Bundesliga Preview & UFC 249 Review - Episode 11

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Rhett joins Hamish for a laid-back discussion about the upcoming Bundesliga round and the recent UFC events.

Cheese he settle. Welcome back to episode eleven of the on the ball podcast. Today I'm once again joined by ret Martin. Welcome, thanks many yeah, I'm well, thank you. It's a house. The weather and Tasmania, it's actually nice. Yeah, yeah, it's beautiful you today, clear, releas, freezing, but yeah, blue sky. So I'll cop yeah, today we're going to chat about the upcoming Bundes League weekend of soccer, basically the first big soccer league to come back. There was the k league last weekend, but can't say I'm going to be sitting down watching the K league. So and the Belarusian Premier League has been going the whole time because their president believes that coronavirus has something to do with tractors or something. So yeah, I'm not sure I was going on there. Finally we've got a good league back, and then after that we're going to have a little bit of a chat about UFC two hundred and forty nine that occurred last weekend and also the fight night that happened during the week. So should we just get get straight into the Bundy? Chapman? Yeah, sounds good. What matches are? You came to see, it has to be dormant and showker and then Leipsig Fryburg also the main ones. I'd say firing night. Yeah, it's definitely the most exciting. There's there's like actually three matches all at thirty tonight. I'm being sports well in in the East Coast Australia. They're at thirty. Yeah. So, yeah, as you just mentioned, you got dormant, showker, Leipzig Fryburg and then the other matches Hoffenheim and her to Berlin. But that one's surely not getting the really knowledge. Using that a wild shout dustled or versus Padabon? Oh Yeah, and absolutely think I've actually got some stuff on that, because that's that's a cheeky relegation battle, the dog fight down there. Yeah, if patible and lose out there, pretty much gone. So yeah, there actually, like it's not on TV. So I was going to say it would be probably average to watch. Yeah, you can't watch it anyway. My other watch the Belarus. Maybe check the score after it. Yeah, the sure. But yeah, so dormant shock is probably the biggest game of the round. Yeah, the Riviera Derby. It's the biggest ribberry in German football. It's been a very even ravalry over the history of dormant. Verse Showker Door and have won thirty three showers one and thirty two with thirty drawers. So you've basically got an equal chance of every single result occurring, although you would stink the dormant have been the superior team for the last like decade. Dormant of actually won only one of their last eight meetings. So, although dormant of the heavy favorites tonight, shower car probably shouldn't be slept on. But they're in pretty average form at the moment. They've only scored once in their last three hundred and eighty seven minutes, which is what is that? That's like in between four and five matches or something. Yeah, just just over four matches, and dormant scored ten times in that period. So shawkers attack is not in great form, but you never know, after the break anything could happen. And Shalko currently have the longest streak without a win in the Bundesliga, being seven matches, whereas dormant have one six of their last seven. So pretty contrasting forms for these two teams, but I almost think you can throw form out of yeah, and Intervis. Yeah, it just had a consideration because, a, it's a derby and be it's been over two months since the last time these teams played match. So like there's obviously going to be a bit of rust and stuff like that. So I don't actually think you have to worry too much about the form lines. In terms of the table, dormant is sitting in the second and I think they're four points behind. Buying and shocker are six, but they are in the Buddhess league table there's like fifteen point difference between fifth or sixth or something. So showers like the leaders of the second pack. So they're quite a long way off. So it's probably not as tight as that ladder suggests. The issue with Showka is they've their defenses are...

...are they've had like a similar goals against as dormant, but Dorman have scored thirty five more than them, which is over like one a game more. So that's just well, I I guess you can more put that down to Dorman just having a ridiculous attack, but shocker also struggling. I was looking at the old expected points start. One of their favorites, showker, were positioned at ten so they're they're probably even lucky to be in sixth. So I'm like, I know I'm paper this. Actually, when you look into it doesn't seen that close but, as we were just saying, it's a derby shower cut performing these Derby's and I think it's definitely worth the watch some of the players I've highlighted. There's a cent amid twenty three years old. Could this is from showker because I didn't do dorn players because I didn't really know the shocker players that I was wanted to look out for. So yeah, there's a guy called sue at Serda. He's twenty three years old. He plays in the midfield. He is made a couple of appearances for Germany in the last twelve months. This year he's won four men of the matches. He's average for tackles and interceptions a game. Seven goals in seventeen matches. The average is about two shots a game, which is pretty silly from midfield, just under a key pass the match. Almost three JIPP dribbles a match and it's his fift year in the buddness league. But this is really I was looking he starts for the other seasons and yeah, I'm not sure what's happened this year, but he's just become a beast. Yeah, to other players I've got highlighted is Jean Claire to Tittybo. He's a twenty, twenty year old center back. He's on loan from Barcelona, who signed them at Christmas in two thousand and nineteen. So that kind of just suggests the caliber of player he is if he's a center back getting picked up by Basster at twenty years old. He's only made a couple of appearances for Shower Cup, but he's average four point two tackles and interceptions and four point two clearances. So keep an eye on that big dog trying to stop Harland and Sancho and the likes. Good. And finally, there's a mean Harrot who's a twenty two year old attacking midfielder. He will either play on the left edge or through the center. He's had ten goal involvements of twenty three three men of the matches, almost to key passes a game. So three fairly good young players to watch out for if you are going to watch this dormant shocker match. Yeah, do you have anything else on this? Yeah, I was looking at it mean hurry as well. I remember him being here. Is exploded at the start of the season. He's been playing them, playing for them for a couple of seasons and has been less than less than average, I'd say. So this year he exploded this STARV. I think he won the Bundesliga play with the month of my faith knowledge says me correctly. In the second of them, I'll be honest, I've ever heard of him. Yeah, I know this is the first year I've heard of him, but yeah, he's he's a pretty smart dribbler, likes to carry the ball forward. I think he causes some teams problems as he goes past players. So if you can get back to some of the form showed at a start of year, he might he might trouble. Dormant. Yeah, I'm actually keen to see CERDA and Harrod because, like Shauker in sixth and I'll be honest, I was looking at their team. I don't know too many of them. Yeah, and so those three players are kind of like the young keys to their side having success. So I'll be interested to see Dorman. I was looking at their injury list. It's actually quite substantial. From honest they've got em Ray Chan Zaga, Doo witsil Royce and Marco Schultz. Have they has? Has Chain even played a game for them since he signed? What did he signed from? And I think he played a couple because I read an article saying like Chen cracked it apparently once in the dressing room, saying like they need a toughen up, and then they went on like a formatch streak of conceding only one goal something. They must have played a couple games. But yeah, I don't think you played too much, because I don't really know how you can get into that team. Estly, I don't know who the fuck chat things. He is honestly right. Yeah, he's played a big whole that group of players out. But I was looking at the expected starting eleven and it's still beast in every single position. So if I think shocker, shocker, at six dolls, though, and the drawers at four dolls fifty. So in terms of actual betting, I'll I'd say that's value. Yeah, like I definitely say dormant are most likely to win, but probably shouldn't bear that white odds, I'd say. Yeah, I remember watching the Neil Neil with their first meeting. I think it might have been at your place actually, and it was like an extremely stale game. But Shaker did have the best chances. They have a young striker and he...

...missed like one on once. I'm sure obvious name, but yeah, so, and I'm I think it's going to be interesting to see how the lack of fans affects each team, especially in a topy like this. Yeah, well, I think it's endormant and they rely like heavily on yeah, exactly, Yellow Wall, whatever they call that. So yeah, I think it'll be my he might actually play a big part. And actually, I'm notty nine percent sure this occurred, but could just be making it up, but I'm pretty sure last year Dorman will like still in reach of buy and like they were. They were only a couple points behind or something, and it's I'm pretty sure they played shower cut and shock beaten like three one or something and completely ruin their chances. So shock kind of have a knack for just fucking things up for dormant so I'm sure shocker players will take a bit of pride in trying to get one over their rivals, I think. So. I'm very keen to watch that match? Yeah, I think. Yeah, or you think that's going to be the one I have to watch, if I'm honest? Yeah, I just love you two classic teams really. Yeah, I just love watching Santos. I think he's the key, even though highland's been obviously amazing. I think the stats that Sancho has it just stupid. Fourteen goals, fifteen assists in eighteen hundred minutes. To compare, everyone talks about how could has had was last season here he contributed sixteen goals and fifteen assists, so one extra, two extra goals in Onezero one hundred extra minutes last season and people talking about how could he was last season. So just thinking about him being what is he like? Twenty, twenty one years old? It's I'm very keen to watch dormant play, to be honest. There's quite a few of them I've only watched once or like I've never watched howler and play live. Yeah, so very excited to see how they go because obviously in highlights they like all seem crazy good. Yeah, so I'm keen to see them play for the full ninety minutes. Anything else on that match, Bay or should we move into Leipzig Fryburg? Yeah, I think we should. All right. So, Leipzig Fryburg. It's another it's a similar kind of it's a if you just look at it from the outside, it's a similar kind of match. It's third versus eight. The LIPSIG in third. However, once again, Fryburg actually have the wood over Leipzig. They have won three if their last four matches against them. They are, I think, bones beaten Leipzig four times and then Fryburg and dormant are the only other teams to have been them more than twice. So I don't know what it is about it, but they've just got some insane knack of beating this Leipzig team. Leipzig were also bit out of form before the break. They only won ten points at six matches. They've kind of had a bit of issues with converting drawers into wins this season. I think they've had like fourteen wins and ten draws or something. Yeah, age ade draws only have three losses. Yeah, so that's probably the difference between them and buying. But that's don't actually starts on that. But yeah, they which is surprising because when you think of Leipzig in an arglesman side. You just think of like attacking goal scoring. You don't really think of them struggling to break the deadlock and stuff. However, Fryberg only one seven points in those six matches as well, so neither team was really in the hottest of form. If you look at expected points, Leipzig should be in second, so you can't say they're fluking this year or anything, and Fryberg should be twelve. So you definitely could say that for Friberg, that they've had a few lucky escapes or and stuff like that, or scored a few want to strikes or so. Yeah, Friberg of paying nine dollars fifty three for three points. In the drawers at five dollars fifty. So I'm not saying go throw a house on it, but I actually don't mind that, especially the draw five dollars fifty. I actually don't mind that at all. Yeah, if you chuck and if you're checking a dollar on the drawer for both these matches, feel like there's a chance, there's a solid chance one of them comes off and you're walking away with profit. But RUPAMAKANO and forsberger both out for lipsig bit shattering. Yeah, my Kinda seems like he's always out to be honest. Yeah, that's actually true. But yeah, so it doesn't really matter though, because they're back through still beasts. I think it's Halston Berg, costs costman and I think Mikila's predicted to start in the center time. Yeah, I was trying to find similar to what I did for the last match. I was trying to find some key players from FRYBURG. But I'll be honest,...

...man, absolutely average. They're all average. They're all like twenty eight or older. All the like center back. So I'm not really that interest in many of them. I just highlight of one bloke, really Robin. I don't know if it's cosh or I don't know if it's cash or cock good. Apparently he was heavily linked to Leipzig in January and he still is, apparently, and there's strong chance to go to them in the next transfer window. He plays in the back three, but he can play in the midfield. He played he made his debut for Germany in the last twelve months. He's only twenty three years old. Average three point five clearances. So that's like the only thing I could find that was half interesting about Fryburg. So yeah, who knows how they're in eighth position, but fair play to them. Yeah, they must like their their system muscle line up well against Liptis, like fasts counter attacking side, because because of the record that they have in the last three to four matches, including that to one win earlier season. So yeah, they must be very solidly defensively set up. Because yes on WHO's scored their highest rated? They like top five highest rated players were all center backs. So the coach must be well, who's that team last year? Gets have a they were like Boris your boys. Yeah, so that must be a bit of a situation. Farther which which are livesick players you came to watch? Well, obviously one is like whoever I was talking about, but I think sabots are have been more of a breakout play of the season. He's got eight goals and five assists and he's got some screams in those eight goals, as well as a couple in the Champions League. I think he's just raised his level so that he's just contributing more to at heights made himself more of a integral member. See seeings our force bags out. I think he's trying trying to fill that role that force bag left, the creative role, and I think also in Quincu has been incredible seeing so he's just moved from PSG. Yeah, I think PSG led a good one. Led a good one. Guard don't think he's online. Is He? Don't know, I don't think so. He's got four goals and twelve assists, which is insane. I think he plays in midfield, off one of the wings. Yeah, he's not online. Yeah, that's it. That it's a good signing. That's zero point seven for SIS pat, which is stilliness. Yeah, yeah, pretty came to just watch the whole time hit before, honest. Yeah, may on who scored. You know how those like the rating. Yeah, yeah, a whole Leipzig starting eleven had a higher rating than the best for a bag. They were all like over seven, which is actually like pretty good. And for who scored. Yeah, yeah, it's similar to you, sabits are really can't see him, like he was always kind of decent and then this year I don't know what's happened. He's become a beast. Yeah, I don't even. I don't even know when Folsberg's fit. Like, does he even get into the team? Because, as you said in Concuon bitsa seemed to be doing his creative role even better than he can. So yeah, and then also kind of came to watch ferner because, yeah, who do they play in the Champis League? Was Chelsea or Tom or something made might have being totena. Names totally was Tottenham, and Bernard didn't really do much, if I'm honest. So yeah, kind of came to watch him play. Again, I'm kind of just excited for this all because, like, yeah, watching mini matches and stuff of the budness Lagua, but it's not like watching the full match. Yeah, because everyone just seems like it's just harder to get a general gist of how good a player is until you watch the ninety. So yeah, like nothing on me mini matches, but came to see some of these guys play for the whole Niney as we mentioned a bit before, another good game at this time. Solid. It's not on TV, however, is for tuna dustle dare, first part of born relegation battle, sixteen, Verse Eighteen. So don't watch it. Maybe just checked score now. The final match I had down here. There's a Sunday match. It's at thirty again, I think, on being sports and so if you wanted to watch that, players to look out for? You've got former German international Jonas Hector playing...

...for cone Mark Ooth, who is being a shit. Formed for two years, came online to cone Cologne or cone Kim and then he just pumped out eight goal involvements and seven matches. Takes over four shots of game, three key passes. So probably look out for some doping there. But it seems a bit seems a bit fish that. They've got a center back on loan from QPR five tackles and interceptions a game, seven clearancy game. So I think. I definitely don't think. And then for Mines, they have the fourth top goal scorer in the League and he is not even really our out strike. It's kind of a center forward. So twenty three, twelve goals and twenty three matches and he is only behind Sancho Werner Levandowski in that starts. So there. What's his name? Robin case, and haven't even heard any. Yeah, neither any. Only takes two point five shots a match, so he obviously is just a bit of a wizard. That's that's all. I've got for the Bundy. Is there anything else you want to talk about? It's just right. I've just been looking at the like the Games. How many games to they have left? It's not that many. Rights like six, I think. Yeah, Mby's six. Yeah, I'm not sure if they're shortening it or anything, but I pay thirty four and I think yeah, I think might be like a yeah. So I've looked and buy and have Dortman munching clad back and lave goosing number way home, whereas d dormant. I Buying Leipzig, shall cut and Wolfsberg, which I don't know. I think for a dormant or Leipsig to come out on top again, have to win, I'd say all of their games. They beetrow one because they're five points, five points behind. Yah. Know, you got to win every game or reckon betfair not sponsoring the podcast. Eighty percent for buying to win, thirteen percent dormant and I think eight percent or seven percent lipsix. So yeah, no money is being checked on munching got back, I don't think. At the month, to be honest, though, I don't think. Wait, what was the difference between dormant lipsig there like five percent Senergy, fives going to say, yeah, it's only one point, so shouldn't be to be have a difference. But yeah, as you said, I reckon pretty much got to win every game. Yes, buy and we come back from the break very rusty, and I think they change the rule. You can have five subs. That true, or is that just something out of it? Wouldn't be surprising because they have probably not been able to train until like two weeks ago or something. Yeah, you never know, like the buying plays being that arrogant, might have just just chucked on the pounds during Corona. Yeah, it's no training whatsoever. Yeah, it's just everyone except for love and dusk. He's just beefed up and it's like yes, school brother, that's just remind gretting to the boys. Yeah, you are allowed five substitutions. That's actually interesting. Yeah, which is going to be a different team in the second half? Yeah, well, I'm not really sure how that'll affect the games. Yeah, I think maybe buy and have a strong the strongest bench, but maybe suits. Yeah, as you're saying, the better teams, like in these matchups doormen and Leipzig, because I don't think Shakir or Frybak could be having elite players come off the bench like those two. So yeah, for sure. All right. Should we have a little bit of a chat about the UFC? Yes, let's go it. All right. So I'll disclose. I'm not like a UFC die hard. I want. I watch a little bit here or they're kind of follow the championship bouts and stuff, but I'm kind of just I just love the format of the UFC in terms of like and same as boxing. I like, I love the rankings. Yeah, love, like the match making. Yeah, just like the one B one side of it. Yeah, but when it comes to the actual fighting, there is quite a few times whe I've got to look away. But yeah, now I definitely see the appeal. So UFC two hundred forty nine very is a very good what are they called? An event or a show? Like what do they call? UFC Two forty nine is an event. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's pretty like high caliber event. There was eight fights that featured a ranked fighter, which is pretty rare. Yeah, should we just start with the main event, mate? Yeah, I think so. Yet. So he had Tony Ferguson versus Justin Gate. She in the lightweight division, which is probably the best division in the FFC at the moment. There's like five. Yeah, and I was looking and I'm pretty sure like outside the top ten,...

...pound for pound, the next for all like lightweight. So yeah, there it's probably the strongest. I don't know what it is. I think I prefer. I don't like heavyweight UFC. Yeah, it's harder to see the like the technique because they just yeah, but boxing I don't think I've ever watched anything other than heavyweight. So yeah, I don't know what it is, but yeah, for me like yeah, light, even light heavyweight can that times be a bit average. But like except on Jones, yeah, that division. So Yeah, who knows? But yeah, so ferguson came in as the interim champ and the number one rank after fights, with Kubi falling through like four times, and gate chew was coming in at number for Furston hadn't lost since May two thousand and twelve and he'd beaten Anthony Pettison Donald S Erroni in his past two fights, so he's in pretty, Pretty Handy Nick with the BAT. Gay Chew was coming off three wins, including last one against also Donald Serrony. So yeah, sorry, he's been complent a bit. Sir An, he's the boxing Yack of the USA. It's got four losses in a right. It's gone. It's he was turning up, sir respect. Yeah. So gaiche one by Tko through punches in the fifth round. There was only a minute and twenty seconds left. So yeah, I think and almost got there, which would have been like a genuine Zombie effort. He was at WHO's out on his feet, though, like he was putting his hand up late. It looked like he was Hisalian to stop. Yeah, that actually had it was quite a bit. Yeah, it's kind of Shit. It's kind of like what they're not out, but it's so it's like the referee can't stop it, but at the same time you always like surely the reft is just like but the problem is because they're so good, there's like a two percent chance that they just throw a right and it lands. So like you can't really deny the move of that chance, which kind of sucks, but so big, like risk bess for award kind of thing, like the risk of the athlete, and then like the chance that they're actually going to win. Yeah, exactly. It was the fight of the night. Very fittingly, it's very good fight. Yeah, gate, she also one performance of the night and this continues. Gate she streak of winning one of these two awards and every single one of his UFC fights. So it's like eight in a row. He's either one performance of the night or fight of the night. So thinks seven phrasy, seven fights, nine bonuses, four hundred and fifty thousand dollars worth of bonuses. It's just the chicky house and I had down here. It had a how much they earned on the wikipedia page, which is quite weird. I don't think we've ever seen that before. But yeah, Ferguson came away with five hundred K and Justin only one k. So it's kind of interesting. I think it's because of losing. They have their contetraser and champ and stuff. Yeah, they have their contract set like before, feel like a certain amount of fights. They get paid based on that contract plus. Yeah, if it's the main event they get pay per view money, I think on time. So they probably up there. That makes dance. That doesn't make yeah, those figures are, of you, weird, like yeah, some random except great hardy, who is the first, first main card fight, he opponent and Twelvezero to get his face, not to that's so we're talking to get like the median wage. That blokes has to fight like six times a year and like, I don't think he's going to be fighting on main cards often because you didn't even have a wikipedia page. And then another one. This former heavyweight champion was like in the prelimbs. So I think you should now. Yeah, I love ski or something. He earned like three fifty k. So yeah, yeah, maybe if you're a former Champi you like get guaranteed money or something. Yeah, yes, his contract must have he's just fighting out the last few fights and he's come. Yeah, he's just like Gachi, won the intimate championship and stole Ferguson's number one ranking, while focus and dropped a number two. Yeah, as I was saying before, it's probably the most interesting division as there's like five top guys. So over the summer it's going to be interesting to see what happens while they're summer because there's likely to be two fights and someone's going to be left out. So apparently could be told Dana white that he's happy to face gate in September. Yeah, so that looks likely to happen, as Dana White confirmed that in the post press, post fight press conference on Wednesday night. So, yeah, I don't know what the other match will be. Dana, why is not too keen on Tony Fergus and fighting for a while? Yeah, he can't. Just looked a bit out of it on the Saturday. I think he broke his orbital bone, which is the one like your eye socket, basically. Yeah, he's. Yeah, so that is that while and that's the...

...one that like makes your head like disfigured or something. I don't know, head looks Pretty Lady Joanna. Yeah, that's yeah, that's kind of bores. That was different. That was because she had blood build up in her forehead and it's seat down into her cheeks. So like her bone might not have been broken, but it might have been as well. Yeah, okay, so that leads a fire between dust and poor re a and Connor McGregor. Yeah, I can see that, but I also I don't know if Connor McGregor wants to fight, like he doesn't think, yeah, or as a good enough I fight. So he might just fight D has for more money, like that's also an option. But like, I feel like DAS is kind of falling off a cliff. He's not as good. Yea. Yeah, I'm not sure, because connor was saying on twitter that he just wants to like kind of just quickly disposed this division. I don't really said and I don't just go up to the next division, which is it? Well, to way out now get so confused to turn the body. Yeah, it's that's growth away. Yeah, I think you'd get killed by like most of the guys are well toweight, like the welchway. Guys seem like extremely talented and right, it's muzzle it all in Welt. Wait, yes, he even the next time. Yeah, that's it dolls silly right now. Yeah. Well, yeah, so the I don't know what's going to happen with McGregor. He kind of called out Gai Che, but I don't see any way that the could be Gate Che fight doesn't happen. Yeah, and I think I would is wait for it. And yes, I'm not sure what connors to going to do, unless he just waits for the winner and poor a and fercus and fight or something. I'm yeah, I'm really unsure. Ill, as you said, you could fight DAS. I feel like he has to fight. He can't wait. So Lo, who? He's been out for quite a while. Yes, I think you'll fight sooner rather than later and then be ready for that fight with Gaggio. Could be. Yeah, and like, although you don't want a long fight, ever, but he probably wants the more time in the ring given, yeah, the fact that he'd probably given the fact that he's like comeback. Fight was very short. So, yeah, probably wouldn't want to be rolling into a Kabit or gate she fight with like what was it like a minute or less under the bell? Yeah, a couple of seconds. But sorry, by the way, I actually froth the day or like press conference. Yeah, now he's funny as fine here, like the way he just is so open about everything. Can you compare him to go mcglocklin, like you, my Golosin the biggest titles of a MEDEMU wife were most others, like CEO's of s water. Really, yeah, yeah, so I don't. It's just so cool. Like I guess it's fitting for you, FC to have like a pretty basically a lark and yeah, see, Ye, but yeah, right. So that was it for the main event, pretty late fight whatever. What did you think about it when you watched it? Like any special notes you want to this spectacle was pretty insane, like being able to hear the gates. You the crack of his like fist on his face was it was it was like lock, he's sickening. But yes, yeah, it there's not nothing coppensed to having like the crowd. They're like celebrate the victory and the knock out whatever, but it was just it was a different spectacle that I just didn't still provide him like something for the audience. Yeah, they did. You hear that? They could hear the commentators. Yeah, that was taking one of the bloke's Harty was like taking advice from DC. Yeah, it's pretty sad. Yeah, and this other guy, Calvin cattile thing, he was in another main card fight. He was saying, like when the commentators got around one of his hits, he would like brace for the other like to come back in stronger, because he would like, he was thinking, he would want to like shut them up, just another one of his own. So as soon as like the commentators would get up and about, he would like be just waiting for the other his opponent to strike. That's a pretty good adjustment to make like mid fight when you're getting absolutely pounded. Yeah, it's pretty impressive. So the it was a a comate event or just the second last match. This is the same way. It's kind of a gag. How the lighter divisions, just like at Delhi? Yeah, I think just they just haven't. None of the people who just caught on. Yeah, like it's kind of like this match realistically, on paper, should be a main event. Yeah, that fact. Actually loves the Hudo, though, even though he doesn't get away as much of a fan base. Yeah, so he is the Bantam weight champion and this was obviously fort and Bantam Weight crus was coming in unranked. He hadn't fought since two thousand and sixteen, where he lost a cody garbrant. He had a few fights canceled in the last in the last couple years due to injuries and...

...stuff. So it was looking like a pretty hard fight to come back to. But in the past I'm pretty sure he's a two time Bantam wait chant. So he's yeah, he's no easy win for so Hudo. So hudo was on a five win win streak, including wins against Demitrius Jarnson and Tj Dillis Shaw, who were both, like, arguably the best fighters in the UFC at the time. So fair to say he's a beast in general. So judo won by Tko via ane. Then punches in the second round, in the last three seconds of the second round. So pretty spicy stuff. Yeah. So, so Hudo defended his title and crews returned to the Bantam weight rankings at only twelve. So hudo retired straight after the fight, which is quite surprised and give it only thirty two. But in the light of divisions where speeds really important, it's kind of fair enough to retire before you get slow. But yeah, apparently he's not guaranteed to be retiring. Yeah, I think it's the equally saying if, if there's more money on offer. Pretty much. Yeah, basically he just wants more money and I think he got paid more than Cage Yang Ferguson. Yeah, thanks, they were saying, and he still like he wants more money, which is in part fair enough because you're probably work. Yeah, found number two. Number two, I think on number one. So I don't know, it's it's I don't think that your see is going to give him much more money, because they're looking at it from the perspective of how much money can he bring in, and I don't think it's as much as he's telling himself. Yeah, well, like, I'm sure they're valuing him correctly because they have all the figures and stuff. So, yeah, exactly, like, I don't know why they would be like undercutting and basically, so cruiz was really unhappy with the stoppage. He was like claiming that he was getting back to his feet when the ref called it, which I did watch the fire the end and like I could see what he meant, but he was getting absolutely laced out by yeah, so I think he has much to complain about every really. Yeah, I think they're. Also the thing he was complaining about was there was only three seconds left from the round he was he was trying to explain my the ref should know how much times there and then the restaurant to tell him, like it's not my job. Don't know how much times that things. And did you see like suggested that the REF smelt of cigarettes. Yeah, yeah, he was like the ref came looking in that. I so, like, was any about that before the fight? Yeah, I don't know work for these guys. Next he said he's wants to fight again and pretty soon. I'm pretty sure he was saying. Yeah, I'm not sure really, what if the judo does actually retire? Not really sure what's what's in it for for the band? Wait, yeah, exactly. I think he is already has too much about it. Cruise is already like a legend of the Bantam went division. Yea, yeah, I think he's got the longest like title reign and all that kind of stuff, and he's had like like at least a three or four knee reconstructions. I'm pretty sure I'm both knees and a couple of shoulder writting. I don't know. I just don't know what's in it for him, to be honest, like yeah, I've got an idea. What else? He's got such a good career lined up from him in a commentary he said maybe Cho good pundit for us. Yeah, like one of the best. I don't know what he's down. Maybe just wants to go out on a wind. Yeah, that's fair enough. He's lost his last two. I think there were is only two losses his last two fights. So all right, so next fight was Francis and Gar new versus shares in your rose and strike, and this is in the heavyweight division, and and Gan, who got performance of the night. He came in at number two. Rosen strike was number six in Ghan, who's had three first round stoppages in a row, and rose and strike was actually coming in undefeated. So people are kind of undershore how this fight was going to go. And then I'm Ghan, who pretty quickly explained to how I was going to go twenty twos by absolutely thrust him. Yeah, fight. I have to admit this was sickening. Yeah, like the way he was like small, just lying against the cage, like Jed Ted said, look dead another way. I actually have to look away. The way like sprinted at him like talking lions. Elihara. I didn't have nightmares, but like I had a couple like day dream visions where I was thinking, like what would I actually do if that actually came running at me in a cage channels, like trying to think could I outpace I'm just in a circle. Yeah, it's pretty scary stuff. Neither of their rankings changed after this. Could kind of just argue is irrelevant. Five, yeah, but maybe the winner of...

...tomorrow's aboutch over him and Harris, who eight and nine. Maybe he'll the winner, will overtake Rosen Strike on my day when they do the rankings. So I don't know. Yeah, and Ghana's come out and said he's getting pretty annoyed with the whole steep a DC thing, and I think most people are. Steep a seems to be just shirking it. Yeah, DC's happy to go. I think DC came in and said August, just like the deadline, and if it's not before August he wants steep a to be stripped, basically. Yeah, yeah, so I just didn't care about steep a DC form longest. I think that's just time for them to both re high, like I think they did. Their rivalries more important than anywhere else. I was like, I don't think anyone actually gives a fuck about their rival. Yeah, can't say I've ever watched a single one of their fights. I would much rather see DC versus Jones three then, even though even though it's really lost twice, like I just don't step and doesn't. You didn't give him Garny versus John Jones. Yeah, that's it's like true pole off as it's like one guy so technical and like yeah, just well rounded, and then one guy just but I STC DC was bumming and Ghanu saying like he made like seven technical mistakes in the twenty seconds and he was like, but he still absolutely K it was only one mistake and it was letting that man into the cave and Ghana. Yeah, and talking health and safety. There was a video of him backstage before they came out. He was like to standing facing him, just not earn from blinking, just staring the block down, and the guy was like not even looking at him. It was just like looking and talking to his team and stuff, and the caption was like is this a person or a lion hunting? Its praying the while something exactly. It's like I'm actually like, would you rather be locked in the cage with a grizzly or within Ghana? Actually, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. They both. The thing with the goosely is you could get bitten and you're in pain but you're still going. We're like at least in gone. If you get punched, you're out. They are in my head would come straight off my body if you just yeah, that's that. Only worry. Yeah, true. So there's not even much to talk about that. A DC said he's happy to fighting Gharanu if steep a falls through before, like if that doesn't happen till August, but he didn't seem too keen on it. If I'm honesty, said he wants his last fight to be against step A. So, yeah, the other fights that I just quickly wanted to mention Calvin Kattar versus Jeremy Stevens. It's wanted to mention that Jeremy Stevens rolled in at two and a half kegs over the limit. I didn't get how you can do that, like do you weigh yourself in the training camp, like he clearly just didn't even try and cut. Wait, yeah, I didn't get it. And like that Calvin and I'm still lost. He was like fuming and he got like he got knocked out pretty bad. He yeah, but Calvin got like thirty percent of Steven's money. So yeah, which is pretty much all the jokes were on Stevens in the end, and then press conference after in the Post match. Oh Yeah, yeah, I would all everywhere's fuming him. It seems like a good find. Gutar yeah, actually big Fan. And then one of the matches in the prelimbs was Anthony Pettus First Donald Seroni pettus one, but he actually thought Sironi should have won, like he even said in the interview and he was like he made this confused face when the refs anyone. So yeah, it's just like the epitome of an irrelevant fight. Like they're both mates. They both might don't want to hit each other. They like they're never I don't think either of them ever going to fight retitle again. May I actually I've heard of both these blokes. I was like how's this in the prelimbs and I like looked at the rankings and their recent records and stuff and I was like, yeah, they are just goals now. Yeah, so SERONI's lost for on the trot. So I don't know it's gonna Happen with him. O my God. Yeah, I think it's time for him to just pack up. Sure, he's got to maybe go to another company or something. He's just one of those blokes. He's just like demanded you just love stuff. I like that's the only thing he knows. Yeah, but also seems like good blocks. I should stop. Yeah, so that was it for the UFC two hundred and forty nine. There was obviously other fights, but not worth mentioning, especially to someone who doesn't matter much about you, FFC. I not really interested in the other fights. Yeah, UFC fight night Smith version tech sharer was on Wednesday. They'll Thursday for us. Yeah, and though in the match I watched on no, I watched a couple,...

...but only much I was interested in talking about was the headline event, Anthony Sith birth glover text sharer. It was light heavyweight. Anthony Smith rolled in at number four, text share rolder number eight. They both have taken John Jones the distance in the past, so they're both pretty high calibert fighters. Tex sharer had three, what three wins on the trot and Anthony Smith had a bounce back win late last year after his Joan John's John Jones loss. Glover, tech share a defeated Anthony Smith by TKO in the fifth round. And Yeah, this was a weird fight. Like I texted you, I think halfway through the second and I was like this Smith Boyke is a beast, like how is he not ranked one, like challenging for yeah, and then DC was going on about it the whole time. He was like, because there's no crowd, you can hear exactly what your team saying. He just kept going on about like his team needs to calm down. He's they're like telling him to throw too many fight, too many shots, and he's going to tire out. And and he basically predicted it by around three Anthony Smith's absolutely dead. Yeah, and texture I was just solid. Didn't even do that much to get the wind. Really just just waited for Smith to tire out and just slid in. Smith came out for the fifth round and I could not believe it, like the men did hit the met him himself didn't even seem like he wanted to go out. So I can't leave his corner. Let him is actually like some of the worst like coaching over, say to let to let him out in that state, like he these teeth will falling out of his mouth like he was handing to the RAFF. Yeah, so, yeah, he had a broken nose, broken orbital bone as well and massive cut under his eye, like and they just still let him out like those shit. You can't leave it up to the fighter because like obviously they got their pride they're not going to want up. Yeah, but you have to just like I don't even know how the doctor didn't say like Nah, just going well, in the in between the fourth and the fifth, the only thing he said was my teeth are falling out, like I don't think you're in the right frame to win a fight. Yeah, if you're dumb, like basically dead, talking about how your teeth falling out. Yeah, I don't know why they let him. And like Dana White was pretty confused as well. Yeah, that, I think, one of the you know chail son, and he's like one of the usual punty he was just like he was fuguing, like he's like you don't leave your fighter until they can't stand. He leave them until they came win, you know, like and the only time that happened is when they're like with they have an injury or something, or like they're like they're too exhausted, so I can hold up their hands, and he like basically couldn't do that. So they're like why the fuck that is that? o? They keeping him in if there's like zero chance he's going to come up with the wind, like you just leaving in there for a beating and to hold up his bride. Like yeah, the issue is he's like, from his corners point of view, he would throw like one punch every thirty seconds and it would legit land. But what he was copying in between each punch, because it's not worth it, and as soon as he'd get hit once, so like he was basically unconscious on his feet. Yeah, like he had his hands up and then as soon as he'd get hit once, he would just like stumble and his hands would be down by his waist and like, yeah, it was cooked, like it was tough one for the ref as well, because, similar to well, was worse than the Tony Fergus and thing like Smith Look like he hardly knew he was. So, yeah, it's not like it's I don't think it's the rest job. It's the rest to see if he's I still decide for the thing. If it's it's the best. Yeah, that's his teams job. Yeah, definitely. Did you see the conversation they had? No, who between her texture I was on top of Smith and he was just like rights, and then he was like sorry, worry, this is my job. Then Smith was like what any like said again and he's like since is like I don't worry, it is what it is, and then just continue to giving his teeth to the raft. So I do not know what that fight was. Yes, but they always like, oh my God, he handed something to wrap, like he's trying to pay off the rap. Yeah, yeah, I'm setting headpounded in. Yeah, I was looking at the upcoming schedule. It's pretty there's not even many events confirmed. So we'll see how these goes. But the penciled in matches, well, tomorrow's confirmed. The main event. It's not very good. Cart the main event is overream versus Harris, eighth versus ninth and the heavyweight division. So might watch it, but something important. Yeah, thirty of May, tire and Woodlee is supposedly fighting, and June the Seventh Amanda noon as is defending...

...one of her titles. So that's pretty much someone's cocky beating all the spicy stuff. Yeah, the person she's fighting is like not even ranked either. Yeah, I don't know about she's from like another company or something. She's getting a second US thought. Yeah, and maybe she's got some pedigrine. That still I kind of imagine she's gone past that head kick props on. So that's all I've got for the UFC. Yeah, I'm just buddy pumped for the Buddin for it to be yeah, yeah, it's a bit. It's about time. I don't know how it's going to be without the fans, but like fuck it, it's and it's get me go on on. Me Said, they're hopefully there's some good commentators. She I wonder if like my honor, because he's in Australia, so probably not. But Mark Schwartz are like common commentates. Buddhessliga, please, I don't think it will be commentating. Yeah, yeah, so hopefully you've enjoyed listening to this. Oh, I was at Pilch's house yesterday playing tennis. Yeah, John was like, although you never think anyone's listening, I was listening over. I was like gully, Johnny, that's the best, and he was like pumpty got mentioned, even though will bag him out because he thinks like both of them to go. But he was like you would take the mension. I mean anyone who gets shouted out to this if you wish, you yere pretty beast. That up. People, just parents are more supportive than my parents. Thank you. My parents have listened to a minute. My brother watched half in like three days and he's likely you have anyway stuff. Yeah, well, I guess some people just aren't interested in podcast, but fair enough.
