CHS ALAR and welcome back to the onballpodcast. This is episode. A hundred and two of the show- and we are here tofinish the NFL award to we started in episode. A Hundred D one today we'll betalking about the other conference of the NFL, so episode a hundred and onewe talked about the AFC we went through offensive and defensive nbps offensivedefensive, rookie nvps and we also went through some on rewards like coach, thesignings of the game the year. So we're going to bedoing the exact same thing today, but on the NSC side of things, so without further Aduw, I think I saidat almost every episode. Biar we get straight into it, starting with theoffensive MVP. Once again, like yesterday's episode, I'm going to godivision by division and use that a sort of a nominee sort of situation sowe'll starve the NFC east offensive NBP. I can't lie there. Weren't too manyoptions in this division. Definitely the weakest division in the NFL thisyear, but the offensive MVP candidate for meis a Mari Cooper. Given the catastrophe of a year was worDallas and theyre changing quarterbacks with ducks injury and Youdonalso gotinjured, so you had to deal with bend. Nuchi Andi actually figured the otherbloks name, but there was another guy played one game, so he dealt with fourdifferent quarterbacks throughout the season. He still performed to a prettyhigh level. In my opinion, I have hem finishing as the seventeenth best waterreceiver for the year, which is probably aboutwhere we would have him at the start. Maybe we have thought you had finisheda little bit higher than that, but if you knew dack was going to be injuredfrom about week, five on when Jid may become some slick, so I think he had apretty impressive year, just given all those moving parts eleventh inreceptions in this in the NFL fourteenth in receiving yard. So Ithink Amara Hooper did his best in a struggling team and I think there'scan't be too many complaints with his performances this year. So he's theoffensive MVP candidate from the NFCEAST. On my opinion, moving on to the NF north, this is acompletely different story. Here we are spoilt for choice, but the clear standout is Aron Rodgers. There could be a case for Divante Adams, as in myopinion here was the best oe receiver, but yeah look at number one wide receiverversus a in my opinion top to. I don't want to spoil it so I'll, say a top twoquarterback. It's tough to pick the wide receiver there, so I'm going withourn Rodgers, most passing TDS for the best completion rate of anyone who hadover a hundred and fifty attempts least interceptions of anyone who started aleast fifteen games. So pretty incredible you from him, I can't liethought he was maybe on the decline. His career after the twsnty nineteenyear and tin, saying that he still probably had a top ten year, butprobably was just outside that top fight. But he came back with vengeancethis year and in my opinion he was the best quarterback on the season honorable mentions do have to go todivontadens, like I said, eighteen top receiving touchdowns over thirteenhundred yards. He was the number one wive receiver in. I think everyone'sopinion also worth ventioning Daven Cook was at another cracking year, probably finished as the running back too behind Henry and then JustonJefferson, David, Montgomery, Aaron Jones, Adam fiel and aln, Romsan andkirt cousins all have pretty impressive years, so I think they all deserve andmention...

...moving on to the NFC south, anotherdivision that is fairly stack to nothing Cinben to the NSC northirnterms of individual talent. But I've actually gone with a strange on here. Ireckon most people would have Camar or Brady, but I've actually done withCalvin Redley, and we predicted his breakout at the start of the season onthis podcast, and he did certainly do that. He is season was messed around a littlebit with Foleo Jones being intofer a lot of it. He was also injured for someof it by the end of the year, thirteenth, in reception, sixth andreceiving yards top ten in receiving touchdowns, and he was also forth inthe yards per game. So when he was on the park, he was one of the better widereceivers in the competition I had in finishing as the fifth receiver. That'sincluding titens are Kelse is the number for so realistically Adems. Thenumber fore wide receiver on the season, which is pretty impressive. Consideringoutlanter didn't have the most successful of seasons, so he's probablyan outside call, but I'm going to pick him as my NFC south candidate for theoffensive NBP of the NFC R honorable mentions got to go to Tom Brady IAVETom Brady, as Mik qb five on the year, so for the QB five Ti miss out on adivisional NBP, that's pretty rare, so condolnces to him. I guess not that hegives a crap where I rank in then Camara. I had him ISS the Arby three aswell, so he also very unlicky to miss out and then Mike Evens and Dj moreboth had pretty good years in their respective teams. then. Finally, the NFC west. This isprobably an interesting one. I think at Wa ten, you would have laughed a SOMsaid this award wouldn't go to Carla, marry or Russell Wilson Budin. In factthey actually weren't too high in my final standings. They were, I thinkthey both missed out on the top ten, if I'm honest, so definitely Ohi, don't know if that's aconsensus opinion, but in my opinion they definitely fell away later in theyear. So I'm actually going to give the offensive MBP to decay that car Ifinished seventh in receiving yards nite in receiving touchdowns het, wasjust a force all year. It's pretty hard to gontain someone that big in thatfast. I think Jaan Rams I's, probably the only guy who could do it. I can'tremember anyone else really putting much of a lockdown job on him and yeah. He was just impressive or himand Tytle lockit up. Probably I'm just saying this off the top of my head. Sodon't shoot me, but they're, probably the best one to white receive a combo coming out of this season. You'd haveto say and then combine with Russof Wilson. It's tough to see Seattle goingto to fas Sayoft in terms of ability in the next few years. So it's going to beinteresting to see how DC MAT CASS progression goes because I thought youhadn't or standing here this year. Honorable mensions do go to tylerwocket,as I mentioned before, he had a killer year and then also to Antre Hopkins andRobert Woods for Arizon and the rands respectively. Both had really goodyears m. So some interesting nominees there. I can't lie it's not that closelike let's be Real Amari, coop ers, not winning the offenseive NBP, the NFC.NEITHER IS DEC met, CAUGF, neither is Calvin Redley, so they all have veryimpressive years, but pretty far from Aaron Rodgers and it'sfair to say, Devante Adams, if Yo was in anotherdivision, would probably be the clear number two candidate for this award soand even Dawvn Cook would probably be number three, so bi here for the NFCnorth massive year for Aron Rodgers, and he is my NFC offensive MVP and justa little Sido. I have him above my home, so he's actually my NFL MPP for theyear, so all ot Aaron Rodgers, MR DILF. I don't know if HEIS DILF he gives offdeal fibes Rickin, but the the good looking re start fromGreen Bay. He had an absolute blinderview year, wash mat the floor. There offensive schemes were pretty...

...much unrivaled all season and they findthey sadly stumbled on the final hurdle, like they did last year at the NFCchampionship game, but I'm sure that will be back next year, hopefully witha few more wideup talent in Aros. Is this opinion, I'm sure and looking on the defensive side ofthe ball? NFC East I've gone with Blake Martines, the linebacker for the NewYork giants. He's I don't know how long he was at Green Ba actually, but he wasa pretty good servant for the green bad packes for a long time and they let himgo and he moved over to New York and he had just a very good season. A lot likea lot of line back as nothing outrageous in terms of specific stuft, but just very well rounded, and each category his banstart would probably have to betenth most solo tackles in the league, which is pretty impressive, be Eah. He was probably I guess youcould say the quarterback of a very good defense there in New York,Honorwille mentions, go to Monte, swet and Chashang. Both were causing havocon that on that Washington, dayline Bu, yetvery impressive. Yeas from those Tro as well, and my defensive NDVP canidatefrom the NSC north is got to be Rouan Smith. He had an incredible year, thelineback up from the Chicago bears. We all knew coming into this year. Hewas one of the better linebackers gone around, but this year I think he reallyestablished himself as one of the very best I mea had. Ninety eight solotackles, which was second in the NFL yead eighteen tackles for a loss whichis second in the NFL as well, which is pretty impressive from the lineback ofposition. You would expect edge rushes or defense ivents to have the mosttackles forlosses. So very impressive from Rowan Smith and he was another. The Chicago Defense had another stelly year and he was another vital reasonwhy that defense ticks so well. I'm honorable mentions have to go tosederi Smith throughout another cracking year on the Green Bay d line.He is been pretty incredible since they've picked him up. Eric Wilson fromthe Vikings had a pretty good year and kalittle Mac probably wasn't quite hisdestructive best, but he was pretty impressive for most of the season aswell. The NFC south. This was a veryimpressive defensive division. In the end, probably wouldn't have beenexpecting it going into the year. You would have thought Atlanta and Carolinwould have had pretty poor defenses, but in the end, pretty much all for theteams had good or above average, defenseis, not sure if we can say thatabout outlenta but I'll say. But for me the MVP nomine is the TampaBayb Buccaneeis lineback at Devan White, an Yo second year in the league. He hadan absolute blind, he had a pretty good year and he ws first year, and I thinkhe had pretty high expectations coming into this one and he didn't. He didn'tdisappoint third, most tackles for losses in the NFL, the most solotackles in the NFL and that whole temper, buccanees defense, thatd a fewoff games, but devin white was a consistent performanin that line back a slot and I'm looking forward to seeing what he cando in the Super Bowl, along with the rest of his buccaneerd defensiveteammates, because they're really going to have to trouble my homes if they'regoing to try and win that game. But a lot of honorable mentions have togo out in this enefcy south the vision it was very competitive, especially interms of individual defensive players, a Lov Fonte David, another buccaneers, lineback Ar Voisade alluikon, not sure if FRI'm saying that right from theFalcons, Don Jones, Jason, Pierre Paul and Malcolm Jenkins, all had veryimpressive years and were a big reason why the NF south was pretty good thisyear and then in the NFC west. You could probably have guessed it, butit's Arondonald. I was actually surprised. A lot of my things are basedon statistics and jail and Ramsey,...

...probably similar to Gi AlexanderActually, and I'm sure there wase some in the AFC episode, but lockdowncorners. Unfortunately they're more of an I test, O bit like an od line. Wenthere's not really starts that back them up that much because usuallythey're, just locking te own a player, so the ball doesn't go to them too much.So Rams Ey's probably been under appreciated here by me with the starts, but Aaron Donald is my defensive. MVP candidate from the NFC west finishedwith the year with thirteen and a half sack, which was he second most in theNFL fourteen tackers for a loss. Twenty eight qb hits was, which was the fourthbost in the NFL and for false fumbles. So pretty incredible starts and whenyou factor in he's, probably colping a double team on eighty percent of hissnaps, that's pretty body impressive from Aaron Donald We've come to justexpected every week, but we probably need to sit back and take notes of howimpressive it is. An honorable mentions go to budda Baker. He is probably probably next to the honeybadg er, oneof the biggest prime time fends I've ever seen in defense. He absolutelylifted up. Whenever the cardinals had a prime tonge game. I picturing thatgaming and see hawks where he just went cut loose, anbut I'll talk about thatgame later. So he also deserves a big shoudow because he had another reallyimpressive year. So the candidates are blike, Martinas, ROK, Wansmith, Devon, white and Aron Donald, I'mactually not going with he in Donald, which most people probably would gowith. I'm not going with Devon White. Sadly, blike Martanus is a little bit off thepace, but I'm going with Roke on Smith. As my defensive MVP of the NFL of the NFC. Sorry, he had an absoluteblond erview in pretty much every start. It's pretty impressive, so it's toughto ignore, align back having the second most tackles for a loss in thecompetition is very impressive and I actually are TJ walk finishing abovethem in terms of the NFL and the defensive MVP rankings. But Brok, onbith is my number two so yeah incredible year, but also big shad outto Devin Wi now and don because they hade very impressive views as well.Moving on to the offensive rookie once again, similar to the FC, there'snot too much to choose from it in terms of these divisions, but will try ourbest. Luckily, for this one we didn't have like the toughest decision, picking oneit was clearly out of CD LAN or Antonio GIBS him for the NFCEAS to OffensiveRookie Award and I've gone macity land. Although Antonio Givson was extremelyimpressive in his first year coming out of college, he was an instant hit asthe Washington football teams running back, I'm going toh seed, Lan, I'msimilar to Mari Cooper. He dealt with a lot of quarterback situation, didn'thave much preseason and the fact that he was just an instant impact from week. One basically, he superseded Michael Gallop and became their number two toAmaricooper pretty quickly. You finished the year in the top thirty interms of receiving yards and receptions and yeah made some incredible grabsthroughout along the way. So I'm looking forward to see what he can donext year, hopefully with the for year with Dack Prescott, will obviously waitand see with the contract negotiations. What happened there? What happens therebe a big SHITEU to Antonio Gibson tinkyiu missed a couple games as welltowards the back end, but it was a big reason why Washington made the playoffsmy NFC North Offensive Brooki, another CIDAR, Justin Jefferson. I think I'mrealizing that the NFC rookies are a lot better hin, the AFC Butti Jusson,Jefferson Fifteenh in receptions. Fourth in receiving yards. Fourth inyards per target is a deep field threat. With his pace and height and letticesm.I mean it's just a bit of a different cat. Really, if you watch him, he a lotof wide receivers, they're very structured in the way they just runtheir rououts and they're, almost a bit robotic, but Jefferson. He seemds tojust move and just feel the route and...

...wherether ball basically takes him andthen, as soon as he catches, it es an absolute danger after the catch becausehe's so lanky and like hard to get down I'd, say and he's fast and so yeah. He was really impressiveto me. He was probably the most impressive book e of the year. Yes, itwas impressive. What Herbert did but Jeffison blew Mysox off quite a fewtimes or some of the performers, her ws, putting up big hat out atandre swift as well, whohe took a while to claim that number one running backthrown in Detroit, but once he did, he really shine and Shan shined. I don'tknow but yeah he had a pretty good year and FC sououth offensive rookie. Theydidn't have a candidate. Actually there wasn't too many to pick. I can't eventhink of it an offensive Rooki to be honest, that Tbut Adam trautman back uptiht in for the New Orleans sac, but no, I can't think of anyone else, so we'llleave that one blank and then on the N, OFC West Side. Once again, not too manyoptions but brand- and I uk, I think, had a seriously underrated season once again similar to the Dallas guys.Hee was dealing with the quarterback change, almost monthly. He built upquite a relationship with Nick Ballans and then Sj Bethad stepped in. So I m.That was a shame, but yeah top thirty in reception and yardsper game only played twelve games and yeah. He was very impressive when heplayed Debo Samuel and George Kidde weren't there for most of it and hejust stepped up, and you always forgot that he was a rookie and I think if itwas, I actually honestly reckon Nick Mullins is the reason why he seasonsgoing to be underappreciated. I think if he was on the receiving end of abiger name, quarterbacks, throwing, I think ix ceason might have been talkeabout a bit more and the fact that he only playd twelve games, I think means you know- is volume- was a bitdepressed so as suppressed, and I think that means tha less chats going to beabout him, but I'm very excited to see what he does next year. Hopefully, DeboSamuel gets on the pitch and interested to see what they can do together, but in terms of offensive Rookia, it'sgot to be Justin Jefferson had an absolute blind of the I've got. Him Isthe fifth best whie receiver on the year. So for a rookie to do that, that's pretty incredible. He was one of the least talked about high picks in terms of wide receivers.Everyone was talking about Henry ruggs CD lamd, Jerry Judy and Justin Jeffson, which is quietly going about his work in the preseason and during the draftperiods, and then he just went bang on to the scene from Lsu to the Vikingsand he was absolutely loving it with Adam feelan and cirt cousins, soexcited to see what he can do next year, defensive rookies back to the AFC NFCeast, another pretty clear one, Chasang, seven point: Five: Sacks Ten tapplesfor a lost four force. Fumbles here was a wrecking ball from pretty much week, one we were expecting it. He was talked about as being actually the number oneplayer in the draft class. It's just the QB importance M Borrowin number one.So everyone was onpecting it from chashyoung, but the way he did it soquickly and so effectively. You would expect people to go from bullyingcollege football and then go to struggle in NFL, but he seemed toreally have no trouble with that and just started bulling the NFL as well sochase young incredible opening season in the NFL andft north there weren'tret many to pick from Joe Gladley Look Ike Oli. I don't really know who he is,but he is the guy ive picked. Nothingreally have now to talk about him. ANDFE selth, once again, nothingoutrages from these boys, but I've gone with Aj Torel. He was a high pick forthe Atlanta Falcons in quarterback position. Ye had three falls: fumbles, which arikins pretty impressive for a rookie quarterback but yeah. Nothing ofnote really, apart from the three...

...fourth fumbles to mention from him andTwon Winfield and Jeremy Chin also had pretty good years for the Buccanees andpanthers respectidly. An FC West didn't have a defensiverookie candidate. So overall my defensive, Rooki and BP for the NFC isCha Shap, I'm not really a shock. He almost actually was the MVP candidatefor the NFC in general, over Blake Martinas, so Yoah not really surprisedthe chaseans winning this award, and he will be. I think I gave it to PatrickQueen on the AFC side and I'll actually, yeah IV, Bot Chas in just pippingPatrick Queen, so Chachian kin confirm, is my defensive Rooki an BP, eventhough that is not an award. But Ye playoff looks like it's going to beanother short episode here today, but we're into the general awards now coachof the year I's actually a tough one, because I like to look at last year'sperformance and then look at this years and see who improve the most as a bitof a gauge for Coa to the year and Blik like cliff Kingsbrin Bout, the FLO popping up, but I decidedto put them aside and I've gone. I have three candidates yere, I think they'reall very worthy, Bruce Arians. They were probably the biggest improvers interms of a team and they're a chance of winning a super bowl. I think if theywin, the Super Bowl might be a different conversation, but I'mprobably going to say no to him being Coarto th you in the NSC just because Ithink, with the roster they had. I think it was more a bit of a GM job, building that list int instead of a coaching job, but he stirl did verywell to bring them all together as a team and get them playing well by comeplayoffs time, but the two Mainmen I'm looking at here is mout rule theCarolina, panthers coach, Andron Rivera. I think I'm going to just give it toRon Revera, but I'll quickly. Talk about that rule and his credentialsfirst year in the NFL Carolin were being picked as an non. Sixteen tencoming into the year run thought they were going to be absolutely hopeless, especially on the defensive side of things, and they ended up having apretty good year, can't remember their record exactly, but I reckon they hadfive or six wins, which was pretty impressive, Teddy Brid jarder. Yes, he fell awaytowards the end of the year, but he was a pretty good pickup in terms of thefirst half of the season and Yeah Ias sing was a pretty incredible year fromtatrule what he got out of this team. They finished five and eleven, so tdoesn't sound as good as ir making it out to be, but the factthat they improved on last year and thatthey had on paper one of the worst teams youll oversee, especially on thedefensive side of things. I think mat rule did a very good job in his firstyear and I think the panthers have a right future if they can don' know if theyre actually going todo it. The quarlerback position, whether they're going to draw son, butI think e'm, going to do an episode, Nea Future about team needs and whothey should draft and pick up and FRADANSEE. So I might talk about itthere, but yet run Rovera. He took the Washington team to playoffs, so that'sWa. We said if it was a stronger division that team wouldn't have gotthere, but I think they got to seven winds in the end and they beat Tamslike the steels and stuff like that, so for them for him to get Ronevera to getthat out of a team on paper that didn't look great, probably lookd, the worstout of the division. I think thatw's a pretty incredible effort, especially inhis first year with a new team, obviously had all the offfield dramawith his canter tream and stuff. It's been announced this morning that hescancer free so well don on river. That's very impressive, very awesome, very Awsen here, looking forward to what he can do with his team next year. They look like theyre found one in Antonio Gibbson. TERR mcclarencontinues his rise. They turned Logan Thomas into like a top five tight end, interesting to see what they'll do withthe quarterback position, whether they...

...keep Alex Smith under center. They giveit a Taylor, high Nicki, or they draft someone once again we'll talk aboutthat in future episodes, but whoever was undersenter. Whoever was outrunningback. Whoever was in any position Rob Revera seemed to get the boys going andthe fact that they made the playoffs is, I think, man Thei acredit to Ronevera,so yeah he's my coach of the in the NFC I game mof the year in the NFC I'vegone with the Arizona cardinals versus Seattle seahawks in week, seven andthis game last for the AFC I kind of did some research and looked at thegames and thought about which ones were good, but this one was just stuck on myhead I'm week. Seven. This is where the famous dcame that calf chasedown tackleon Buda Baker was and the cardinals one in overtime sang gons ALOS clutched up.I think he missed a field go late in the game and then he kicked one on theSiran to send it to overtime and then e kiced one in no time to win it. I waslooking at the SBN win probl building the seahawks actually were the favorite,as in had over fifty percent whein probability the whole game until overtime. So that's pretty incredible that the cardals want an over time Willsenand Mury. Both put on a show thethad over four hundred yards, combine, passing and rushing each. Thisis when both of them were in the prine in elite, for they both had over threetouchdowns, and this is the game. Tylerlock et absolutely boughd out hadlike seventeen capcus or soing for two hundred yards toree touchdowncs andHopkins also had a pretty good game himself. I think ye had like a hundredand ten yards and hen touch down so yeah. There was a few games to choosefrom, but for me this stood out the most both teens were just firing shotsat each other Wut, a baker also put on a very impressive performance in one ofArizonas few Prime Tong Games that he kind of announced himself to thecompetition with a few important sacks and an interception, Al Bea, incrediblegame. A lot of men are memorable moments, so that for me, is the numberone top three signings of the year in the NFC honorable Mentin, I'm giving to MalcolmJenkins quarterback came from the Philadelphia Eagles back to the newOrlean Saints, so he was previously with and he returned to some of hisbest form under the sats coaching, Yad, fourfalls fumbles, and it was justimpressive all year really. So I thought I mentioned that and the number three I've talked abouthim before, but Blake Martines Wen from the grand baypackegs to the New Yorkgiants in that lineback a slot and didn't really miss a beat. You thoughthe was maybe past his peak, but he as showed that you still one of the betterlinebackers in the competition. I'm number two, I'm going with Tom Brody.Obviously, a high profile move from the Patriots to the buccaneers and yeah, the third most person passing yards the year. Second, most passing touchdownsthree game winning drives three fourth quarter comebacks and he's on the vergeof winning another Super Bowl. So I think them just being in the suprwollsalready a win for them. In my opinion, but the fact that they're a chance towin it is pretty incredible and then number one, I'm goingto give it to JonJay Hopkins tirn in receiving yards fiftein yards put game. He wasobviously part of that famous trade, one of billow Brian's or probably, Iguess, youwould, say infamous moments in a trade involving David Johnson.Everyone thought it was outrageous at the time and looking back on it, itstill was out. It still is outrageous, but ARIZOA snagged a genuine elate widereceiver, and I think that was a big reason why they push towards theplayoffs, really change their offense. In my opinion. So for me they are thetop three signings o the year with Jondre Hopkins being the number one. But that's all I've got for you todayand my NFL awards NFC edition. So that's the ACNNFC done now. If youhaven't seen the ARFC feel free to go back and listen or watch it,...

...but yet for now there's a lot more content to come. Alot more cricket content, OT, more NL content as well. I'm definitely goingto be doing a playoff review after the super bowl. I might do it before theSUIPBAWL, but it'll be later in about a week's time, whether it be before afterI'm, I'm sure, then I'm going to be looking at the tennis. As that startsto come up the cycling, I'm going to try and get back on the soccer and thebefore we know it. The Australian sports will be starting back up withthe AFL and then Irel so a lot more to look forward to, but in terms of theNFLN specifically but player rerviewcoming, and then I've probablygot a draft preview, free, aancy, previou, sort of situation where Illook at what team needs, what and who they should go for and stuff like that.So I'm yes, Tay tuned to the social media outlets of the Honabale podcastfor us on Instagram twiter, facebook, all that good stuff and you'll benotified whenever there's a new episode or you can follow us on spotify apple, podcast and Youtube, but yeah.
