamto make the grand final. I honestly do. I know the Rabbito's justbeat Penrith, so arguably they should be the number two, but I justthink the fashion they did it, it was really tough, it was reallyhard as gritty defense, but I don't think it like impressed me in termsof like attacking flare or whatever. And I think the manly could be theRabbit Os. So I've got manly second, rabbitos third because of that factor, and then I got penrith fourth. Sadly, I don't think they're thefourth best team the COMP don't get me wrong, but I just think theirdrawn. Now if they go on to win the premiership here, it's goingto be one of the best wins ever because that's going to be huge.Coming up against wall power amount is not going to be easy this week andthen trying to beat the storm the week after. It's going to be reallytough. Five and clear his men, and then I've got the roosters inat fifth. I know they're on the easier part of the draw, butI still think beating manly, the titans, manly and Rabbito's, I still thinkwinning all those three games for this injury riddle squad will be really tough. And then I got power in at six. They have to beat Panthersand stall and backtoback weeks. Really tough. I'm all right, Dai, mawards time. I'm going to go through all the awards, starting withrookie of the year. I think Sam mark is locked, locked and loadedbaby. Seventeen Games starting halfback for the roosters. However, this is notabout what I think will happen, it's what I believe should happen. WhoI think the rookie of the year is now? Look, I've found thisone weird. I didn't think Sam Walk was the best player, but ultimatelya lot of recency bias in that he...

...hasn't been playing halfback the last sixweeks and I thought it was reese Welsh. Personally, however, I've looked atsome stats. Reese Welsh's play a lot less games and I thought aswell. So I think Walker should get it just ahead of Walsh and thenchust should be third. But I think it should be really close. However, because it's done on Daly m votes, it wouldn't be surprised it's if it'sa whitewash, because shust to probably will struggle to pick up votes inmanly and Riese Walsh is playing a team that loo lost a lot of games. So I think Walker could cruise to that. One captain of the yearI've given it to James Tedesco. I just think the way he's led histeam through really tough times. At points he probably didn't even know some ofthe blokes he was playing with. And I will say about Ted he hasbecome a bit of a winer, as a lot of captains do. Butyeah, ultimately this is a tough award because we don't really know what acaptain's like, but I just think the way he's we can week out heleads by example. He is one of those captains he's not, like, you know, the loudest Talker, but he leads by example. Always playsnine or ten out of ten each week and yeah, I think he's ahuge reason why the roosters made finals, are and are still in the competition. Coach of the year its pretty much copying pace one I just said.I've got Trent Robinson in there. I just think what he to come fifthand look at the outs he's had any squad this year and the cap spacethey have pretty impressive and I don't think many other coaches could do it.You can always argue Craig Bellamy gets daim coach the year, but for methis I think it's ten Robinson. And there's a lot of people saying deshas lat but for me there's no doubt that their improvement has stemmed from turbo. And I know it's not solely turbo because a lot of the other playershave improved, but just the fact that they were so bad without turbo andso good with him makes me not think that Desi should win this award.Try The I've given it to manly's last try of the game against the cowboys. I know this could be recency bias, but I honestly think that's the bestdry I've ever seen. Turbo's individual one in the same game could bea contender, but I just think Ruben Garrick running back, eighty minute lastplay, nothing to play for and they score one of the great length ofthe field tries overseen. I think it deserves it. Tackle of the year. I know it's a bit weird them gone through these awards, but I'mdoing it baby. I went back and watch the tackles. Not many youstand out contenders like last year's Josh pupae Ankle Tapper. I'll give it toZavier coats. He made this chase down tackle at Sun Corp on Danga GuyRan Gag. I had about a ten in a head start, ran fifteenmeters tackle him over the sideline. Really, really good tackle actually. But yes, I think I think the actual tackles the here. For me itwasn't a tackle by a being Haloom Luky. Someone chased Riese Welsh down and theylike grabbed his coll and tried to sling him over the boundary the sidelineand they like flung him into the trial line. He scored. But forme that was the funniest because you like chase down Riese. Well, she'shis pasty kid and everything, but anyway, Peter fillingles headline moment of the year. This is a tough one because I tried to look back at thehistory and see the kind of things they give it to. For me,the things that have probably made the most headlines is the magic round blitz. That happened obviously like fourteen simbin and send off combined, I think. Ithink that's the most of all time and the media just went absolutely crazy thatweek. I don't think I've ever seen as much nurl stuff on social mediain my life. And then obviously the Latrell thing. They were huge momentsgot the media talking the most, I think, from the year, butI don't know if they give them to negative things, because to me thatsounds a bit weird. So I'm going...

...to say the Blues Win in GameOne. I don't think anyone saw it coming. The bruis blues with afavorite as usual, but the Marones one fairly convincingly last year and yeah, the blues just pumped him. I forget what the score was. It waslike forty six to four, fifty two four, fifty two, hundred twentysix, something like that, something in that ballpark. But yeah, Iwas one of the most convincing origin wins I've ever seen. No one wasreally expecting it in north Queensland as well. Yeah, I just think that isthe headline over the year for me, if they stay away from the somewhatnegative stuff. I know the magic round blitz isn't really negative, butmost of the headlines were negative. All Right, Daly M team of theyear and then I'll say my player at the year at the end because obviouslymy Daly am team that you will give it away. Bull Back I've gotobviously Tommy TURBOT. Wing I've got Brian Totter. Thing's being immense and yes, he's obviously been injured, but still think he deserves it. Went otherwing, I've got Daniel Tupo. They're both in the top ten, Ithink, maybe top five, average pose contact meters a game and I thinkthat's one of the most important stats because that's sort of just shows, likeI know, meeters before contact is important as well, like if you're youknow, get three meters before contact in for after, you're not as goodas a player getting eight before. But I think everyone, like you, know what I mean. It's not so much skill getting to the contact ifyou're working through it. Getting seven meters attackle after being hit. I thinkthat's really impressive. So I've got those two their Justin Olm and Ryan Burn, my centers. Think the manly boys are pretty stiff here. Remi Smithstiff, probably some others I'm for getting. Joey Marney also stiff. But Ijust think Justin Olm has been the best center for me. Him andout of cars, just freakish combination. He's crazy defender as well, sogood at assisting und O car. And Yeah, Maddie Burton. Surprise ofthe year, you'd have to say being Daly am center of the year. But yeah, I think it's been that good so fast. He's so damaging. Yeah, I think he's a gun and I think even at center he'sdone preferred position. He can win this award. Five. Eight, I'vegot cody Walker. I think five. It's a real weak point of theNRO white right now. I thought about drome lay because he's first ten weekswere awesome, but ultimately I think cody Walker's run home has been too goodand I think clear at halfback. Not much of a discussion. Their dromesuse will get a lot of votes because Melbourne win a lot and he's beenreally, really, really good this year. But yeah, ultimately it's got tobe clear he doesn't it. Prop I've got pain Hass and he bronchoswhen he probably gets three votes and any broncos loss he probably pushes full onevote. But yeah, ultimately I think he's the best problem the game bysome bit. Hooker. I've got Brandon Smith. You'll pick up a lotof votes, as I mentioned. For drame Hughes, same thing, butalso believe he's been the best hooker in the game. Probably another spot likefive eight, where I don't think the competition has been that dominant this year. And Hooker, obviously Harry Grant on the bench. Damian Cook Been Poor. Chorus has been hit and miss like that probably sounds to be harsh. It's been good but not outstanding. In the other prop of got for NooraBlake. I can remember what metric I used. It was either post contactor just meters in general, and he was in like the top five forthat, which I did. Didn't know and I didn't actually, you know, he played like Sixteen Games, so I put him in there like maybeI haven't watched him enough to be putting him in there, but I justremember last year for manly. He was so damaging in some games and tothink if he's in like the top five for that start, I can onlyimagine what he was doing with the itest like he was probably tearing games up. David fo feed is my first second row up. How many tries hescored? One thousand seven hundred and eighteen like that's crazy from a back rowertackle bus machine and I know he's sort...

...of been used weirdly some people whoquestion whether he's worth the money, but ultimately his performance alone gets him inthis team. And then second other second Rolls Isaa Paperli. Maybe hasn't hadthe finished to the season. That why I just said he played awesome onthe weekend but he hasn't been playing back row. He hasn't been playing backrow recently. So you could argue delives have to be back roll but forme, like first fifteen weeks he was awesome. He's probably by the yearby some margin. Lock I've got Cam Mauri. Just snubbed Isa Yo,but I've got Murray in there thing. He's been immense for the Rabbitos yeah, just a gun. Glad they've stopped trying him on the edge because heis a middle forward, absolute beasts defending and he's also so fast and sogood on his feet. He's just, yeah, perfect lock. And theninterchange. This was a really tough one. Harry Grant. I've tried to makeit so they played a minimum of twelve games that position. Nicko hinshaven't played enough games. Are Grant hadn't played enough games. Are the othercandidates to find a u took Aman, who he's been pretty good, butI went with Tom Styling. I just think when he comes on for theraiders. I've sort of hyped him up the last couple episodes if you've beenlistening, but I think when he comes on for the raids they become abetter team. And Yeah, he's just a really, really damaging hooker.Loves running out of the dummy half position. Yet gun tackle up. Yeah,I just love Tommy Styling and he's my interchange player of the year andthat moves I was into the finals week to preview. Not Too much totalk about this week because I'm recording it on a Monday. No teamless outat such. SEEAGULS roosters. Both Games are in Macai, interestingly. Idon't hate it, though, get around it. SEEAGUL's roosters. Sam verrel'scould potentially be banned for one to two weeks. I would be huge out. I think you should be suspended pretty badly. Hit Brian Kelly in thehead. Should have been simbind but anyways, I think I think you'll be rubbedout. I wonder what they're going to do, whether they play rallya hooker or been marsh key. Might be a bit of both. Mightthey might do like Brandon Smith sort of thing, like the inverse. Actually, they might start rather or Hook Lock Marsh Kid Hooker and then, afterlike twenty minutes, put Marsh get on the bench because he hasn't been playingmuch footy, rather in a hook or they might do them cheese thing.I don't know, but that's definitely their main options. Look, I thinkthe roosters will make it tight. I don't think the roosters will get blownour. But yeah, I've just got a back manly, I know lastweek was a real stinker for them, but I think they will want toprove the critics wrong. Obviously, the three games on the weekend. We'reall pretty close. So a lot of the negative energies being put towards manly'sweight and I just overly does. It was a poor performance, but Ithink Turbo bounces back, I think Cherryman's bounces back and all the other playerswho weren't happy with their performance. I think manly win it. I knowit's a boring call, but other lines ten and a half. I'm probablygoing to back manly at the line as well. Actually, I think itmight be like three tries in it. Don't think it will be a hugemargin, but yeah, manly by like sixteen for me. Panthers versus theEELS. This is tough because the eels are defending really well and the panthersare not attacking well. So for me it's going to be a close game. I don't think Oh, they scored twenty eight points, but it wasagainst to night. I don't think powers attack is good enough to break thepanthers defense. Personally, the Rabbit Oh struggle to do it and they're muchbetter attacking team then the EEL. So for me the panthers definitely win.I'm sure I've just given them the kiss...

...of death saying definitely, but I'mprobably going to take the eels of the line, the lines of eleven anda half and the panthers favor. But yeah, I think I'll back andinto be a close game. I think the eels go on. Defense isone of the best in the competition and yes, the panthers are likely goingto come out wanting revenge after last week's pall performance. But yeah, Ithink I'll be close, as most finals games are. I don't think pantsas will score many points. I foresee like a maybe a twenty six.Now that's too many points for paramotter. I think maybe Penrith win two thousandtwo twelve, something like that, and then I'll guess the seagulls rooster schooland I'll back in manly to score to win thirty to sixteen yet.
