AFL Rounds 2-5 Review Part 1 - Episode 33

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Angus Rowe and Christian return to the show to discuss the month of AFL that has occurred post resumption of the competition. The boys are also joined by special guests Alex Gibson, Tyler Reid and James Curtis who share their opinions on their respective sides' performances.

Cheese. He settle. Welcome back to the on the ball podcast. This is episode thirty two. That's an absolute guess. It can be amazed. It's thirty three. Thirty three, thirty three, I'm at I'm so bad with the episode numbers, but I'm right. Yeah, welcome back, welcome back to the show. As you have just heard, weird once again joined by Pilach. Welcome back, man, thanks for thanks. Right. How are we boys? Yeah, good, thank and we are once again joined by the resident AFL expert and Wounds League expert. Yes, Angus. Very welcome back, man. Thanks hmy mate. It's good to be back. Have we been boys enjoying the footy? It's been unreal being I've watched basically every single match since since it restarted. So thank yeah, it did look like they're for a bit of a for a little period, that it might be called off once again, but it looks like we're gonna see how the rest of the season all beat and maybe some unusual circumstances, but I think we're going to get there. So today we're going to be doing a monthly AFL review. So we're just there's been a month so for around since we came back from lockdown or, you know, the AFL resumed and we're just going to go team by team and we're just going to maybe chat for five minutes on each side. We're going to give them a rating out of ten and award an MVP and just generally chat about how that club's fed this month. So we made Sall just get straight into it. We're going alphabetical order, but it is a little bit to confuse because we have made some changes because new to this episode, we're going to be getting some people who aren't guess on the show, so not Pilchra Rowy, to send in their thoughts on how their teams perform. So you'll understand that maybe a little bit more when we get to it. But so, yes, Adelaide, first up, the last. They're not how to crash on. They are. They've gone on for I believe they're the only team that the only team left without a win, and are right. That is great. Yeah, I lost to free on the weekend, which was the battle of the wall. At the moment. It was the current battle for last place. How have you seen their month, rowy Um, not, I mean saying very pause in understanding they're like nothing. It was few people saying befell teams or second team Scabat them. By the way they played, especially on the weekend. I don't know if anyone watched that first cup first quarter or two, but every second just disposal the ball was a turnover straights. It back to Frere. Their boys is the porable, especially with their best plays, you know, the to crash brothers, specializing handles. They just it's it's not looking great. They don't seem to enjoy when they play. You know, you see teams like Collingwood and Richmond always laughing with each other as they run out into the grounds, but Adelaide is just it's just looks like a bit of a Chol and they play and yeah, it's just they've got no real talent the team. I mean they're always kicking to like set of fringe players like mcadam Frampton, who played literally lesson ten games with the main targets of the weekend. So yeah, it's not looking good. Yeah, what about your pilch? Yeah, totally great. Half the half the team to me looks disinterested their pressure. They bring up the pressure gage in their matches and it's always in the right in the red, for the for the poor section. And Yeah, it's got to be. It's got to be the worst start to...

...and to an AFL season in a long time. And Yeah, they've got a probably at a few worth, but because they normal start strong. Last few years they're always like two and one. But Yeah, these, the crows, have been absolutely dreadful. People thought they were going to be bad, but probably not this bad. Yeah, I do have to say we're we did our predictions before round two. I did kind of get out of laid a bit wrong. I said maybe twelve. Then you roll in Rowdy. Both had them in seventeen, which is looking a lot more accurate. Yeah, if you had to put a number on it out of ten, what are you writing, Adelaides? Month now I've been I'm gonna be generous and say too, but that's due to expectation purely. If it was based on performance alone, they'd barely get a one. But given they were expected to be pretty, pretty poor, I'll give them a too, just because I think couple of their young players may look o okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna I'm going to give them a one because, yeah, they've had the long players. Some of them look all right, but the fact that all they're senior players. None of them are performing. They're all in career worse form. They look disinterested, text walk are absolutely shirked and I'm contested chess mark on the weekend. Yeah, I'm giving them a one enough. They're fair enough if you like. This is a tough task. If you have to name the MVP, Rowy, who would you give it to for the crows? I hate to do it because I think he's definitely not one of the most impacting players. Like I'd love to give it to like laird or Smith, but probably just has to be bread crouch. He's you're doing the best players. Just probably has to be him. Yeah, this guy there was a tough one for me because I've all been so woeful. I mean, Brad Crouch has been all right, but Tom dooday's been a right as well. He's been taken a few into sad marks. But yeah, I'M gonna I'll go Brad Crouch as well. Yeah, I think now I'd probably be the consensus pick. I'd say he's been racking it up as he normally does. But yeah, as we were saying before, not that impactful with it, but probably the best of a bad bunch, I'd say. But I'm west coast coming up and St Kilda, who they both actually in pretty handy form. West Coast only kind of snapped their bawd run a form on the weekend, but say he would have been fairly decent in the last four rounds. So wouldn't be wouldn't shock me if they continue that losing streak. Next we're going to have our first fan. You know, perspective. I didn't really know how to what to call it. We're moving on to the Brisbane Lions and the Fan we've got is Alex Gibson, Gibo, big maide of ours. We will play Creeker with him points. So yeah, we'll hand it over to Gibo and we'll see what he was thinking. Hey, corker, absolutely stoked to be on his show mate. I did notice a few episodes ago cocked a bit of a clip for my captaincy Miss Hat, which was me and not rob, so I do apologize and I'll Chen that one. But obviously he did A to talk about the mighty lions, which makes me even happier, and obviously we're going really well. The move played four games at home and for wins since the lockdown, which I mean you can't complain at all. But obviously it was a bit nervous going to the freer game because I thought that our loss against Hawthorne was pretty disappointing and we did not play good football. Obviously they're a good team and coach well, but our ladies in stand up that day and I think it cost us. So going to the three game, was quite nervous about it, but I think we were the best team all day but we just couldn't seem to kick ahead. I don't think we would have been up by more than three goals for the entire game, where we probably were, you know, a four goal lead team on that day. But obviously walters and five stood up for them and you know, for there to be a minute...

...to go in the game and I'll suddenly up by a goal, you'd be pretty nervous as a supporter and I was definitely getting a little bit on the edge of my seat. But for us to escape that that game with a win and get four points on the board as obviously massive result. And then going to the West Coast game obviously bit of expectation again the Brisbane win, but I think people sort of discredit that win a little bit. I think west coast are still a good quality football tide and their midfield is obviously quite late and for us to think we want buy about five or six goals that day. So you're going to take that any day of the week. Really so really happy with that. And then going into the Adelaide game, obviously another frustrating game to watch. You look at the likes of mcclugge's and Neil kicking eleven behinds between them is frustrating. But I mean for someone like human cluggage, she's still at twenty two year olds be for him to be getting, you know, seven shots on goals and midfield and game, it just speaks volumes about his capabilities going forward and what he can be one day. So hobeviously you're still in the honeymoon phase supposed as a Brisbane line support. You look at twenty thirteen and you know we were in Adelaide sort of crisis in mode and a way that we were getting all these young players in and people were leaving and you know, you look forward, back then you were bit worried about where the club was going and how it was going to be resurface. But obviously you still going to take every single win. So that Adlaid when you'd still happy walking away from it, even though you should have won by probably eighty points. But you're still happy, like I said. And then obviously on the weekend's game against port there's a bit of expectation that it was going to be a good game of footy, but I honestly think the Brisbane covered pored in most assets of the game. I think we whacked him in the second quarter. That's probably one of the best quarters of footies I've watched from a from a Brisbane point of view, the way we were able to move the ball and obviously phages his game plans around getting the ball in board. And then our best distribute is kicking into our Ford fifty and blokes like hip would and mixed a played really well and we've got a good, good young list. But I think people underwrite jared berry a lot. He's in the same conversation as say, a hip would or mccluggage. Obviously not as good as mccluggage, but you know, for his role within the team is just as important as someone like Huey, but I think yet he's honestly going to be a future captain about club one day. I'll I'll book that one in. But yeah, obviously going forward into hub life, for not really sure what to expect from a supporters point of view. But I was speaking it to been over the other day and he was saying, Oh the suns, but sort of who was sort of, sort of similar to the lines in the fact that think their teams they put on the weekend where the bottom five in terms of least ages being the youngest. And that means when you look at hub life, you know everyone's complaining about the fact in moving ways and their families and stuff like that, but at the end of the day, Brisbane and Gold Coast there a bunch of twenty one, twenty two year olds, even younger, who already lived out at home. So for them to head over there they shouldn't be too phase by and Ben I wasn't to phase at all. And obviously Brisbane I got the fucking fags, who's obviously, I see, any coach and been in the industry for years, so he's expertise and experience in that situation. We should be able to rally our group together. Obviously Brisbane really seems to be real tight knick group, which we shall help them. And then going forward, I mean we should really make top for and I suppose people saying where the teams are been at the moment, which we probably are if we play at the Gab and going forward in years to come to have it least. You know, five odd games at the gathers a massive advantage for us and we should be contending it for a flag at lease this year. But, like I said, we're still young team, so they can't be too much expectation. But yeah, that's my rap mate. Like I said, absolutely stoked to be part of your show and yeah, keep up the good work. All Right,...

...thanks for that one give. Oh, thanks for the calm words. Well, may what do you what do you guys think of what you had to say? We'll start the you, pilch. Yeah, some good some good analysis by Gibber there, I must say. But yeah, it's pretty obvious that Brisbane have been the best team in the competition by some way. Since since lockdown I've been playing some great footy. Had A bit of had some accuracy issues against Adelaide but yeah, against the power they they are sadly outplayed us there, for line was there for line was unreal. Every time they bombed it in there were scoring in that second quarter. But yeah, hard to hard to felt them at this stage. If you had to give them a rating and the MVP, who who would you go? Hilt will go to the well, as Kiba said, they've got a great list, but lucky neils probably been the best player in the competition so far. So you can't really, can't really give it to anyone else. Yeah, and then ten out of ten for me. All right, what we're what about you or do you think of Brisbane this month? Yeah, obviously very hard to fault. Obviously I only lost coming in around one and you can't really take much away from around one, which think what we've all learned. You know, Adelaid actually put up half days and performance Gold Coast didn't, and obviously those teams are both switch so I'm yeah, it's just that slightly ability to kick away from teams that give very touchdown that's really just holding them back, but only slightly. I'm will it come to haunt them later in the season? Maybe, but yeah, see, they are really hard to fall the other team to be in the competition, every other team since the return. You can say a couple negative things about them, but come to Brisbane you can't really apart from their mining goal kicking issues. Yeah, I will say, though. I will say they've played. I'm pretty sure they've played every game in the Gabus since lockdown. So I'd like to say I'd like to see how they fair away from home this season, because obviously they lost to Hawthorne at the Ground One. So but yeah, it's true. Yeah, that's interesting what they'll do, because aren't there a few teams who are gone up to hub in Queensland? Yeah, I'm pretty sure the lines will have got another runs up. Yeah, they might just have two cop more home games. Yeah, she which would be obviously great for them. If you have to give them a number out of ten, MVP Rolly, I'll give them as a base on expectation. I'll give them nine out of ten, just because everyone expected to be good. I think it's just that that goal kicking, just unable to kick away from teams might just hinder them slightly, which I altim our teams doing well the moment, like Sin Kild for example, but yeah, probably nine out of ten. MVP IS OSCAR MAC at. No, no looking you number PA. See. Yeah, the clear right. I'm probably the Brown less favorite at the moment and definitely make all a Australian team this pool with his arm forms of moments. So yeah, has to be looking your racking up disposals for fun, Lucky. Yeah, on top of the coach's votes as well, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, he's miles he's miles ahead. It's usually a pretty good judge of how good a players being because, like with Brown low votes, you could be the fourth best player in every game and you just come out with no votes for the season. I'm pretty good, all right. So that's Brisbane done. For those with OCD or anything, sorry to do this to you, but we are. We've got some fans of Carlton Collingwood nested in, but they're going to be featured in the next episode. So we're moving on to Frio. So bit of a roller coaster here, from bad to good to bad, as we just touched on before. We're talking about Adelaide. They were in a in a shootout to get their first win on the weekend. They did Defeat Adelaide Crows pilch. How have you seen their month? Well, obviously they have gone one and three, but I actually, I actually...

...don't mind them because they've put up they haven't really been thumped by anyone and they've played other than Adelaide on the weekend. They've played some pretty handysides in the are in the power and Brisbane Rother. Yeah, that's yeah, yeah, exactly. So I'm in considering that. They're I think they're there. They should be righted a lot higher than Adelaide at the moment and I think they'll. I think they'll get a few wins this season. Yeah, and first round they are. Know when I'm quit in the first round, but then they lost by Gold Esten as well. Yeah, and I've did miss the Freyer class. I know it's an eighteen more twenty two play a game, but five is publy one of the best in the concert, big out row he had. You see their mom Um. Yeah, honestly, they are what sixteen? I think right now they just over some MOLBOM. I think they have been probably better than what people have said about them. They've sort of done what's expected. They haven't, you know, lost heavily to anyone. They haven't beaten anyone that they shouldn't have beat but, like you know, the sort of almost expect. Obviously weren't going to have a great season. I think the loss of hill was arm a look in pact is going to impact them a lot more and people for and it has now the essentially to men team. But you see likes of Bray Shaw and Tucker and Chera coming through, some good talent and Tuck riding was one of the best players on the weekend, keep the match winning goal and all that. So they've done pretty well. Obviously nearly beat Brisbane in that game. I Um. But yeah, I think I've done pretty well also, considering they've lost five for a week and match get the job done against UN laid. So yeah, I think I've been okay. Yeah, Brett, sure it was. I've actually probably watched free and more than any other side this month. I haven't watched too much footy. Hencewam not pitching in too much. But yeah, brasure was awesome yesterday, so maybe you could be looking for a breakout year. And then against port they went down by twenty nine, but I didn't actually think they played that bad and also I really like the look of Hayde and young. He's like become one of the best kicks in the COMP in yeah, well, just only a couple seasons, I reckon. He's got to lethal left foot. So if you had to give them the raining out of ten and award an MVP row Sif who you gone, I'll give them. Given the still sixteen of the light. I still have to get better, I'll give him a five out of ten. They are a two man team in the moment, so it's obviously see making it tough. Mvpay probably still be five, even though he missed that game, while it is obviously second. But yeah, I'll have to give that one to five. Yeah, pilch. Yeah, I'm going to give them a six out of ten because, I mean, they won't really expected to to to, you know, push for the top eight or anything like that. And, as rally said, a lot of their young players have shown some pretty good signs, Bra sure, Chera, etc. So I think there are I think there are some positives. Three and then obviously five MVP as well. He's been unreal all right. Moving on to Geelong, with this is our second team with a fan mention so we've got tyler eat good made it out. I'd like to publicly apologize for Tyler. Used to give him quite a lot of I sed to lift him off quite a bit near ten school footing one unch time. It's pretty underserved and, looking back, pretty bown. Sorry about that, but yeah, here we go. Let's see it. Let's see what he had to say about the cats. Hey. So jelong season post lockdown has been all right so far. We've had the three wins and just the one loss to Carlton, which we really should have turned into a ween considering how well we played in the last quarter. But really happy with the game against Hawthorne and the Gold Coast Guys, particularly the second halves. Overall I'll probably give us a seven and a half out of ten. Could have done better, especially against Carlton and Melbourne, but the whole thorn...

...and Gold Coast Games really lift that. Writing up for an MVP tied to go past Mitch Duncan. He's always consistent in this year's been no different at all. So would pasit many goal a probably second, third and fourth, but overall, yeah, pretty happy with glong performance so far. Currently seeing third on the ladder. It's hopefully we can take that into the finals. Thanks for that one. Tyler Rowey, would you make of gelongs month? I mean the words from Tyler come from a geelong supporter, so I wasn't his plays with them, and he probably was. They've got one of the most exciting this in the calm. They've got danger and sell wood in the middle. They've got Parfitt and Nuchaele coming through, obviously possessed loads backs back to between them, Duncan and gut through in the outsides, aublet Dhalhouse forward, with Hawkins stew in the back line. Blitz ask can do anything. They barely beat Melbourne. They were down in the third quarter to gold case. So obviously a quality side of the moment, but they play some of the most boring footy for such a quality side I've seen in a long time. And obviously the loss of Hulton is for a team it should be top for mate going deep into the finals. This last month honestly hasn't. Hasn't looked like it for me. They've been underwhelming in my views, given their expectations and their list. Yeah, only the round one that gets them. I think around one within that gets them a side. I should don't know what I've written down there, but anyway, they've been obviously okay. Couple of wins, but those losses looks really underwhelming in my point of view, especially for a quality side. Yeah, pillage, what did you reckon? Yeah, yeah, it's long have been pretty pretty inconsistent so far. I mean the loss, the loss against Carlton wasn't great, but the reality is they've gone. They've gone three in one, the third on the ladder with a great percentage, and they did blitz the Hawks and got the job done over Melbourne and Gold Coast, Gal coast of men looking pretty good. So I do think they're they're probably not quite I mean people would have been expecting a definite top for finish for them, but I mean they're thread on the ladder, so can't really they've bet. The probably been about average for me. Yeah, big two, big two weeks coming up for them. They've got Brisbane at the SEG, which is bit of an old one, and then, even more strange, they've got collingwood at optus. So all be weird venues to pretty big matchups for them. Yeah, cut the big games there. If you had to rate them out of ten and give them the MVP row. Who are you going based on what they should be delivering, especially the Paul Fence is against Carlin, Melbourne and first halfins Gold Crist we give him a five mvpay time. And the sign between Duncan and danger. Might Go Duncan just because he has been unreal this year. Danger obviously close. Second, which, YEP, I've may have friend maybe a bit landing with some of my my writings here, but I've even them as seven just because they they have gone through one and they're third on the ladder. And then the the MVP ill. It was a tough one, but I've actually gone Joel. So would he's moved. He's playing a bit more inside midfield so far this season, backing up clearances and he's having a he's having a good impact. Of liked what he's liked what he's produced so far, and danger has been dangerous been subpar to what he's expected to do. So yeah, fair enough. Onto The sun's. Obviously there's no fan one for this one. Stick B blow pretty tough to find. However, they're in saying...

...that they might have gained a few fans this month because they've done pretty well. They're sitting in sixth pilch. What did you make of their month? Yeah, Band Reagan forming forming there for them. Yeah, obviously they've had a brilliant month since since I so matt row is an absolute weapon. I think he came into third favorite for the Brown low on our on the bookies, until he until he did his shoulder. But yeah, they're there. Their list is so young. So they're very promising and I don't think I'm pretty sure before the season people is going like I wand twenty two. I went twenty two for the Sun. So they've completely outdone their expectations. Yeah, Roy, I'm not a fan of having second favorite teams, but Gold Coast has definitely become mine. Matt Roue has become my religion as well. They're awesome to watch. They actually some of the way they have. They placed on the most exciting footage this year of any other team and it's just awesome to watch. Look if someone was to tell me that a thirty point lost toge along at Kidinia Park, where they were down in the third quarter. So whether all winning in the third quarter was going to be their biggest blemish since coming back from the isolation. Then you would have just said that they were wrong. But that really has been the biggest low point since coming back. Was a loss to g along and I really wasn't a heavy loss at all. So I think they've been awesome. Definitely defied all the odds and expectations of them. So, yeah, it's looking good for them. Yeah, they've been pretty incredible. I've actually caught a bit of the sun's and yeah, as you guys are saying, they've just been so exciting to watch. And not only doing that, they're getting the results on the school board. PILCH. If you have to award an MVP and give them a rating, its actually this actually might be a bit stiff, but I've snubbed them of the ten. I've gone a nine out of ten just because this I mean they haven't really they haven't produced perfect footy, but they're midfields looking unreal this year. And then MVP, obviously matt row by a country mile. I'll give them a nine point five just because no one expected it to be like, I guess, as good as they are at the moment. And Yeah, and they paid a Matt Row Garant wicks is done really well and becauesers an honorable mention. But yeah, I'll have to get it to my rel yeah, fair enough, rous like, is he second or third in the coach's votes? He's right up there and he'd yeah, obviously he's votes on the weekend. I think you might be second on thirty votes. It was the second ever play Oling to school perfect tens three weeks in a row since the coach of roots came in, if I'm not mistaken. So from a third fourth game. It's awesome. All right. Next we're moving on to the next expansion team. Can you even call them expansion teams? That haven't like ten years ago? But it gws peelch. What do you think of the giants month? Yeah, look similar. With too long they have been a bit inconsistent. I mean they started off with losses to north and the bulldogs, but since then they've had a couple of great wins against Collingwood and hawks. Although the pies actually haven't looked too good, it's still a good win. And Yeah, they've set them they've set themselves up over the past couple of weeks for a good season and I think they'll be right in the mix of the top four and they've yet. They've played some good, good attacking foot as well. They're inside fifty. Conversion on the weekend was like twenty two sixteenside s for eighteen scores or something ridiculous like that. So they're they're beneficient going forward as well. Right. Yeah, I think Tusha on Pilch said, I think they have set their season up well.

Obviously, their record the moments three and two, but those written the most racing two games were obviously two of their wins. So they've sort of brushed off their previous losses, which will also largely due to injuries. I think that dog's game. Whitfield obviously went down early in Kelly Woods a late out and Toronto's obviously gone. And look there they beat Collingwood as well. I think it was a massive victory for them. That was really the turning point got them back back to where they belong, sort of close to the top of the ladder. And obviously they beat yeah, they'll be calling who smashed the Saints Week before. That was on the best foot, I think, of club ever played this season. So to beat them on their home turf the next week by a few points. I think that was a win that almost deserves more than four points, probably in their eyes, because that really was a turning point for them and I think that's highly regarded at the club at the moment. That's what is going to be the turning point for their season after these early losses. But yeah, yeah, big, big two rounds for them coming up. They've got poured at metricon and then the lions in Sydney because, like you know, they're at the moment. They're not doing too bad. They're sitting in seventh, so they'll they'll cop that. But if they lose those two that all of a sudden they're three and for in a seventeen round season, which probably would see their top four hopes potentially dashed early. Pilch, if you had to give you know, you know the usual thing by now. I'll do matt. They're tough, tough brand for them against the power this week in metricon. That is true, but seeing as though they turn their they've turned their season around nicely, couple of great wins last two weeks. So I've gone I'm going to give him a seven out of ten and MBP and really pay this run was a tough one as well. There are a few. Harry Perryman, Harry Perriman's been unreal. Just fol David's as usual, just carry starting to play well. But Nick Canes, every time I watch the giants he seems to take about twenty seven interset marks and then just beautiful kickoff halfback with his flowing blond locks. So yeah, Nick Hanes gets my boat there really yeah, I'm going to also agree with you. Seven out of ten for me, and definitely new canes. He has one of the best, one of the best under eighteen draft profile photos you'll ever see. Go setch it up and and you say that he's going to be one of the best in set. Mark is come two thousand and twenty and probably all Australian and expecting great things from but I'm yeah, he's. He's been really good for them. So yeah, seven our and ittains, as the MVPAYS. So far for me, yeah, fair enough, peeled. You got a fair few bromances in the giant side. I must have been a tough selection for you, that is true. It was tough to go inside Josh Kelley, but yeah, it has missed a game, a few process on the wall for you. I reckon of that man. Now moving on to Hawthorne, we have another fan submission. This is a bit of a short one but it tended it over to James Curses, so I'm somewhat happy hawks at so far we're three into seen at ninth. Our winds have been reasonably impressive. We've beat Brisbane, who've turned out to be a pretty decent side, with be last y's premiers, Richmond, and we also beat what wasn't inform North Melbourne at the time. But our losses of also been pretty concerning. So we got blitz to buy to long and then also by Gws most recently, who are obviously going to be premiership for premiership contenders. But yeah, big concerned about the big losses we've had. We've shown some pretty inconsistent form but overall reasonably happy. Bit also a bit concerned about our percentage, which is quite low. But I can...

...see has been a reasonable team, probably just shifting. So I'd give it a seven out of ten. So it's not bad, but it could be better. I reckon and I would say yea, you go. Mirror is mvpd the movie, because I think he displayed he's importance to the team in that return after the Jolong loss and he just wrecked up disposure. So obviously show showed his importance and obviously came, Oh, came home with a w that day. So Yeah, all right, pillage, what you make of Coitus has comments? Yeah, some wise words. They're from Curtis, but he's he's a die hard hawks fan, so we can't argue with what he says. But yeah, they've been. They have been inconsistent, as they as a normally are over the last couple of seasons. But a great win, a great win over the tigs. They dusted up north and Melbourne. So ill man, they're probably about where the percentage is obviously harming them for their equal third at three and two. So I mean I do think they've done all right so far and I've played the good footy at at points. Yeah, like, I know it might be a factor in such a short season, but I'm not really coppin talking about percentage in round five. But yeah, Rot Rolly, what do you think? Yeah, since since returning to footage, had one exceptional performance, one mediocre and to poor that that we against north. Given their lead, it nearly felt like a loss to them. I mean Elisa Clarkson's press confers as the game all need two walked about was the UMPIRES and all that. You know, the players walking off and look, you know, like they just want to grand final. They just looked as old they've just played another game of footy. And Yeah, given they forgot how to play footy against north and our last quarter, it's expected and they would have been a very awkward singing of the song, I think, by them because honestly I think everyone was disappointed each other for that performance they dished up at the end of the game. But they do they did win. One thing always notice is always a different set of goal kickers for them. So it's really hard to pinpoint who their main six forwards are, which I think will hold them back later in the season, just given the lack of Camistry is probably going to be between the forward six every match. But they've been okay. I do want to see a bit more of them, though, if they want to make top eight, as curse pointed out. Yeah, they've got collingwood this weekend, so that'll be an interesting one and they're probably have haven't been too happy with their last couple of performances. So we'll see how they go there. Peeled. If you have to give them a rating, yeah, look, six out of ten for me. I think they've been they're just it's about where they're they're meant to be. I wouldn't have thought they would have been. I would have probably tipped them to come around eight or nine by seasons end. And and so six out of ten. And the MVP pains me to say it breaks the heart that chadwing guard. He's probably been their best player so far. Tom Mitchell hasn't really got going. Still looks like a lingering injury issue there. But yeah, Chatt, he's been unreal for them. He's been kicking goals, helping out in the midfield. I think you got a perfect ten two rounds ago in the coaches. I think you might be in like the top six in the competition in the coaches vote, something like that. So that's stiff. Nothing with screaming there may, but really really writing. You got them. I'll give him the six point five or over the decimal that that win against Richmond really helps their rating. MVP. Yeah, I think it has to be win guard. He's played, he's sort of gone under the radar, I think on the guys, a lot of supporters. I think macavoys done really well for them as well, and Smith for his age. But...

...yeah, I think when guy's got to be the MVP from at the moment. Obviously s called that perfect turn against north and yeah, yeah, I'll just assume you guys haven't given screaming the MVP because he got injured yesterday. Is Chi forty would he was on ti to get by MVP, but yeah, very stiff. By his own accord, he said he would have had forty if you completed the matter of second now moving on to your two sides, we've met had a few late changes to the team lists team orders. So yeah, once again, sorry if you love love your orders and categories, because we're changing out the OUP of that here. But we'll start with port pilled his team. How have you seen their month? They post locked. We're work. I've been. I've been really impressed with the power I think they're they've been one of the best teams in the competition that played some great footy. Their pressure, pressure has been a huge difference from last season. We've been pressure has been really high, playing good footy and our inside getting it into the inside fifty. That was out. That was out down for last season. This year we've really stepped that up and also big Charlie. Big Charlie's looked unreal so far. So we did. We got dusted up by by the Brisbane forward line on the weekend. Unfortunately the defense had a bit of a stinker, but I am I'm optimistic about the power this year. I think will be. Will be right up there and I think people, people will be sleeping on us after the weekends game. What do you reckon rally as a out either looking in? Yeah, yeah, I think they've obviously been one of the best in the competition. They're definitely not top four range in terms of performances. They have obviously played some easy teams but they have put them away, which is something that Bruce been the obviously probably the best for the competition, hasn't been able to do chiding since obviously been largely responsible for that. And sorry, just the goal kicking mids and forwards. For them they've all de lived really well. Connor rose, any second years, just continues to kick bags and excite the fans watching. Yeah, I think obviously the loss on the weekend brought them a little bit back down to Earth. They are quality side, no doubt about that, but I think the game against get of US will really show how they perform against those top teams. Obviously they'll make finals, there's no doubt about that, unless something of miracle happens. But yeah, I'll be interesting to see how they perform this week and whether the poor that we've seen the last month is the true port and whether that lost the weekend was just just a little minor one, just one of those one off ones. But yeah, it'll be interesting to see this week and against the giants, definitely looking forward to it's a match the around for me. But yeah, yeah, also, are you are pretty sure you predicted them to come sick or something, which is pretty good effort, because I don't reckon many people had them in finals like a buy anything. So even too light at the moment. Yeah, yeah, well, if you have to write them out of ten and I'll give them, I'll give them a nine. That loss obviously is stopping them from being a nine, point five or ten. But yeah, they've been very, very sold against those teams that they needed to be and they did mvpay bocal diction. I um might have to just just go dixon over both. WHO. Yeah, I just he's doing what is purely because he's doing what lots at all forwards don't really do anymore. There's I think it was a long, long stretch of games in between the time someone kicks six goals and Dixon six against the eagles. So He's obviously showing the rest of the competition how to do it. So I'm going to give Charlie the sea, Charlie and be pay yeah, Pilch, what do you reckon? Yeah, I've...

...given them a night as well. I think we have played easy teams but, as he said rally, we've we've dusted them up with absolute days and I think the win against West Coast by fifty points, that was an underrated win because I'll put I'll put money that west coast to be right up there come the end of the season. And Yeah, Dixon, Dixon's been unreal. But I've got to give it to trave boke. I think he's he's an absolute elite of the competition. This year and last year is really elevated his game. He's leads the competition in inside s so far this season. He's always racking up eight, hundred, ten clearances, and yet so boky butters butters are close third as well. He's that he's been unreal. Yeah, two of their matches. But yeah, but as has been unreal. They arguably better than rosy this season. Yeah, agreed, and then as well as our had to great about that, my boys, but we'd rather we do have a very, very young list like Gold Coast and lines. How we touched them before. A lot of the young boys, a lot of the young boys in their straps, so optimisty about the future as well. Yeah, especially Samuel Power Pepper. Fine, rally. Moving on to your boys, the saying is yes, how have you viewed their month? Typically, like every season, there's two types of St Kilda. There's the good one the bad one. But you can say about any team really, but it's very clear with the saints. You'll tell within the first tenance of the game which one, which team is turn ups the park can in. Certainly the good saint killed is always turned up at marvel against the slightly worse a team. So we are, you know, we are doing well. If you were to say we'd be this record and the start of the year. I'd take it, especially can wins against the line lines the tigers and you know, putting away Carlton and the Dogs Lost Too. Applies hurt us. We got just got taught how to play footy really that day. They completely annihilated us, and that's not even an under stay. And we just did not play well on the score board. Honestly, should have been a greater margin. We do seat suit the dimensions of Eddie hudd's a marvel, so it'll be interesting to see how we play away from there. For a while I've been very, very happy with the inclusions of Jones, Hill, Butler and and obviously Howard as well. They've been some of the best players filed. You're probably a bit filthy about Howard leaving, but he's been unreal. You know, him and Carlyle and will kie kepts Kasbot, McCain and there other tall McGovern to zero goals and I think like fourteen touches between them on the weekend. So they will been really good. Jones is pace by other's pace is exactly what we needed and he'll obviously so. Yeah, I'm looking forward to Um the next month of footage. See where we're at. We're always playing free and Adelaide hopefully can set us up for potentially a finals chase by the end of the year. But going to not not go ahead of my expectations. I'm going to try and stay realistic with us. And Yeah, fingers Christ peeled. Yeah, look the power, the power say, and they could have done with do how it. On the weekend Tom Cleary got absolutely literated by mixed Ay and could have done with Howard's height and punching ability there be able to sinners us. I watched the game against the pies and I've gone all no saying that banning bottom for but see, since then something switched and they've been they've produced him unreal footy. I was really impressed their last two wins over the tags and and the blues as well. All the same as were clearly the better team against the blues. Probably should have been a bigger margin there. So yeah, I think they'll be. They'll be up there this season, pushing for the top eight and definitely a gratch start to the year. Really Right. If you have to write them out of ten, I'm going to give us a night. It's a season, it's a season vote that lost against North shouldn't have happened. So I was very disappointing and obviously the pies that was not good. But the winds...

...have been good. Mvpay it's you're tossing up, honestly, between the recruits and Jack Steele a worthy nomination. I'm going to give it to Zach Jones. I think he's been very, very underrated in the midfield. Dan Butler, obviously I'm very close second, but Zack Jones has been awesome for us in near field. He's given us that pace that the likes have done. Stin and steel and Hannibrery in you'd often see in the middle three just wouldn't give. Obviously handle specialists and like to tackle, but don't really specialize in kicking. And Jones all its kicking is and he's strong suit, but he gets the ball moving, gains a lot of meters in in game and just breaks away from stockages. So I'm going to give it to Zack Jones. I'm probably it's a bit of a smoky compared to maybe butler, is steel and those likes. Yeah, I actually Reckon Zack Jones has been pretty good. Like I remember that I watched them as the dogs and actually thought St Kilda were like genuine green final contended probably the best footy I've ever seen Saint Kil to play in my short time at there, fell fan. But Yeah, Zach Jones, I reckon you. Even at Sydney he was underappreciated, like I feel like a lot of the time, and footy disposals and like disposal efficiency or super coach points, like over valued. But if you look at some of the best players in the comp like your dangers, you're dusties. They chop it a lot of the time, like I think they were in the top three. clanger will turn over kickers last season or something like that. And Yeah, saying row he's act. Jones just heaps and meters, gains, heaps a pace, which are probably two of the best assets to have as a football at the moment. Pilch, if you have to write them. Yeah, same with throwy. Eight out of ten for me. And in terms of the MVP, I greet Zack Jones has been very underrated. He's got some wheels on him and he's been he's been racking up, racking up touches, having an impact on the game. But I had him for our twenty plus when he went down injured against the tide. So a little bit filthy there. And on the near on the flip side, damn, damn, butle's been doing wonders for my from a sports bet account, having him to plus goals each week. But probably going to have to get it to Jack Steel. I think he's. I think he's just pipping Dan Butler. For me, brings has been good to but yeah, Jack Steel, yeah, shout. Shout out to the Kings as well. I think they've both seen pretty elite this month. Socially insane like how good they are. Usually at all forward takes ages to develop or just don't develop at all, as we've seen a lot in the recent drafts with like your Josh Shacki's and stuff. But yeah, pretty crazy how good they're going at the moment. Just quietly thoughts on our Josh Bruce Kick in six on threecad. Where did that? Where did that come from? Yeah, strange. Hopefully want to see play against code, to play alongside Cordie Whiteman. I'd be awesome to say. Yeah, right, fires and yeah, I'd be involved in Ford Lines to watch Bruce continues to live. But yeah, been salty with that. Give them hum let him go. But Max, Max will be better. Yeah, definitely, definitely. So I'm not a good in the forward line on the weekend as well. Yeah, yeah, so thanks for joining me, Lads. We're recording another episode tomorrow night, but when you're listening to this it will be coming out in another two or three days. We're just going to be basically doing the teens we haven't covered today and we're going to be having some more insights from the fans of their clubs and stuff like that. ...or too incorrect and you've just caught them. But yeah, thanks for joining me, lads, and thanks for listening. Sea they rose, Coreka, chees, SAM.
