2020 AFL Awards (All-Australian, Brownlow, Rising Star) - Episode 67

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

The AFL experts return to the On The Ball podcast to analyse the 2020 AFL Regular Season. The fellas run through several individual awards and name their choices including All-Australian, Brownlow and Rising Star awards.

Cheers, he settle. Welcome back to the on the wall podcast. This is episode forty seven of the show. Welcome to the new listeners and welcome to the old listeners alike. Today we're joined by the three AFL usuals. Broady, welcome back, man, how I very good. Thanks, mate. Glad to be here. Roy. Yeah, I'm good, mate. It's the best September I've ever experienced, while I leased the last week. So good man. And pilch, how are you, Matte? Yeah, same with same with Rowley. Stoked with our with my team's position. And Yep, yeah, I'm wearing port Adelaide gear. To those watching on Youtube, they can see that, but I'll be honest, I'm kind of just taking the Piss here. I think I've watched a total of like five Port Games which season. So not claiming to be a fan at all, but I've got the gear, so why not wear it? So today we're we had a midseason kind of episode similar to this, but just on the eve of finals. So we've obviously got the buy around this weekend and then finals commenced the following week Kend, and all the awards, barring the Brownlow, are announced this week. I believe. I don't know about the rising star when that is announced, but I think the Australia's coming out in the next couple days. So we thought we'd join in on the fun and we'd discuss some of the awards ourselves. So we're going to roll through the coach of the year, the rising star, our Australian sides and a brownlow medalist. So yeah, in the next few weeks I think we're going to do an episode reviewing the teams. Well, I haven't told you guys this, so I'm just dropping this on there, but I think I'm planning to do an episode where we review the teams who missed out on finals their seasons and then after finals we'll talk about the teams who made finals, because obviously can't really review their season until it's finished. But I reckon we just start with not the most boring one, but probably the least spicy one. Coach of the year. Will start with you, Braben. Yeah, I feel like you fancy yourself as a bit of a footy coach and so they will know which one of your contemporaries did you rate this year? I had three, but I'll I reckon you guys have said, going to say two of them based off the teams you support. So I'll go with Justin Longmuwer from free I, is a bit of a smoky. I sort of did it like what was expectations versus reality for the team, and I think no one expected free I to be as promising as they were this season. They seem to be playing for him. It's got a good game plan and I reckon free I have a good chance to make me eight next year. They've been big improvers. So yeah, Justin Long Muller, for me, is my coach at the year. Yeah, I hadn't written down. Similar to you as as a smoke, he probably not the number one man, but well, I don't remember where we were predicting them to come, but I think we're all pretty low on them, like bottom three or something like that. So yeah, pretty impressive what he did. Rowey, who are you going with the coach of the year? Well, I'm going to trump you, brody. I've got four coaches written down. I had long new at second, I've got I've got Kenny Hinckley at one. I know pilled probably want to touch on him. So I just think I've got him in one quickly, because owing is was a duard. I you if you didn't make finals, he was gone, and obviously is. He hasn't just done that, he hasn't just made the top for he's actually got his side to the top of the table. So obviously they've made one of the most promising teams of the year and obviously a massive contender for the flag. Like Stewie, you as well, is just absolutely turned around Gold Coast this year. I'm just really just blooded a lot of their young players and on Earth a lot of talent and...

I think twelve months ago we wouldn't been saying we wouldn't be as optimistic about Gold Coast as we are now. But I think he's definitely in for a shout as well. And Brett run, but I'm not there. It is you guys off brant and rape about him forlf an hour. But yeah, Pilch, Yep, one name the great man. Can He inkly, as rally said, do or die. He's last last two or three years. He's been coping a lot of hate from from a lot of port fans, not myself. I've always backed him, but those haters have been very quiet this year as he's finally strung together a consistent game plan, playing good, exciting footy, Richmond esque in my opinion. And yeah, he's minor premiership, so he's definitely my coach the year. Yeah, I think getting him please the number one. And if they're like I think there is an award at the coaches association or something, but here I have think he'd win it. Yeah, you've mentioned all the blokes I reckon worth mentioning. This is a rogue one. I'll just mention this. This is like the bottom of my list, but Damian hard week. I think they've dealt with a lot of injuries, a lot of off field drama with, you know, some of the players not wanting to go up to the harbor and then they've had some of the off field stuff recently with breaking the covid protocols. And I think on the field apart, like they were slow to get out of the blocks, which a lot of the times the defending premiers are. But I think he's got them, you know, roaring for finals and I think a lot of people will have them as the favorites going into finals and he's done that in a pretty you couldn't have much more of an interrupted season than Richmond has this year. So I think hard Wik's done pretty well. Like, I know the systems all in place, given the fact that they've won two premierships and three seasons, but I think what he's done on the fields been pretty decent. But yeah, we're pretty much named half the league's coaches there, but I think all good shouts. Yeah, I'd probably back in Kenny as well. Like culture saying, I was probably one of the people who not sure how he wasn't sacked last year, but I'll say in a pill to the other day, it seems to be a bit of a trend in the AFL. Buckley did it the other year, then hard wick, where the coaches are just on the verge of getting sacked and then it just clicks one year and they just jump from like ten to top for and all of a sudden that coach is like praised as a legend. So Fair play to the board, I guess, for sticking with him and, similar to Richmond and Collingwood in previous years, rising star reckon, we do that next and then rolling to our Australians and we'll finish with the big brown low rising start. So I'm just a bit of a forward. I'm I have my brown low metal thing that I've been doing all year where I do a five hundred and forty three two one for every single game match, and I thought I may as well just use this for the awards we're doing today, because I'm not going to use it for anything else and I've been spending a lot of time on it. So I'm going to do it for the rising star and because I've done that, I've actually come up with a pretty controversial result. I'm sure you guys probably aren't shocked, but matt row has finished the season with the most votes for me out of all the rising stars, and I'm actually going to pick him. I think he's still eligible for next seasons because he only played a handful of games, but in those handful of games he got eight votes for me and I actually think that's a lot less votes than most people would have him getting. But yeah, I'll let you guys talk about the other dudes, because I'm sure you're not going to back and round. But pilch, who are you liking for the rising star? I've actually gone with Noah Anderson over calebs a wrong. I just think he's definitely stepped up in the second half of the year. Likes the wrong, but I just think he's a little bit more versatile and he's probably a little bit more important to his team. Saying as though Gold Coast through a worst team.

So carries a bit more of a workload Thans wrong does. So I've gone him really yeah, I think it's it's going to be very tight twins and this a wrong. I think both hard about three to four massive games, you know, hundred and ten plus ranking points each, and we'll both pretty consistent, particularly Anderson's, throughout the end of the year. Yeah, I'm might just have Anderson picking s wrong. He did also play the whole seasons wrong. Debut I think round five or something six. So I do think and since bimble verse told they've threw him into the middle and I needed to, and also he's primarily on the wing for most of the season. Yeah, I've got answer peepings a wrong, but obviously both can be quality close. Broughty, well, they're definitely the I think. So wrong for me. He's probably played more like in the middle where the contest is one and I reckon stacks and Nessions and why he tacks the footage boy a little bit better than Anderson and since probably a bit more outside, but wrong already looked like he could be, you know, a bull in the middle. I'm going to go with him, but I definitely agree with the Hammer. Matt Row will win next use Brown la, not brown the rising by that well, out for the Bromo on. Yeah, with groundlow too, I'd be putting your life savings on route to win the rise. Yeah, next year, it being well, it could get injured again. You never know, maybe not completely the life saving squires play. So hopefully he's all good and he'll be. Are you we could finish top five or ten the Brownlow. Why not? Yeah, I was actually thinking about that. Surely if he's more than like a dollar ten in the rising star odds next year, that's enough folute steel. That's really on the biggest short bets of all time and footy. Yeah, but just pitching in on that. Enderson's strong debate. Not that my brownlow systems the be all and end or, but Anderson was above strong for me. So I had rout getting eight votes and it's in getting six, and strong got four. And also I think if I extended it so I had five people getting votes each game, I think if it was about seven, I think Anderson would have got a ton load more of votes. There was a lot of times where he just missed out on the one vote. He was like they're or thereabouts, but yeah, it's wrong. I guess you could argue he's dealing with a few better players in his team that would take votes away from in a voting type system, but I think they're the two standouts. I don't think anyone else hold more than once out of the rising stars, even like ranking and stuff. I think you only polled once. So yeah, I think it's definitely and some visa wrong. And then that just moves us into our all Australian. I think we need to set this up a bit better than we did last time. We got a bit confused with the way we were like delivering it. So I can we go back six. There we go, like you know, our middle six, so our three across the middle, then the Ruckman and the two followers and then last will say our six forwards and then we'll talk about the bench at the end. So starting with the six backman, broady who have you got in your in the backs of in your Australian team? Well, I found the back line probably the hardest to pick out of all them because that's you've been a lot of especially keep position backs this year. been a lot of good one. So it's just difficult for me. We'll back pocket. I had maynard. He's been super consistent and reliable all year. You can like shut down. That's more forward say. He was a lot for me. Harris Andrews is fullback. Don't think much needs to be said about him. Probably the best key defender in the competition at the moment. I chucked him Darcy Moore and the back pocket, and that's a bit controversial, but I had to have three tall backs. I couldn't leave one of them out, so I put him in. Now I got Luke Ryan from frew and I flank. Great intercept marker, been really good player this year.

Match improve for FREEO and I've checked my boy we ding at cent a half back. He's been impenetrable this year. He and now. He's not very flashy. A is flashy as a Darcy Moore or something like that, but he gets the job done week in, week out. And he's been a really big improved for Carlton. Then he'll be a gun defended for ten years to come. And I've got the lute man, Caleb Daniel, on my other halfback plank has to be the best kick in the competition. I don't know if you can name another person who is so clean and, you know, can hit targets off both left and right foot, and I needed someone in my back line to take the kickouts and deliver the ball. Well, they'll be a bit more aggressive. Yeah, that's my back six. Rolly, who have you got in your back six? Yeah, it's pretty similar. Got A couple changes. I've got Luke Ryan starting a first back pocket, Roy Tosh to him, you just absolute rock for the dockers. Harrisandrews fullback and off said there, and then a man that also using brought his back pocket. It maybe shouldn't be but given the needs have three key defenders, I've got darcy more in there just sort of just ranging in around as a third tool, just taking clunks left rant center. Back Flank is Caleb Daniel. Obviously huge parts. Who are the dog system? Just clean ball user out of the back. Jordan Ridley has also made it on some other flank, obviously one as is best and fairest. He was probably one of the only few shining lights of the year. And then a man that is not made even the squad, a cent a half back, and Stephen May, obviously one of the best lockdown defenders, kept a lot of his opponents to two goals of less throughout the year. So yeah, he's made by a sent off back position. I've snugged wearing because he's not impenetrable. Max Kin kicked a couple on him in his fifty eight. So I'll report you there, broody, but that's my Bait's pilch. Who are you going with? Yeah, I found. I found the this year's class had a quite a strong defensive like a lot of good defenders from this year. But I've Gone Luke Ryan back pocket, pretty obvious. Andrews fullback. And then the one broke who, in my opinion, can contest Daniel for the best kick. No one really gives him credit for it, but Jake Lloyd. I don't think I've ever seen him MISSR target coming out of the back fifty and he's another one that I thought was pretty stiff, not to make the squad. And then halfback line. Maynard. I've come around to widering at sent a half back, because you hear all these stats of him like having like fifty balls like kicked to him and his opponent and he's like lost like two of them or something like that. And Carlton can see a lot more inside s than you know colling wood, with Darcy more and stuff, so he's got a much harder job back there. And then finally, Jordan Ridley. I had haimes there until the final two weeks where he didn't get a touch. So Ridley's coming. Just a quick segue before I get into my back six. I don't know if you saw my instagram story today, but the Jake Lloyd thing is triggered it in my head. Broady, do you think your team's success should be taken into account when picking the Australian team, because I'd say that's probably a big factor for when considering Jake Lloyd type in a bottom fourteen. Yeah, I'd think it does. I mean Jake Lloyd's a hard one. I know he uses a ball really well but I don't know if you can really hurt you like a lot of these kicks a little chip sideways, you know he'll take the back pocket and give it twenty meters to someone you know. So I don't think you really damaged you but definitely well, in previous years the selectors of the actual team always go for the tens at a higher up. So yeah, I think if it's sort of lineball between two players, I think usually take the one in the more successful...

...team. Yeah, yeah, Rowy, do do you agree with that system or do you reckon it should just be a play a V player, like on merit sort of situation? I do believe it. I just think at times it can be used to extremely I think there are a couple of cases in the Australia selections that sort of simplified that. I think a few players. Yeah, I'm I wasn't going to name one or two poor players but um, I just think it might be. Yeah, look like it is obviously deciding factor, but I just yeah, I think it should be toned down a touch, but it is definitely a like a factor to include them in there, the fact that they've contributed to their team success. So when you look like when you look at it like that, obviously makes a lot of sense, but to snub couple plays based on the team sets when it's pretty obviously it's pretty obvious they've done their best to get them as far as they come. I think it's pretty if yeah, or I'll roll into my back six. I'll get the questions going every now and then so we're not just rolling out named. So I've done my Australian team. As I mentioned before, I'm Brownlow. So there's some big flaws with it because obviously if you're on a bad team you're kind of more likely to get votes if you stand out. But my back pockets are Luke Ryan and I don't think this guy's even ever talked about, but Jaden short me and pilch. We realize maybe halfway through the year there was a bit of a floor with the algorithm. It favored people who took like the kickouts, like I know Thomas Stewart absolutely killed it with this system because he would take a kick out. Every kickout was a rebound fifty and it would go seventy meters. So it was like bulk meters gained rebound s effective kicks. So we did realize there was a bit of a flaw. They're in my system. But yeah, so I've got Ryan and short in the back pockets and then I've got Robbie tarrant actually down at full back. I was going to go he was a kind of lower down in my votes, but I didn't really want to pick like three tall intercepting backs. I thought I should have like a lockdown guy. So he was my highest vote in that kind of category. And then across the half back line I've got maynard, Haynes and Ridley. So yeah, I don't know if having only really one proper defender is fair, but oh well, everyone asking. Gold Ryan does a little bit of defending. Haynes could probably like do a job as a spare almost, but yeah, I don't know. I think it's one on one capabilities are pretty underrated. Like he often plays on the main tool of the other team, whereas Haynes and Ridley kind of play spare. Yeah, and then, in terms of the defenders who just missed out, for me, Sicily is worth a shout out. I was almost close to having him but I thought this is a bit ridiculous, given you only played like half the season, but he was right up there for my brown low full stop, let alone in the Australian team. So yeah, I thought he was worth a shower. And then, yeah, Tommy Stewart. Wanted to get him in there but couldn't have. I didn't feel like he was good enough to be like my actual lockdown defender or the middle six, pilch. Who are you going with here? Yep, I'll start with the center line. So I've got Zach Merritt on one wing. I thought he was a very stiff emission from the from the squad, because his stats were unbelievable and I think he was like top six or top eight four coaches votes or something like that as well. So yeah, he might. I think he was probably the best winger in the season. And then center neil and on the other wing. I couldn't really I wanted to have two wingers but the midfielders were just too good this year. So I've Gone Taylor Adams on the other wing. I think he was Collingwood's best...

...midfield of this season and another one that kind of went under the radar a bit. And then followers, Gornie over Nick Nat. I had Nick Nack last time but I think Gornie just he almost brings with any night does with the hit outs and then but around the ground he's just ten times as good as Nick Na is. So I've gone with him and then broken steel, two pretty obvious ones to close out the guts. Yeah, good choices. Rally, I've gone for one woman and then two traditional mids. Across the first three I've Gone Samny goal on one wing. I think he's had a really underrated year. Is a gut runner as well. You see him in the day fifty and then thirty seconds later to long going forward and he's lining up for a goal. so He's also had a couple of massive games. I think that's one thing that needs to take to get that select you see, and take into consideration that the blokes that have consistent years with the odd breakout game should definitely be recognized, though, once to have just consistent seasons all around. I've got Lucky Neil obviously in the center. Not much of a surprise there, and I've got this is this, I guess brings from the topic before when you said the success sort of players are contributing factor to the Australians. I've got McRae over the sack of merit. It was literally down to those two. I've got McRae just because, I mean, it's just weak and weak out. He's always just getting tons of the footy, helps compliment players like bond and stuff you don't get and obviously impacted a lot more. I think he's just vital to their game plan. Cross the next three I've got Nat KNEWI in the ruck. GORNE's coming, don't worry. I've got oaken steel and I think they'll be second and third in the round low. So pretty obvious midfield joins. Their only brody finish it off me. Well, I was the three on balls. I had this same folks still and Neil. I think everyone that's pretty percent accurate on that one. They've been the three best on balls this season. My Ruckman is NAT Nuis. I can't believe you went gone. I just threatening that new. He's clearly the most I know he doesn't get his nut to the ball. Was somene of the other Ruchman, but the way he sent up he's midfielders and that's primarily the number one job of the Ruckman. He's clearly the best in the competition, so I had to have him. And then I'm probably a bit stubborn with wingers in the all Australian team. Like I always have to have two genuine wingmen because it's like sort of a specialized role, you know. They have to keep their width all the time and be like the loop man in defense and help out. So I had men of gold are on one wing, same as you rolling. And I want to sure about this. I could have put McRae, but McRae sort of plays a bit wing and in the middle. So I had gap on my other wing. He's not ultra damaging but he's super consistent, gets by the ball. Nice have a good left footer or on a wing. So yeah, I went with gap as my other wingmen. Yeah, fair enough. I'll be honest. I don't have any wingmen, but I hate people who don't kick wingman's because I just think of cricket. I just think of cricket. It's like you're not going to pick seven opening batsmen or you're not going to pick two middle or of Batsman to open the batting in like a team of the year or something. So I don't appreciate it when people get picked out of the position, to be honest, full stop. But I'm doing exactly that, partly because there weren't too any wingers high and like my brown low voting system, and also my knowledge isn't really that good, so I don't even know who plays on the wing most of time. But my middle six, or let's start with my scent a bounce squad recept right. So you've got Nick Nat, you've got grundy, you've got gone. They're all playing second fiddle to...

...your men. Todd Goldstein death definitely not a beneficiary of playing in the worst team the camp. Well, second worst. Yeah, he actually racked in votes in the first like ten rounds, don't act, and he registered a vote in the second half of the season. Then with him in the center, Bounce, I've got qualiver, crips and Neil, don't don't worry, rowey steels coming later. And then on the wings, like yeah, these guys aren't wingers, but I just picked blokes who like they kind of can play half. For it if you want, but danger and Bolke. But yet far from wingman. I A hundred percent except that right. That leads us into the forward six. Broady, you're on a start us off me. Yet well, considering I did pick a couple wingmen. I need to sneak a few midfielders into my board line, so that sort of had a bit of a say in mine. So a half forward line, I had but TRARKA. He played on board most of the season but he actually showed the ability to go forward and kick snags. They had him on one flank. Big Charlie Nixon is sent a half forward. Not much needs be said about him. The focal point of ports forward line, always creating a contest, has a huge presence on the ground, so he's a perfect center half forward type. And then I'd dusty on the other half forward flank. Dusty probably hasn't had as good a year as other seasons, but I feel like we sort of hold that against some of the absolute guns like they're still clearly like. He still clearly one of the best in the camp. So even if he hasn't quite been as good as other seasons, he's still in the best team. And then forward pockets. Had Dan Butler. I heard us that he number one small forward goals for the seasons at right rowing. It's right now one, but it's not a pressure player as well. And then I had big Tomahawk, is my full forward one the Coleman. You know, he actually played really deeper as well, or the season like he actually sat full forward like pluggy used to back in the day or whatever. So he was clear full forward. And then Liam Ryan came storming home. For me I would have had maybe Papley, but I thought Liam Ryan actually won the eagles a couple games like the season almost of his own boot. So another, you know, exciting small forward who can do everything. So he filled up my other spot in the forward six. All right, right, yeah, I've got a similar situation. Given eye put in Menagala and, I guess McRae. I've had to put in a few midfielder forwards and to my forward lines. On the first flank I've got patty danger field. I think the weekend it's game against the Swan's to showed how how much of a threat he can be going forward as as well as in the midfield, and those type of players are obviously pretty rare. I've got the big Tomahawk at cent a half forwards him or Dickson. They're both half fought and full forward, so he's just sort of switching the I've got hawk there because he's also late as well as winning the column and he's also leading knee comp in goal assists, so that's obviously a massive chamber. Someone that's spends highs one king goals as well, and then put truck on the other flank. Obviously similar situation to danger. Can Be just as big a threat going forward as he is around the ground and obviously those top players are rare. I've also gone with you, Brody. I've Gone Liam Ryan. I think it just some of his quarters late in the season we unbelievable and he he won the eagles the game in I think it was the second court against the ruse. He had a ridiculous quarter. Then try Dickson, a full forward, just aead of just take absolute clunks. And then, yeah, Damn Butler the other pocket. Yeah, I think he's just speed and attack on the opposition defenders and as well as on the ball. Goes underrated. It's also obviously the leading small for in the COM. I didn't have him, I think in my mid year one. I think someone picked him a my have been cameron or someone, but I've got bull back in there now I'm all to my...

...saints, Saints Players. So yeah, that's all for that's my full seas. What are you saying? PILCH, half forward line, PETRARCH, addict and Dangerfield speaks for itself. Full forward line. Tomahawk at full forward. That's an obvious one. And then one of the forward pockets. You boys won't Cot this. It's extremely biased, but I've gone with Robbie Gray in the Ford pocket. We all we've seen the abuse that butters has been copying for making the all Australian squad. But Robbie Gray was better than butters in disposals, tackles, goals, contested possessions, score involvements and score assists this season and he's had luck similar stat lines two previous seasons where he has made the final twenty two. So He's flying under the radar. And then the other forward pocket was between Lamb Ryan Papley and Dan Butler. I think I'll switched it about five times, but I ended on Tom Papley purely because I think he's a lot more pivotal to Sydney's forward line and the other two. I think he often has the best defender on him and he kind of has to do everything himself and he still scored twenty six goals, like only one behind Dan Butler. So yeah, I went here him. Before we get started, I'd like to make a formal apology to all forwards in the league. My on my my brainlow algorithm have to I have to say, didn't quite dirty. There's not too many stats that favor forwards over other positions, but I think out of these six only two actual forwards. But anyway, or the half forward line. Ye, same as you, pertruck, Dixon, dusty. All right, now we get a little bit saucy full forward. I'll get the Tomah walk out of the way. Obvious pick there, but this is where it just gets a little bit stupid. I know he's not even a forward really, but I've got Zorko in a pocket. I think he was pretty decent, but he's obviously like more of a midfielder. But out of my top fifty in the brownlow he's basically that most forward like attacking player, which is saying a bit about my system. But and then next up. This is so bad, but I don't want to pick a second rackman because I don't see too many teams in afl going out with two our now Rackman, so I've gone with someone who can rest forward and do quite a decent job. So I've gone with row he's man Rowan Marshall in the fucket. He was actually quite up there in terms of just Ruckman. So yeah, that's I've gone with him, mainly just because I had no other forwards really. I'd had to search a bit harder through my list of what three hundred players here, so I'm not putting in that effort. So rollant, you get in the call upmate. Congratulations son, and yeah, being I feel bad I haven't put it enough effort here because I know if I was, you know, a number four batsman they're put in an opening batsman in the number four spot, I would be pissed off. So apologies to all AFL players out there listening, but yeah, right, let's roll through our interchanges. I'll start. I've got steel lions green, Hugh Green would once again I've just got too many midfielder so I pick someone who probably could classifiers of forward for half the time. So I'll go here and then this is probably another beneficiary of being in the crap team, but I've Gone Luke McDonald. He was actually pretty high up there as a rebounding defender. So I've gone him. I wanted to go Sicily, but yeah, once again I couldn't pick him after only half of season. Peel Ch, who's on your bench? I've just realized I've got danger at half forward and on the bench, so I'll change him straight ex straight to jared lions, just straight swap. So jared lions, Mark Sponson Pelly. He's probably a bit...

...stiff not to make the field. But and then Cam Guthrie, one of the real underrated players of the entire season. I think he was almost I've wouldn't be surprised if he wins Geelong's best and fairest this season. And lastly, Lucky Whitfield. Can play literally anywhere on the field, halfback, half forward, Wing, just ultimate utility and racks them up. So yeah, really, who's on your point? Yeah, sill a pilch. I've got bomb there. Obviously pretty see if not to make the feel, but he's in there regardless. I have gone gone as the second Ruck, I think, barring, I think, to injury affective games. Then obviously a couple of games missed. His season was ridiculous, like one hundred and twenty ranking points every game. He was just he's just unbelievable around the ground. I do believe that new he deserved the first rock spot, though I've got made on on there. He just missed my starting six, but he's in the team. This is ability to lock down the best forward in the opposition. It just can't go unnoticed. And then feel very dirty. I've gotten dusty after crossing our atoms, because I think Adams had a awesome season, especially during Collingwood's down point. But I've got dusty and there just because obviously one of the best players of God, best players in the league. Looking at I probably could take out mccrayful and put an atoms, but it's submitted and yes, I've got dusty's that last player. I just don't think I can submit it without him in there. I think he's just that good. So yeah, that's my team done. Fair play, broughty. The bench was the hard me because that reckon. I could had eight to ten makes like sort of filling the last four spots, but I went danger. I've sort of had between but truck and dusty and danger as my through half boards. Danger got the flip, which probably a bit stiff, but anyway, then I had the bonds. He had a super season again. It also stands up when it really matters. A lot of the tough hid tight bulldogs games. He got him across the line, so he was a walk up. I had Clayton Oliver. Now that you've said Jared Lions, I want to change my boat, but I'll stick with Oliver. Him and petruck will awesome in Melbourne midfield. Really good season and my last one. As much as I don't like Richmond, I have to respect this bike. And he's named Dylan grimes as my last defender. I mean he's just the gun I reckon. He seems to always just stop the opposition. I didn't even know how he does it. Sometimes he's fallen over, looks pretty clumsily. Just does the job and probably a bit underrated by a lot of people, but he's a star and I had to have him on my last bench spot. Yeah, that's my pain. Yeah, all those blokes you bench and they were all like so close to my side. Pretty Mad I couldn't get the boont in there and Adams as well. VINEY and Tom Mitchell also up there in my standings but just missed out for me. I just I don't know why, I just thought of this when you guys were talking about Dangerfield. So I think he made his six all. I think he's made six of the last eight Australian squads or something like that. So since I've only came to Victoria in two thousand and fourteen, I believe it was maybe the end of two thousand and thirteen. So since I've watched the League for me day, the field and fife have been the to clear standouts as best player in the competition. I think they're the best buy quite a long way. If you have, if they ended their careers right now, who are you taking? Danger or five pilch? Five? Any reasons why or like it's it's a bit of a corn flip. I just think five has that he's he's carried his team when when he's like the only man that can do anything, and I'm pretty sure he played out like a pluminary final with a broken leg or...

...something. Life Hats Andy. So yeah, you just absolutely warrior. So yeah, Roy, yeah, I'm going five. I think that's the couple brownlows speak themselves. He's I just think when when fits, he's by a country mile the best player in the COMP. I think I'm obviously no disrespected danger. I think he's obviously definitely out there, but I think five just yeah, the impact that he's had to freemancle and just to acause there's I can't find a blow that doesn't Love Fife, even if you don't support doctors. He's just had such an impact on a felt itself. He's also got better head and danger love the hair. Broughty, who you guys on? Tough question. It's linebull probably, if just you probably bit better in the like marking forward. Maybe slightly got a kick, but I tell like one of those things, like I've danger. I don't know. They'd say long win the flag and danger. Yeah, I was going to say that there's a change and maybe that changes it because team suggests say. Yeah, it's very tight that they're the two standouts, along with dusty, probably over the last half dozen years. They're like there the top three in the COMP and it's up to, you know, the bond and those guys to take it off him. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I felt like bringing up felt like I'm wondering what you guys want to say and then let's finish with our brownlow metals. Actually, I've got some of my predictions here, so I feel like she's just embarrassing myself. My surprise, all Australian selections that I predicted. Toby Green Ed. Like I've realized I've Gone Way to road with these. Dan Houston and Connor Rosy. So some I find us but I did say Goldie and, although he didn't even make the squad, so he's not a surprise of Australian. I think he had a better season that people were expecting. Who'd you say? Broady? You said and McGrath. Yeah, I did say MC grath. You did. Did He make the squad? No, it. You have a good season. Actually, yeah, break a Shan, why not? Who is everyone's bolt to make next? US all traian like they like someone's going to take it by storm. I'll start by say a lot for the wing. Yeah, bit bias, I know, not realm it to be fair. By answer is going to be just as biased. So well, Guy for it. Ye, who using peach that butters at half Ford or Ford? Yeah, well, is he? is He really bolting if he made the squad this year, though? Well, what do you mean by by Bob Hey? They I don't know, not even in the conversation, not even a B okay, honestly, I actually don't mind MC graph of that would mcgrat? Would M grafit into that category? Yeah, I reckon for sure. Yeah, very who are you backing in here? I'm going to why. I think you obviously obvious choices. Matt Row as first NIC came to my I'll go through crue saints boils, particularly defenders. I think, playing as a Jordan Ridley esque role, I I can he's a don an awesome second after the year. I can. Nick Coffield is definitely going to be one to watch. Obviously, very row, but I he second half was awesome and just a couple in cases and Andrews goes down or dicey more goes down or anyone. I doogle how it's CAL will. I've been the best one on one defenders this year, so I'm I reckon. Keep an eye for those three I can. One of them might squeeze in. I can't believe Google Howard's turned...

...out to be stud me and how menhomers used to write a poor games and genuinely laugh at how bad he was in contests. He's he's been hot, one of my most consistent players. I thank you very much for them. Yeah, I'm not going to go to in depth in mine. I'm going to say bolt will be my Bolter, I think. Noah Bolter, who I think it was only a couple games off rising start eligibility or a couple months, I can't remember. I googled it the other week and he would have clearly won my rising star based on my voting thing, and Jed Anderson another one. I think he had a bit of all lay. Yeah, if North have a bit more success next year, which I probably wouldn't guarantee, I think he might do a bit better. But all right, brownlow metal, it's the big time. After eighteen rounds of logging results, I've come up with the tire fellas. I've actually fuming locked in forty. Forty four votes, so it is out of five. So it's obviously going to be more than normal. It's Patty CRIPS and locky neal tired for the brownlow metal. Their play to both of them. Pilch, who are you backing for the Brownlow metal? Well, I'm then. It's pretty obvious, but I was my head. My Heart says Bo Ki but my head says Neil like it's it's not going to be anyone but neil. Yeah, right, I've the same dilemma once as steel. That's that, says Neil. Yeah, I wouldn't be. I wouldn't be, like I don't think would be the end of the world if somehow VOC or steel took it off him, but just because of the shortened season. But I do think you will get it, obviously, and I think it'll be interesting secomes second of third between those two or if there's someone else, just because I think there's no one really to steal votes off broken steel. There's no massive standout in those other two teams to obviously pole as highly's them, but I think that'll be the top three, with meal taking it out. Yeah, broady, you going, Neil as well? Yes, knock standard. I mean I love Patty crips win it based if you're algorithm that I don't even look fish. Top three in our bit being are. But yeah, Neil, for sure. I think second O, reckon, you guys said Bay can steal, but for trkis is a chance for top three as well. I reckon. He's probably another one. They're probably the top for that. Yeah, it's really going to be. Second it's the most interesting. I think meal win by half a dozen votes at least. Probably they're my top nine because ten eleventh are tired. So stuff them my top nine just for the sake of reading out. So I got crips and Neil tied on top, cloal of a one vote behind. So the inside mids were getting loved by the Algorithm, for this is where the voting systems just wrong. But Luke Ryan, he legitimately got five votes, like eight rounds in a row or something for free, oh in the middle of the season. Then five eyed danger, sixth was steel, seventh was boke and tied with Bok was actually Maynard, which is pretty surprising in a star started collingwood team that to rack up that many votes. And then night was jarred lines. So yeah, it will be interesting to see. Well, none of those awards have been announced if I'm not mistaken, so I'll be interesting to see how our opinions stuck up with the experts opinions. But yeah, that's that's it all we've got for you today.
