Bundesliga Update - Episode 16

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

New guest to the show, Angus Rowe, joins Hamish to discuss the last 3 matchdays in the Bundesliga including the recent title decider between Dortmund and Bayern.

Cheese settle. Yeah, all right, welcome back to the on the ball podcast. This is episode sixteen of the show. Today we are joined by Angus row. Welcome. They right, it's good spe you. Good to have you on. So I need to make a quick disclaimer. So this is actually the second episode I'm recording with you. However, this will be the first one up on all the various podcast listening platform so this is technically your debut, even though you've already done so. There's an episode, I think, coming out next Tuesday about the AFL season and you're in it and I go on about how it's your debut. So just a quick disclaimer to anyone who's listening to this end. Yeah, this is actually his debut, technically, on the on the ball podcast. So just forget about everything I say. It's still a prize. Applies to Broady, I guess. But yeah, yeah, so just forget about that. Um, today we're going to be chatting about the Bundesliga, so it's the only soccer league going on right now that actually matters. There's like the Korean League or whatever, but can't say I'm going to watch it and realistically there's just so much sport. I can't think of any other sports that are on. There's the UFC, but that's not really yeah, I don't yeah, I don't think there's any other mainstream sports going on now. I can't. I can't recall any. I was remember seeing the adds and this absolutely everywhere. Is if it was just the first one to return. So yeah, so, yeah, it's been a bit of a savior, to be honest. I think I really realized how much of part sport plays in my weekly routine, especially the weekends. Like I'll do uni a week and then I'll get to the weekends and I'll be like, well, I'm meant to be watching sports, I'm not sure what to do. But the Bundesliga coming back kind of help that out a bit. So today we're just going to go through the last three weeks of action pretty much. I haven't talked about the bundess league a since before the first match back. We did a little bit of a predictions episode with Rhet so I feel like I had to address it. So yeah, first up we've got also, we're not going to be we're not Bundes league experts, so we're mainly going to be touching on the top for top five teams today. So if you're a if you're a union Berlin fan and you don't want to want to hear about your matches, unfortunately it's probably isn't the place for you. But so we'll start off. It was the big opening game, the REV a derby is dorman a shocker. Did you watch this? I did watch it. Yeah, how did you find it? I think I thought. I'm really watched much of the womb's league before and yeah, I thought was a great watch see. Obviously one to kid highland. I've never actually seen him life before. I've seen isilts and scoring hat tricks his debut and stuff, but never seen him live and didn't realize how much of an actual threat he was on the field. Obviously scored a goal and so did the other has I and I think gre kick too. So it's a good watch. Yeah, it was really attacking as well, like even show cut. They didn't score any goals, but I remember like the first twenty thirty minutes they had like a lot of chances and it was free, like free flowing. I think both teams were a bit unfit and rusty, so ...

...there was chances the whole time. Like yeah, it was is really entertaining to watch, but obviously the school line is a bit onesided. But I think, I think Shaq, we're a bit stiff in the end. There's a start. So I talked about these first few games on my brother's podcast actually, so go check it out. It's the watch a podcast. He's also lent me he's laptop for this episode, so I probably should shout him out. So cheers, lock. Go go list to the watch a podcast. I yeah, haven't. So there's a there's a start called expected goals and it kind of ranks each shot in like how often that shot will result in a goal. So it can't it's purposes to kind of give it indication as to who actually deserved to win. So if someone scores a flute goal from halfway, that's going to be really low in the expected goal start. So in this match the expected goals were actually Dorman only had one, point, four five expected goal. So it showed that they put away some really like half chances and it's made Shaker pay for probably some chances that against a weaker attacking team, they wouldn't put away. So I think Shaker will probably a bit stiff in the for nil school line, dormant. They were body elite in this match, all of them, like Hazard Brown, even to, who was impressive, though, all just like Silky dhodam reminds me a lot of like the next good to one kind of yeah, it's just a silky little general in the midfield. I love watching and play. Yeah, I've also got written here. There's a couple shower players who look decent, Western mckenny, who's like their CDM. He looked decent. And I mean Harrott he as a FIEFA player. I know that he was the Bundes League a player at the month in like September, so I was excited to see him. He was really looked, really dangerous when he got on the ball. But if I'm honest, he didn't have much impact on the game in general. But he is one of those players where every time he gets it he's likely to draw a foul or like they'll be someone else open on somewhere else on the pitch because he gets double teamed or something. So he was dangerous. Have you got anything else on this match? No, I'm just looking at the stats as well. So looking at dormant. They only had one more shot. Yeah, she'Llka. Yeah, so that's definitely strength and see you. You know the staff of deserved goals. I remember obviously one of the ones was complete are from rbet shall keeper. He had a first half. Yeah, he's just he's just bold it straight to arm her. Well, I think it was grearer and grower. Yeah, on the field. Yeah, and I needed I need that for my sports, but multi I needed a I needed two first half goals and he's just given it to him in the forty five and all my celebration woke up the family. But boy, yeah, I just and then there was there was a whack goaling. It was I think it's greas second actually use an outside the foot shot. Oh, yeah, yeah, it was almost like they played north sidetrack. She'll can didn't work. I'm everyone just they just grew play it, you know, right at the right time and it was just a one of them caper and just slowed past on. But yeah, I that partnership of guerre has, I'd and Hakimi's well running down the side. Yeah, as well. I think they use the white play as well. Obviously have got highland in the center I think that tactic works really well from against. Obviously the might the vast majority of the budness like a seams. But yes, they look good. Yeah, they're they're only seven goals scored behind by and for the season, so they're by far and away the second best attacking team in the calm. They're like they've scored like twenty five more goals than the...

...fourth most. So it's pretty scary what they do when they have the ball and they're in like full flow. But yeah, as you said, they're just got so many good young players. Like hole was so impressive, like from the highlights. I know we all know the records and stuff because we see it on facebook everything. More the highlights you kind of most of these goals are kind of like six yards out and he's just tucking it away. Like I thought he was maybe just a bit of a cherry picker who was kind of just right place, right time, but I watched him and even his stuff like off the ball, like he's runs, he's just link up play. They all really impressive. And Yeah, he was so fast. I don't realize because he's really tall as well. But like so I shume maybe you just be a bit like uncoordinated it, but there are a couple counterattacks and he was rapid. I was like, yeah, I don't know how people meant to stop him, but yeah, pretty much all four of the goals will like that. They weren't half chances, but they were clinical finishes, like Guerrero's two goals, even though one of them was the keeper era, like he was on quite an angle and put at bottom corner. And then he's one that was outside of the boot like that. What didn't need to be hard, but he made it hard by doing that. Yeah, and then hazard's goal. Once again, he probably didn't need to make it hard, but he took it like first time and just roosted at bottom corner. So Fair goals by Dormin all four of them. So that was a clinical display and I actually had hope the dormand could have chased down by and will touch on it later, but at the moment it looks like their hopes that have been dashed. But yeah, yeah, I had a lot of faith in them after this performance. Next it was at the same time, Leipzig vers Freiburg. I catch the last thirty minutes of this. It was pretty close. It was one. All is just a standard match really, where you've got one team dominant passing ball, had like seventy percent possession or something, and then the other teams just parking the bus. I've got some notes here on this match that I wrote like after watching it. Team overarner really disappointed me, but it's fair to say he made up for that poor match last weekend scoring a hat trick. But once again, we'll touch on that later. Mussels, subits are and Adam Lookman, they really impressive off the bench two players that I'm fond of, like I know look from the Premier League and sub BITSA had a great start to the season, so I don't know why they're on the bench, especially Subitsa, but that was very impressive. But it is also really disappointing. From Leipzig, like Friedberg, you've got to be beating Friedberg if you want to chase down dormant and buy it. Yeah, they've, and they've bear the chances. They're really, yeah, chasing down one of the two. It's definitely going to be no hide and third for them after, yeah, not being able to be Friburg or again this morning, drawing to heard of early. Yeah, yeah, they've they've they've drawed ten matches, which is the tired most in the whole league, and they've one fifteen, drew, drawn ten, where dormant seventeen and drawn six. So their ability to put away teams is really letting them down. This game is kind of frustrating me because the commentators were just getting around lips you can, saying like all they deserve to be up. It's like, I don't care if you have seventy percent possession if you're not good enough to make most of it and put goals on the board, like I don't think you do deserve that front. Yeah, so the commentators were really piss me off. The expected goals thing does actually suggest lipsig should have one easy. They had one, point, nine and two expect a goals Fryburg and they had zero, point, three, three. But Freyburg were...

...actually closer to winning this than Leipzig because they had a header in the ninety two minute that was overturned by the AAR. So it was almost even worse. It was almost even a more disastrous day for Lipzig if they came away with no points, but they came away with a drawer, which not great, especially considering they probably had an easier run than dormant, so they were probably more favorites to chase down by and before we resumed the league. But that's obviously changed now something that's of watched. I've watched Lipzig a couple times and to me they remind me of I think I tweeted this the other day, but I think they're they remind me of like pet man city, when just as they hired pet, like they are playing this great, attractive football. They'd really good young players, but they like just don't have they're not like a complete package yet. Yeah, and where where you can kind of see in two years they like surely they're going to be unstoppable. And like Man City, everyone kind of knew that. I think they came forth and PEPs first year. Everyone kind of just knew like next year they were going to be freakishly good, and I feel like this is something Leipzig kind of looking like they're going to do. But I tweeted this to like a soccer pundent on twitter and he replied saying he agrees in terms of like the style of play, but the difference is Man City have like unlimited money, so trophies were kind of inevitable for them, whereas Leipzig this might actually be their ceiling and they might like be like struggle chasing down by an endorment in because of the finances. But Yeah, who knows? Hopefully they've got a lot of young players, so maybe they can flip a profit on a few and reinvest it. And Yeah, so next, next. So that was it for the Saturday night. Next game I had notes on. So we're only talking about the top five, as I mentioned earlier, but I had did you watch the Lipsick Friburg at all or watching dormant shocker? No, I did manage to click over and catch that Um overturn header. But yeah, I think. Yeah, I thought use it's just that inability to put away Friberg, because I watched the whole after him. Yeah, like that look they had. They had, no, I think it was sixty one percent possession the whole game. They had, you know, more than double the amount of passes Friburg made. But yeah, it was just not attacking an off style of play, especially with the list they've all, you know, burner up front and they've got a really solid team. Yeah, definitely, but yeah, it's just in their inability to put away a bit like, bit like, like I said, in the AFL. I really like that, least that I'm always have the lay back to I felt I really like the list, but it's just, you know, that inability to always finish it off and finish highly in the on the ladder. That's right. I sort of your wife would when I, when I saw the result, sort of stuffs. Yeah, Liverpool, actually, we both livepool fans. Liverpool used to kind of do this. Yeah, like I remember where every time we'd play like Newcastle, Weird never win, like you would always be one or something. Remember, there's that match, I think John Joe's Shell, we sport against US something. So maybe it's just something like great teams have to go through to become good. So who knows? Maybe this is almost a good omen for Leipzig, but it's definitely what's let them down in terms of the title race. The inability to put away sides. Yes, quite surprising. Yeah, because I'm so. I think there's you think they're such like an attacking team with the players they've got, but obviously they just don't have it. They just don't have that thing that, yeah, I guess...

...exactly. I'm and you look at them for as well. It took it took that one selling of continue to really Um, you know, catapult and back into the top of the Premier League. They you know, they use the funds to just rebuild the team. They got clop, they got, you know, Solo money already had for men over, they just completely just rebuilt the Lipool side. Maybe that's what livesing my knee obviously, is tons of rooms around nal leaving to live for actually, yeah, or just out of lipzig. So maybe it's just that you know, that that one transfer, that one opportunity to use a lot of cash just to you know, just fix up a few KRE he's in the line up and at least that might just help them their push to the top of them as they yeah, I definitely think the next couple transfer windows is going to define Lipzig as a club, because this is where kind of like Leicester City almost, like after they established themselves as like the seventh best team by well, this year better than that. But after they had that great year, they were really smart in terms of like not hanging on to their players. They flip them for good. Sums like obviously can't take when for heaps. They even go rid of like drink water for quite a bit. HMM. So I definitely think the next couple transfer markets, will transfer windows, will define what Lipsig becomes a club, because they seem to be very good at scouting, like the next big things. But it's a different story whether they can flip them for heaps of profit and then replace them a lot cheaper, and then they can like, as you were saying, with Continia, like they can reinvest in every area of the pitch and just overall get better, because I think there's rumors that like upamcano could go for like almost up to like seventy mill, and then Werner, I don't think he's going to go for much because I think he has a really low release clause of something like thirty mill, but that's still it's substantial fee. So if you sell those two, who have been heavily room and for ages, then you got a hundred mill, and most of Leipzig signings are less than ten meals. So you can sprinkle that like a hundred mill around the the park. All of a sudden you can take the next step and challenge buy, and so I definitely think they get. The next few transfer windows can go one of two ways. For Leipzig. They can either like get greedy, almost in it's try and hang onto all their players, which I think will see them just become a mid table team eventually, or they can be smart with like their sales and stuff and try and make build enough revenue to challenge by an endormant just as you're mentioning Liverpool. Don't to make it all about Liverpool, but do you want Liverpool to sign verner? Oh, as a little fan, you know, as Loup Fan, this is your dream eleven and we've got a moment. Obviously, count three of sign of. Sorry, Armne a for me now, and seller, you just you know, you don't. You've got all your players on your on your board. You don't you want to. You're happy to move around the Magnus. You don'tant to take any off. Yeah, you want to keep the structure, you want to keep everything. So, yeah, I didn't get it. How it fits, if I'm honest. Yeah, and then hearing rumors about a diamond triori as well being on the entiget I just thinking, you know, if I don't both don't fix it. Why we? I mean obviously you want to make a big presence in the transfer market. Look for always been a big presence in the transfer market and one of these set your dominance. But I don't know, I just I mean what we've what we've I record this years has been beyond belief. I think if you can afford to keep it the way it is, I don't say why you don't. I'm obviously have been. Isn't so the incredible...

...player. He is often hit and miss at times and I just I don't know how we go in the Premier League, to be honest. Yeah, I'd rather we sign habitts, to be honest. Yeah, I think habits as address a bit more of a need. Yeah, just because, as you said, we don't really need anything particular because, like for me, no plays up top and half the time salad just places a center forward anyway. So I don't think we need strictly a center forward like Ferner, not that he is great playering. Could probably play on wings and stuff, but I think haps it's a lot more versatile, like we could play him as an attacking midfield if we needed. He also would add a bit of height, which sometimes we do like given like Marne Seller, and for me no, or pretty small. Yeah, and also he's so young. He's only twenty. It would be hard to like make a loss on him. Kind of. Yeah. So even if you get him for two years, he doesn't do much. He's kind of a bench player. Can't really see how you wouldn't sell them on for like what you paid for him. So, yeah, maybe there's no real going wrong with habits, if I'm honest, but like can't say I would complain with fern either. Yeah, exactly. But yeah, as you were saying, if it's not broke, like don't really need know why I need to fix it. Next match we got munching Glab back versus frankfurts. So this is an absolute flogging. I watched the hearts of this and watch it live, but wing Glab back that just dominant. They scored two goals in the first six minutes. The only time the game is actually interesting was like the last half hour. Frankfurt kind of came back into it, but yeah, frank munching Glab back would just really impressive Alis some player who is like the striker in quite a few matches actually is really impressed me. So I definitely think he could be one who's transfer market value saws after this like period of basically the headlights. Now that there's no leagues on and stuff. Everyone's kind of watching the Buddhist lagua. So I definitely think he could maybe go somewhere. But I don't know what's actually going to happen with the transfer market because there's going to be like genuinely a couple weeks between the seasons, so I feel like there might be a lot less transfers than normal, like teams might just try and stick with what they've got. Yeah, and watching new castle buying out the whole complete yeah, they'll be interesting. What goes on there? Yeah, Frankfurt, I do not know what's happened there. They've there in fourteen. They're only two points from the drop zone. They've lost too and drawn to since resumption. But last year, I don't know if you remember, they had Luka Yovich, aunt, a rabbits Sebastian Holler and they sold all three for about a combined like a hundred and twenty mill or something, and they've obviously just not made smart decisions with that money because they're or a genuine chance of being relegated. So I don't know what's going on there. Yeah, Um, okay, start. There is they're letting goal scories. There is their center back. Is IT INTER AGA? Yeah, he's very after that game where he scored two against fine, which obviously, yeah, and he's good on goal came as well. So and he's so essentially scored a hat trick. Yeah, yeah, himself. Yeah, I think costage is being a good play for them this year. But yeah, he's like that. Only one. Yeah, apart from that, I ondressals been okay for me. Scored in that game against once, you Clarbuck, but you know, I bast as up front season. Other that's weird signing. Yeah, I know why you'd signed sign...

...from the Portuguese league WHO's like thirty. Yeah, bizarre. There, bizarre signing for them. Yeah. So that's pretty much all I've got on that match. So next we had buying up against you union Berlin. I think a lotch the hearts of this, but it was quite a few weeks ago. I don't remember too much of it. It was too nil to buy. And did you watch this game? I watched a little bit. I didn't see the second goal. I saw the first. Obviously land as key, but yeah, it was just, you know, it's just the typical bond forms just essentially did what lives it can't do. Put away the yeah, away the bad teams. That I shouldn't it could have been three. Obviously had of our goals. It was ruled offside early on, but there was parently put them up halftime and just from there on in, I don't need union really looks like they're going to come back in it. But yeah, it was just it was just showing what they good at buying. They'll win very comfortable. Doesn't have to be a smashing like Dorman sometimes due to the bad teams, you know, not for five meal. Can just be a very casual to now when they will dominate possession. Maybe. I think they had sixty four percent possession that game, you know, more than double unions passes. So yeah, I was just very comfortable one from them. Nay, yeah, it was just to me exactly what Livesi can't do and it's just probably shows gives them some to aim for, Lipsie, as to what you should be doing as a top of the table team in this leaguer. Yeah, bye. Like they're so interesting to watch because they got such good players, but they're so clinical it's almost boring at times. Like yeah, in a game like this, I don't know if there's another team in world football where I actually have absolutely no doubt they would win like all the other I guess pisg probably would win easy gaps in their league like this be even like Bass and real, there's always a small chance that a small Spanish team will upset them. But by and they just never really seemed to miss a beat. Like there's just such a complete team. One thing that I have to just generally notice, I think I'm going to touch on a bit later, but I think by and having set unit for a long time as definitely helped out, and especially in this time where they've kind of come back with not much training under the belt, I think the fact that they've most of their teams played with each other for for five years really helps. Compared to like a dormant or a Leipzig, which have a lot of new parts to their team. Yeah, because you got like Alfonso Davies and stuff. There's a few new players, but Levend Aski, Mola Alaba, bowting, noia even kimmick nowadays, like they've been there for ages. So, HMM, each year they just roll on, get get another win. It's too easy. So next match we had vertebraem in versus Levi Cousen. Actually didn't catch this one either. Lever cousin one hundred and forty one and Verda is in the relegation zone. So seems like a pretty standard match. If I'm honest, I think habitscored a few olds. I'm just getting up. Yeah, yeah, but it's got to first time. All doing three minutes of each other, also five minutes of each other. Yeah, he just showed exactly why he's wild going to become all the world best. Yeah, just carry them really. Yeah, Moosa Dr Be had to assist Demi by, who really impressed me the other night when I watched love Acoust and he had an assistant a goal and Bella marvious set up his girl. Bella Rabbi and Demo by look the exact same, the same skin tone, they were wearing...

...like both fluro boots, similar haircuts, both have facial hair and their first names the like, one letter apart. So not sure it's not on on that. That's also the same for to Bin Plays Bender and bender. They both look exactly the same. Wait, do you mean and and last bender? HMM, Oh, yeah, they're twins, though, so that makes me work it. It does make me more sense, but I remember just always saying on fatways try by one and twin have to look the same. So yeah, they are frequently similar and I'll be honest, I don't know the difference. I think laws is a right back and spas and the back s a mid, but cannot. Yeah, so easy win for Lever Custin. They got in a bit of a roll, but we'll touch on that later. But that's stunted this morning. There they sit in fifth, so they're kind of in a battle with watching Glab back for forth. I don't think they'll catch Leipzig, but never know. It's pretty tight up there. Next we had watching club back versus leave Acoustin. So I watch this match. It was at the same time as Dormand Wolfsberg, so I don't know which one you watched. I watched dormant. Yeah, yeah, so I'll chat about my match then you can chat out your match. So watching club back vest Levicusten, it was actually really entertaining match. If I'm honest, love acousting came out on top one. Habits scored two goals, including a penalty, but for me, have its probably got the headlines, given the fact that he had scored two in the last game and then two in this one, and he's only like twenty or whatever. But Demi by and are Anguis were more impressive to me. Like ha its didn't really actually have much impact on the match, apart from when he scored, where Demi by like setting up everything. He probably could have had a hat trick, because there was like someone tried to do a sweaty goal and he like he like hit over the crossbar and other one where you like was like a yard out and he just kicked it straight into the keeper as opposed to just slotting it sideways, which was a bit weird. But yeah, in the first half. The game changed in the second half, but first half Levicuston could have had five or six, to be honest, like they were so dominant. I was actually shocked because I thought watching Glab back with a better team and this. But, as I said, the second half completely changed. munching. Glab back really came out of the sheds firing. I'm trying to find the expected goals for this one. It had lever cooust and scoring three for seven and waunching Blab back scoring two point two seven. So they're they're suggesting they should have been like six goals in it. So shows how a tacking it was. munching glove back to goal was bloody good, though. Alison player to this like chipped through board to Marcus Tram and he just vollowed at home and it was just rapid and there was this hectic bit play. So that goal happened and then in like the next two minutes there were two penalty shouts at opposite ends the field and leave Acouston's was given, which results in habits putting it away. And then so that made it to one. Yeah, to one, and then Levercuston's third came from a great bender header. Not even sure which one it was. I think it was ben but as a really good header, and leave Acoust and leap frogged munching Glab back. But that changed this morning. So yes, this game is kind of been made redundant. So that's really good to see. But it's really interesting match. Two teams in the top five going at it was and it lift up to...

...the hype, as we mentioned. I think we talked about this off air after they fell podcast. But it's been so high scoring. Like yeah, I think I've watched three or four matches with four goals in it, or more like. There's not been too many boring matches. Like I've seen some people saying on twitter that there's been hips blowouts and it's been boring to watch and that, to be fair, that has been quite a lot of onesided score lines, but I don't think I've watched any matches where, like one team hasn't had any any chances in the other teams just had like twenty. Yeah, I wouldn't say it's been boring at all, to be honest. But Yeah, how is Dorman Fulsberg? Well, unfortunate, I have to contribute you. This was the one match that there was just really no chances for Wolfsburg. Well, like there was, but they just they say good, they only had the one shot of target. But it was a was a bit of an average game, bit a boring game, dormant. Obviously came away to to now the winners square go on the thirty two and he Cami finished it in the seventy eight. But yeah, there's the the presence of Wolsberg's attack just didn't really seem there. They've got their course and Giin check, who I just look like absolute monster. Stable April wore. They got map, isn't he? Yeah, he's nearly two. made it. I think he's got eight headers last season or something. Yeah, it was very clear what attactic was. They played out why. I tried to get you know, tried to cross it in, but yeah, the the defensive dorm was just too strong and they didn't play a very attacking style. Dormant. Think that they're performanceing at Shalka was a lot more exciting, a lot more good to watch this one. Dorman only, ever, only had six shots for the match. Four of them were off target to the T on Tige of the two goals. You know, Harland didn't have an impact. This came, which you can probably expect from, you know, still a teenager. Yeah, but yeah, they just they did the job, Dorman. Obviously they tend to run the same lineup every game. But yeah, it wasn't an overall ex signing match. It was I came away feeling, you know, bit bit disheartened after saying that performance, because they didn't really live and look that good, dormant. It's not like they just scored two sharp shop played with composure and just making sure it was affected. have any chances they are. They did look at it scrappyr times, even in playing that play style. And that was the match, I think, before they came up against buying. Yeah, yeah, so it was this game and buying and then the two matchups Kay and then the matchup of those two came couple days later, and I remember just coming away from those two matches to see you got buying, are going to kill them. Yeah, which, while they beat them, they didn't kill them. But yeah, it's just it wasn't a it was probably all the Games I've watched. This says, and that's probably the one I'd be happy to not rewatch. But yeah, that's sorry. Might overawin take from it. Yeah. So next we had, as you just mentioned, buying played their second match after the resumption and they beat untracked Frankfurt five to so Frankfort. They don't mind conceding, but they also don't mind it all. Yeah, you watch this one. I did watch this one. I watch it straight after. Yeah, it just look like Bine, we're just going to dominate other think. Yeah, there were three in a lot early in the third and then obviously inter is just just, you know, you could have looked away for one second, come back and you see that all of a sudden it's three to in three minutes. Scored things to add his INTEREGA. But yeah, by just did their...

...usual thing, obviously with their same lineup, similar to tortment. I always roll the same formula. But then, yeah, Davies made it for to and Interega sort of scored a hat trick with scoring an own goal later to our can seal the game for fine. But yeah, it was it was a good game. It was a lot more exciting than the previous one dormans was in, and it just made me think by are going to have the upper hand against Dormans from the get go when they match up against them. Yeah, I can. I can letely forgot about if parisage, like he came up the bench against dumb dormant and I was like wait, what yeah, it took me a couple like times for the commentators to say parisage and I was like, Oh wait, that guy I just competed to buy it. Yeah, yeah, I'm he hasn't been that great, to be honest, in the games I'll seeing him, he's been probably that way. Cans link on the pitch and he's been the you know, one of the couple have been rotated in and Outfaur, surgeon, ibriy and couple of others. Yeah, he's became a bit of a miss for a while. Yeah, this is probably what was you playing or hand into playing until yeah, probably, and he was like a base. So not sure if that was that's move, but probably it's our big club, but I feel like everyone wants to experience like a dominant team at some yeah, soccer career. But yeah, I'm pretty proud of myself here because Sebastian road, he got the assist for both interegger's goals and in the match, Frankfurt's match against watching glab backs. So the match before this I said they were all shit except for a road, and I predicted that road intro Grama boys ste I'm proud of myself. So that was pretty much that for that match. HMM. Then we rolled into Sunday's fixtures, I believe, which was I think Shou Aka played yet and then we don't need to talk about that. That was shit ours from shocker. I'll be lipsick versus mind. So I watched this. This was an absolute lipzig clinic like. It was probably the most apart from live pool win or anything, there's probably the most enjoyable football match of watching ages like. It was just so clinical as everything you think Lepzig should be like. They just you thought after the FRYBURG game they'd maybe get another scrappy drawer win, but yeah, they just came out and pumped them five Neil. It was just good to see. They're so fluid, like they don't have a set formation. There's just blokes running everywhere for balls going everywhere that just pinging one touch passes the yeah, verna scored a hat trick. He was so clinical put away all these chances. Polson's been really impressive in this little period and he's kind of like I have here, is like a Jacko and buller hybrid, because he's like a Mula in the fact that even though he's a center forward, he's not really the guys going to score the most goals in the team. Like he's more likely to set it up for Werner or set it up for Sabitsa or someone else, and he did that here. There was a really he basically set up a sweaty girl. Basically, there was one where he could easily shot and then he just passed it sideways and set up a fairly easy shot for Sabitza and the Jacko, because he's a lot bigger than Moula and he's like more aerial, more of an aerial presence, because you can he's quite good in the air. Yeah, pretty much everyone impressed me or barn and Upamcano made comebacks in the center of Defense, which is important for lepzig. They've got so much depth. Like every player that was coming off the bench. It was like Jesus, he's good, he's good, he's good. Yeah, it genuinely could have been sixtel at halftime and cook in Councu could have had a hat trick. He missed quite...

...a few cities, so it could have been. I think Leipzig beat mines eight mill the first time they played each other, so they could have legit replicated that school. It could easily been like Sixtel at halftime and yeah, just quickly on minds even though were mainly focusing on the good teams. But mines they were actually okay going forward, even though it's five nil. Like I think minds is issue is they're kind of being a bit stubborn and they're just playing like their older guys. Where the blokes, the young kids who came off the bench, they just seemed to be way better at football, to be honest. There's this Liverpool Loney. I don't know his first name but his last names are one year, I think he's done by. Yeah, and he scored a goal in mines is first match and obviously didn't score here because my since score. But he looked the most threatening mines player on the park when he came on, like he had two or three shots. So I definitely think the mindes coach needs to strap on some balls and get the young players in the team to be because they're not really playing for much are I know they're actually freaking in the relegation battle. So but still they're better than the old dudes. So get it, get him in the side. Mate, did you catch any of this match or not? Really, no, I didn't. I'm just looking now. Look like a domination. Ten shots and targets for it was so good to watch. Yeah, it just looks like it just stended lives the game. You know, one week they're be hit, missed the bottom tame o the way, they'll flog them five mill put out. I don't know what's gone up with Lipsig. So this leaves us. Actually, let's touch on this morning's game before we touch on the big one. So this morning three of the top five played. So we had vertebraem and I haven't watched any of the highlights for this, but we've got VERTA versus, watching glad, black, nil or draw. Nothing really to touch on there. And then lever cousin versus Wolfsberg, and Wolfsberg beaten them for one, which is an absolute upset, I have to say. Yeah, I don't really know where this came from. All these matches were actually these two were actually yesterday morning. The next matchup touching on was this morning. Ye, yes, I don't know what went wrong with love accosting there. They looked really good against watching glab back of Wolfsberg looked average at best, like there was a really big gap between fifth and sixth forming and it looked like no one actually really wanted to come sixth, to be honest, because I shower. They all kept losing. So that's a big upset. I don't know who's called Fulsberg's goals, but I saw congratias scored. I saw his head. I went to that halftime. I score it. I saw his header in the forty three from a set pace for yeah, man, they horstin score. That hurts O, Maximilian Arnold, he got to go on to assist. So he looks like the standout, so get around him. Yeah, that great man. Actually know him from FIFA, from honest. So, yeah, I didn't watch those matches, so I don't really have too much to say from honest. But it's morning all be lipzig versus her to Berlin, and on face value this looks shocking. So it was a tool drawer. Leipzig all but ended their little hope of chasing buy and down. But hurt. They've actually, if you just look at the table since resumption, they're actually in second. They've had two wins in a drawer. So they're like above thormand they're above Leipzig. They're even above Leve acousten them. So they're actually probably one of the informed teams of the calm last year. I think going to Christmas they were like second...

...or something, and then I don't know what happened, but they just collapsed. And then they've had a few coaching changes. They got a new coach induring lockdown and they've obviously come out looking like the mold cells. So they are seven points behind sixth position, but I wouldn't write them off shooting up to six because the two all performance against Leipzig. That's very impressive and he unexpected goals. I haven't watched the highlights, so maybe there was a couple lip six screamers, but it was one, point five, seven goals to hurt and only zero, point six, one to Leipzig. So it seems like Lepsick will kind of lucky team in escape with a drawer. Yeah, yeah, so, yeah, to dot the highlights of this on. No, it was a yeah, no, I didn't. I was gonna looking at also my regregions, obviously from the pool. So yeah, I'm so it's good to see him. Get Him playtime and score for them. I'll beyon TEX Gord. He's kind of absolutely missing. Oh yeah, he was the out of property last year. Polish yeah, I can't remember who is he playing for? Before I see Milan. He played for someone and it wasn't as small Italian team him, and then he got Genoa and he was scoring heaps of goals and alarm picked him up and he got off to hot start. I think he's scored to on debut or something, and he just fell off a cliff and now is at hers us, so good to see him on the score sheet. It was a penalty, though, so you'll take it. Yeah, Halstonberg got sent off in the sixty three. I'm not sure what for, but that probably didn't help car like six chances. Halstenberg is a ranger, so he's a fiery man right. So let's move on to the main event. Dorman vess buying, you watch this game live, did you? I did watch this game. Why? Yeah, great play. So what were your thoughts on this? My thoughts about five minutes in a thought. Boys were in free show here. It was so quick. It was just a lot better than, I think, the two games that will look like, the to respected Games each team play leading up to it. There's a lot better than those two. Fine had them. You know, they're really pushing a dormant had on the back foot. They started the dominant earlier. Something what helped. They played, you know high, high pressure and you know, they really push up the field and really forced on to the back foot. But yeah, those first five, ten fifteen minutes it's just really high pays fishots. I remember want a Doorman's chances this. I think it's the true curtain. Ten minutes in. I don't know if you saw its Harland, who was about? It was at the edge of the ourcorner of the box. Noise, you know, rushed out, hit it forward. He said to come back. Harland's actually keep through his legs and then it was just saved by bolting on the line. Yeah, that was it. Shot shot from Harland. If it was, I don't know why he had. He liked there was something that on the right. Yeah, he could have hit that on the right. Try to get a new post. But yeah, easy, said time, obviously, but law. Yeah, yeah, to say, yeah, he was a lot better than burkey and I think that was like pretty clear difference between the two teams. I thought now had lost it a bit, if I'm honest, but obviously still still go the best. Yeah, may twenty seconds in when he just steams out and slide tackles hult. Yeah, I that's just classic noier. Yeah, what you think of the goal? Yeah, it was actually...

...on the said a few times. I needed that for my multier. I needed at least the tough goal. So kimmage was my boy there, lovely clinical chip of burkey. I'm just caught my God, so good he's. He's such a good player. Acumie. Yeah, very underrated. I'm so happy sent him in. Now the star. Oh yeah, yeah, too good for right back, if I'm honest. Yeah, I mean he's gonna be the future. Yeah, they were saying it was burke's fault, but, if I'm honest, no one shooting. No one is shooting from there. Yeah, you don't sayin to the yeah, ship shots from there in that position or yeah, exactly. And he didn't even like a look up, so it didn't even look like he was impressive, though, just made it look so easy. I just could I just I was sisting you. I could never know, I could never do that, never just finish it to that. You know, I could not execute it that well, it is so precise. It was just exactly had to be executed. Perfectly. Obviously that was the only goal score for the match. So neand it turn out to be the winner. Yeah, I don't know if you remember this because I watch the mini match. So just like a condensed replay, basically, but bolting blazantly hambled. I saw this. Holland so boating slipped and fell on the box. Yeah, and Holland stupidly took it on his left. He should have taken any legit would have scored, but you can only left and he shot it. Probably will like wasn't going to beat Newyer, but bold sing. There's absolutely no argument to be had here. He hits him high, buy in the arm, but it's below shoulders. It's a handbull he latantly moves towards the ball. It's on target. For me it's a red card and a penalty, and this completely changes the match, because then Dortman tied up one all and buy and have ten players. So I think buy and definitely got away with something there. And the commentators, I don't know if he's different live, but they hardly even blinked, like they were just like, oh, that's interesting. Yeah, that's moved on. Have you ever, like, have you considered that that has completely changed the match, like it was just entire league, if you think about yeah, genuinely, because, yeah, I'll be honest, it's season over now. They're not catch I think there's six matches left and they are have a seven point lead. So they're not catching them. And I don't think buy enough to play or actually don't know if they have to play anyone decent, but I know Dortman have to play Lepsig in the second last round. So basically no hope, if I'm honest. Hmm much that? Yeah, the only interesting match to come is probab. Like race is probably for fourth because that's Champions League spots. So like lever cust and Lipsig and munching glad backer in a bit of a fight for that one. BYNE have munching Glab back end leve ACUSTOM, but in the current form I don't know if they will even be challenged by them, to be honest. Yeah, Dorban just seemed to do this every year. Like buy and have beaten them in the last they have been them six times in the last seven and except for this one in the league, and except for this one, every single one was by a margin of three or more so. I don't know what it is. I think Dorman panic when they go behind, because in every other match they just basically go ahead early and then they're chilling. We're here. They just seem to be panicking as soon as chimis scored that goal. Like I know the season was on the line, but in the last thirty minutes, like lots of the Dorman players are getting frustrated with each other, like I know Sancho came off the bench and he was like yelling at a couple players a few...

...times when they made mistakes. And I just think Dorman they need to be like almost arrogant to win. Like again, shoucout, they were genuinely cocky, like you could just feel even in the goal celebrations, like you just felt like they thought they were top shit. And it feels like they don't bring this to the buying matches, like buying just seemed to intimidate them a bit. And back to my point about like buy and have us have had basically how to set core in their team for five years or so, whereas Leipzig and Dorman, especially after this lack of training for like a month or two. Dorman's whole team. They're basically have come in the last like two years, because you got like Chan Witzel Brown has our even Harland Sancho's only been playing for two or three years at dormant, like HMM. They're all relatively like new with each other. So I think when they're going gets tough and like, especially in this situation where there hasn't been as much training as they I think chemistry helps a lot, and buy and have that over Lipzig and dormant, who unfortunately cannot hold on to their best players, so they have to keep like reinventing kind of their team. Yeah, yeah, I don't know what it is. They're just a few theories I have, but buying of definitely got something over dormant and Dorman need to fix it if they're ever going to win another title. It's been like seven years, I think, since buying didn't win. Yeah, I thought this could have been the year. This year I thought was going to be really exciting, like I thought so I thought we were going to have Liverpool winning the Prem Dorman or lepsig winning the Bundes lague and maybe into winning the Syria or Lastio, and I was there was going to be one of the more exciting years, but it looks like buying's gonna win. You Ventus, well, we don't know what's going to happen in that league. But yeah, it's just it's just frustrating really, because just want to see a new team win for a change. Yeah, yeah, just to continue on sort of line. Because, yeah, last they just pick, they just seem to pick Dorman and Leipzig's best players or and every other team in the league basically, and they can't stop this from happening. But yeah, well, we're going to say, Oh, yeah, I was. Yeah, it's just that it's just the the chemistry. But I think that's really just what always gives them the edge. Like you said, when that Dorman went, the one down, you know that Sandra coming off and obviously showing is frustration. It just turns in, it just turns out for them. You know, been just eleven players on the pitch. It's no, it's not like a you know, a team of eleven. It is more. It is obviously, but I think buying you can physically see their just connection between their players. You know, you we've all watched them, you know, countless amount of times play together and exactly how they score. Obviously Dorman's are fairly new lineup. I'm obviously going to get them a lot of wins, but just you know, coming if, if there are opportunities are dormant face when they go down in the score on the school board, it does ex always a bit of a weakness in them, obviously not having that complete full chemistry that buy I can show. I think that does become a bit evident en dorman's playing style, especially with a heavy reliance on Harland's up front. When you come up against a tough team and you you start to you start to concede a few goals and...

...your alliance on, you know, and a nineteen year old kid against the top team, one of top tens in the world, isn't going to win you many games when it comes down to it. Sorry, yeah, it's it'll take you at a time, dormant. Well, hopefully it doesn't, but I reckon it'll still take a bit of time until they can really be the top team in Germany and hopefully push bye. Yeah, I'm just looking at the expected goals buy and I only had zero point seven seven expected girls, whereas dormant has zero six to. So definitely does suggest it was very close. So potentially dormant are closing the gap on buying, but this seems always happened with dormant and then they have period where a lot of their players get signed by the clubs and then they've got a restart. So hopefully they can kind of hang onto this crew for a bit. I know Harland can't leave till next so like the middle of two thousand and twenty one, so he has to play the next season. It's in his contract. Definitely think they'll help. However, don't know if the same could be said for Sancho. Hopefully he stays and maybe just thinks like another year with Holland and the rest of the boys will be good fun. He's man you bound. Yeah, definitely hunts. Don't think he can turn back and move back home for probably more money. And if I'm honest, I don't even know if Dorman should reject it, because some of the fees have been throwing around kind of seemed to be irresistible. So it's probably not even the worst move, to be honest, for dormant to reject it, because you never know, Sancho could like touch would but Sancho could come out next season Terri's ACR first match and then he's mark of value halves. So I'm not sure if you want to pass up that opportunity, especially men. You you can always kind of make them pay like twenty mill over, but because it's a man just united. So yeah, yeah, I definitely think if the right offer is that they should probably move him on. But for the rest of the team, I think they should try and keep them. However, another part, I think Kim he's leaving, because I can't remember what his deal is with Madrid. I think it was just a two year loan deal from Real Madrid. So HMM, if he goes and there's Sancho goes, they could almost be in the situation again where they've almost got a rest art. So Ye, kind of getting a bit frustrating. I wouldn't want to be a dormant fan, but yeah, I think lipzig probably have more hope than dormant. If I'm honest, I think dormanor in this never ending cycle of they become contenders and then their best players get picked off and then they've got to do it again. But yeah, we'll see what happens. That's pretty much it. Really thanks for coming on, Roy, no problems, great to be on. Yes, it's good to have you on again, this time for your actual debut. Yes, quote, quite. Yeah. Yes. So, once again, if you do listen to the AFEL predictions podcast, I don't know if there's much of an overlap between the Buddhes League and the AFL audience if I'm honest, but there is one or two people who listen to both. Just forget about the debut stuff of row. You just think. Pretend I'm talking to Braudy only. And Yeah, that that's been episode sixteen to that. Tonight the NRL starts. So I know you're not Nurl Fan, Roy, but Australians Australian sport is back, soon to be the AFL as well, and hopefully basically the rest of the soccer leagues around the world join the Bundes League or and restarting and we get live sport back pretty much. Yeah, so thanks for coming on, thanks for listening. See you guys.
